Chipman Animal Clinic has been part of our pet family for over 15 years. All the vets there are amazing and love what they do. They provide the most compassionate care I have ever seen and I will continue to take all my kids (family pets) there for as long as they exist. You won't find a better place for the care of beloved pets.

Best place for your pet is Chipman Road Animal Clinic, the Dr's and staff are tops in their profession. They will do EVERYTHING they can for your dog or cat. Xrays, tests, surgeries, teeth cleaning, immunizations. I have had my dogs cared by them for 20 years and am a faithful follower, you can be too, just drop in, no appts necessary. Thank you for all you have done for us and 'Tobi'

My dog and two cats have been patients for years but now I've had enough -- Chipman Road Animal Clinic is hell-bent on making money on routine medications such as heartworm preventers and anti-fungals rather than focusing on caring for their patients. At various points, I've tried to purchase maintenance meds such as Heartguard from internet companies, only to be completely STOPPED by Chipman Road Animal Clinic's request for an "office visit" or -- get this one -- "heartworm testing to make sure you don't come back to us if you purchased defective Heartguard from somewhere else and your dog gets heartworm." Seriously! They will do everything in their power to prevent you from buying your meds elsewhere; they'd much rather you walk in the door and buy from them at greatly inflated prices (and of course, if you do that, you won't have to pay for unnecessary office visits). To me, this practice should be illegal and I should be able to purchase my dog's meds wherever I choose, while saving money. I'm looking for a new vet now, having been "on CRAC" for several years. Goodbye, Chipman Road Animal Clinic. I hope your unethical practices serve you well.

I do not normally do reviews like this, however, seeing someone say bad things cause me to do so. The people who work there are absolutely amazing. Always taking the time to explain what is going on. Worrying right there with me over my old dogs health. He is now 11 years old and healthy and happy and I owe it all to Chipman Road and their doctors and especially Trish. Thanks guys, you rock. Terry and Rusty

Pros: fantastic people who care

Cons: I certainly can't think of any.

I've had pretty good luck with this business so far. Their most appealing feature is their hours. Someone can actually have their pet checked out after getting off work. The staff is very friendly and good with animals (you may think this is a given at an animal clinic, but it's not). Both vets I've seen were kind, friendly and professional.

As suggested below, Chipman is too busy to spend time thinking about your pet. If you have a complication (thyroid disease, diabetes, or something else) wrong with your pet, then go somewhere else. We had a cat that was diagnosed by them as having thyroid disease. After several months of fighting infection along with treating him for hyperthyroid, he was diagnosed with cancer. If you look on the net, one of the first questions a vet should ask when diagnosing a thyroid condition is, "does this pet have cancer." The reason is because some cancers produce parathyroid and other hormones that can create thyroid disease and others. So, our cat died of undiagnosed cancer, which compromised his immune system and caused repeated infections. It is time for Lee's Summit veterinarians to start thinking more about the pets they are treating and less about money and politics. If you have a problem with your pet, take them to VSEC in OP KS. It is one of the only places in the KC area that has doctors who are competent enough to make an accurate diagnosis and willing to spend the time finding out whats wrong and making a plan for treatment. Believe me, you will save yourself time, money (they are more expensive, but worthwhile), and HEARTACHE if you do.

When my boxer was diagnosed with lymphoma by another vet that didn't even run any tests and just told me my dog was going to die, my heart was broken. I went looking for a second opinion. I was referred to Chipman Road Animal Clinic and first saw Dr. Rooney and have seen several of the other vets there too. They were all very compassionate, and loving all the way to the end. I received a sympathy card from this office saying they shared in my loss. This meant the world to me. So much so, that I now make the 25 minute drive everytime we need to see the vet. It is so worth it to know they care and are knowledgeable too. It works out great for us to have walk in hours all the time. I never have to wait very long and if someone expects to go into a vet waiting room and not have other animals around to contend with, then I think their expectations are warped. This is a great clinic, otherwise I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review.

I've tried working with Chipman Road Animal Clinic for a few years now. If you have a dog, and you want to be able to take it to the vet whenever without an appointment, then it's okay. Also, if you have a young animal that doesn't require a quiet atmosphere or a lot of thought as to the best care for the animal, then it's okay. However, I have never met Dr. Rooney or Dr. Walker. There are several vets in this office and in spite of when I go in I always get the same vets. It's okay if you like the vet you get, but if you don't, then it's awfully difficult to get away from them. I have had to leave the clinic to get away from the not so good ones I have been stuck with. The doctors are also hesitant to talk to clients about other doctors patients. In my experience, that is because some of them are better than others. You go to this vet you get the luck of the draw. And, lastly, don't count on them having a good understanding of pharmaceuticals or alternative medicine. They don??t understand either one and are brash when you want to discuss them.

We have used Chipman Road Animal hospital for 4 years. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and they have all had some emergency or other. There is a genuine love of animals by all the staff members. We normally use Dr. Rooney and Dr. Walker -- But when Morris our Cat almost died in Nov of 07 -- the entire staff worked together and did everything within their power to make Morris healthy again. Everyone was at our disposal and they were willing to listen to us and our concerns. On a cold winter Sunday morning Dr. Rooney called to tell us that it appeared that Morris may have turned the corner. We love our pets, Brandy, Amber, Morris and Walter -- and Chipman Road Animal Clinic and the staff work hard to make sure we have them around for as long as possible. You can not miss by using this reasonably priced professional clinic.

My cat, Pilchert, almost died a few years ago from fatty liver disease. Dr. Rooney diagnosed him and saved his life. Pilchert still has recurring issues and Dr. Rooney is always there to make Pilchert feel better. He even makes a follow up call to check to see how Pilch is feeling.

I wouldn't take my sweet little Pilchert to ANYONE but Dr. Rooney, he really is the best!!!

Chipman Animal Clinic is the best. Dr. Rooney cared for my Cocker Spaniel for 12 yrs. He was attacked by a pit bull on Sunday night after 9:00. I called Dr. rooney at home & he was waiting for me when I arrived. My poor dog was almost dead. He did surgery on him and stayed with him most of the night keeping me updated by phone. He was there to put him to sleep yrs. later when he had cancer. I will never forget his kindness. The whole staff seems to really care about the animals they work with. I recommend them to every new pet owner I meet. They are truely the best!

I have taken my pets to this vet for years. They are always friendly and more than willing to help you with whatever you may need. Each time I have taken my cat in for a checkup or even once an emergency they were more than accommodating and willing to work with and for me.

I have taken both of my cats to this vet and have to say they definately have the most caring staff around.. When I had to put my last cat to sleep the people there went out of their way to make the transition much easier for us.. The vet is very friendly and was with us the entire time till the end.. Some vets only give orders and then leave but not here.. A+++

I have taken both of my cats to this Animal Clinic before. Both times I was greated in a friendly manner and my cats were taken care of. Any questions I had they answered with the utmost knowledge. The veterinarians on staff treated my pets with a gentle touch and were very informative with instructions to nurse my cats back to health. I would recommend this Animal Clinic to anyone looking for a soft approach at a reasonable price!

PROS: Great staff, friendly, helpful, reasonably priced
CONS: None!

We recently got our first puppy and took her to Chipman Animal Clinc, our first impression of the place is that it was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The clinic was kind of difficult to get into with all of the construction going on but overall we had a good experience, my puppy will be going back :)
