We took a group of 18 here (bill was over $1,100 with drinks and desserts). We were all from out of town, and we were looking for a "Hill experience." I simply wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a large group. The only staff member who was even a little bit friendly to us was the young man clearing our plates. We were a friendly group, but we couldn't get a kind word out of our waiter, the manager who was near the door, or the host. The entrees were attractive, but everything arrived at the table cold. The side dishes (the rice specifically) looked like something you would get at a large convention hotel banquet. No one touched their sides at all. Overall, we would have been happier at some chain restaurant. Maybe this place is better for a couple looking for a quiet dinner, but if you're taking a group, pick a place that is better suited.

Pros: Lots of tables, drinks were made well.

Cons: Staff seems miserable and unfriendly, food arrived cold and took forever.

The bartender, hostess and bus personnel were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for our waiter, who was not the least bit helpful, and downright rude and argumentative. The restaurant has an extensive wine list tying back to it's Italian roots. If was difficult to make a selection as we were unfamiliar with the Italian wines, and the list provided absolutely zero descriptive info, providing only the name of the wine. This meant that we needed to ask the waiter for a suggestion, based on our preferences. As the list is so big, and bottles range from the low $30 dollar range to $150 and up, we obviously had to include a price range, which was awkward. Once he realized we did not want to spend over $50 for a bottle he became rude and belligerent.

I travel quite a bit on business and eat out 3 times a day at least 100 days a year. Most of the restaurants that I have dinner at are very high end, as I am usually entertaining guests. My meal was cold, as was that of 3 of the 4 of us. One meal was piping hot. I am guessing ours sat in the kitchen while the hot meal was finished. This is the first time in the thousands of times that I have out that I had to send a meal back to be heated. When it came back it was only room temperature; I just ended up taking it home to heat it up the next day.

The desert was excellent. I'll pass on the meal and the waitstaff though.

Their Italian American cuisine is to die for. It is simply delicious. They have world class wine pairers that can pair the perfect wine to go along with your meal. Even if your not a fan of Italian cuisine you must come here simply for the wines! My favorite dish is the shrimp cocktail. This place is a bit pricey.

I went to Charlie Gitto's from advice by a local. The place was quaint, I mean it needed to be remodeled about 20 years ago. The waitress was superb!!!! 5 stars just for her. The cook in that restaraunt obviously burned his tongue a long time ago and can not taste his cooking or maybe people are afraid to tell him that it has no taste. Not to mention when you overcharge for a spinach salad try and leave the wilted pieces out! The pizza tasted like it came from a freezer section at the local market. The iced tea would have been great if they actually put some tea in the water. I felt violated when I got the bill! Not to mention I went back to the local advice giver and punched her in the mouth. Next time I want pizza I will go to Dominoes.

Charlie Gitto's is a locally owned italian restaurant. They serve the usual italian offerings: pizza, pastas and table wines but their lunch buffet is a great deal. For about 7 dollars per person the buffet offers a few specialty pizzas as well as their many pastas and single topping pizzas.

You can make an online reservation through their website, and they offer catering and event hosting, too.

PROS: Good deal on the lunch buffet
CONS: Very busy at times

The friendly welcome tips off the rest of the evening. Great Italian ambience. There is a definite feeing that the people here have a sincere respect for Italian cuisine.

My husband and I celebrated our 14th anniversary recently at Charlie Gitto's upon recommendation by a good friend. From the moment we were seated to the end of the meal, it was a perfect evening out. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the food was superb and the atmosphere was romantic. We could not have chosen a better place to celebrate our anniversary.

Good food. The crab cakes appetizer comes highly recommended, with good reason. Light and almost airy, served with a citrus-chipotle mayo, they were excellent. My entree, the lamb chops w/ mango demi, was grilled to perfection, the sauce a nice diversion. My partner's rigatoni and lobster diabolo was tasty, but uninspired. Dessert (cannoli) was good, probably local. Limoncello was a bonus. One significant negative - after ordering an appetizer and our entrees, our waiter asked, "And what would you like for your salads?" He then listed the salads available (we had a spinach salad and a tomato salad, both were excellent). We were surprized to see them appear on the bill to the tune of $17.00. $10 wines by the glass are no bargain, either. This restaurant is moderately overpriced.
