Comic Cavern

I've been going to this store location since 1990. Greg Weitz was the founder of the location, and sold the store years later to Friendly Frank. The subscription service at this store is flawless. In my many years there, I cannot recall them failing to put a book I have ordered into my box. For anyone who subscribes to their favorite titles, you know how important this is.

In addition, the staff gets to know you...and makes helpful suggestions and lets you know when your favorite artist, writer, or comic character has a new book coming out. They are service oriented, and an excellent store for a hard-core comic reader.

In addition, Friendly Frank owns three stores in the Kansas City area. If Comic Cavern sells out of a book, they will have the book brought over from one of the other stores by the time you make your next stop in to get your books.

I've visited and bought comics at every other store in Kansas City, and some appear equal to this store...but none are better.

CONS:

Anyone who rates this store world class has not been to many stores in the KC area much less in the world. It is a dark and dingy store with no organazation and a poor stock of material. The comic selection is very sparse and we were told that they only order many tiles by request only. This is understandable with some of the more obscure publishers, but not for books from marvel and dc.

Comic Cavern has one of the largest selections of comic books and comic related merchandise around, they have a little bit of something for everyone who is interested in comics.
