Browse for Treasures  4 Star Rating - Very good

Half Price Books is a great place to spend hours browsing for book bargains. I always start in the back of the store in the clearance area. You never know what you might find and many of the books back there are only a dollar or two. If you're looking for something particular (especially newer popular releases), you might have to make a few visits before you find it there, but that just gives you more excuses to go back!

Great selection, not so helpful staff  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

This store always has a great selection of the books that you would need. BUT the staff is less than helpful in any questions you might have regarding where a particular type of book might be located. They just point you in the direction in stead of going with you to help.

PROS: great selection
CONS: not-so-helpful-staff

What could be better?  4 Star Rating - Very good

What book lover could not relish getting a good deal on the latest books. Although most books are used and at half price, a few new books are available at drastically reduced prices. Just to browse the aisles is entertainment for anyone who enjoys books. You never know what you will find.

If you love books...  4 Star Rating - Very good

If you like books and prefer purchasing to borrowing, this is the place for you. With a selection that pretty much includes a little of everything, no one should have trouble finding what they want. The store is well lit and organized by subject posted on big signs hung from the ceiling so there really is no trouble finding your subject. The staff is friendly, but non-invasive so you are left to browse at your leisure. If you do find you need help, and employee is usually pretty easy to find so that isn't any trouble at all. The prices are, to me the best part. Being able to find hardback books in new condition for only a dollar is, one of the best things for me. All their books are at least half off the publisher's price though and some for less. They also carry CDs, DVDs, records, VHS tapes, computer games and more and since a lot of the merchandise comes from regular people selling their things to them, each store is different. The only problem I have is that sometimes their organization throws me. For example, a book of Maya Angelou poetry could be in poetry, african-american studies or women's studies, you can never be sure. Despite that, this store rivals any big chain for selection and atmosphere and you just can't beat the price.
