Food is good. The atmosphere is unique. Overall, a good place to eat. You will spend around $30+ for a meal.

In town on business, we had planned to go to a steak house when the cabbie suggested 1111. Had one the the
best tasting, flavorful Rib eye's ever. Server was polite but not over-bearing. Bibb lettuce and fruit salad was excellent.
Not the biggest menu, but everything we saw come out looked appealing. We'll definitely be back.

Busy Saturday night and they sat us within minutes of our 8:00 reservation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great waiter. The steamed mussels were the 2nd best Ive ever had.....Bar italia in the CWE is the best. GIrlfriend had a vegetarian plate of Polenta and various grilled mushrooms. We eat out alot and at mostly the best resturaunts in town and she said that this may have been her favorite dish ever. I tried some and it was great. I had the beef medallions over their mashed potatoes with a sauce lighty drizzled over the top. Was very good as well. Only down side is that upon making my reservation 4 days early I specified a romantic, qiueter spot. Had been here before and knew it is quite loud and crowded but there were a few tucked away spots. We were sat in the middle of a row of 8-9 tables in the middle of the room upstairs. Not a big deal but also was not what we requested. For a romantic dinner???...no for great food and especially a group of 4 or more....yes.

I had been to this restaurant a year ago for lunch, but Valentine's Day 2009 was the first time I had been back and had beent here for dinner. Because I had a good experience with the lunch (excellent flatbreads!) and the numerous good reviews online, my boyfriend and I decided to go there for Valentne's Day. We decided to do the 3-course Valentine's Day special. I had the boar ravioli, the field greens and the bacon-wrapped pork. I forget what my boyfriend had for his appetizer, but he had the butternut squash soup and the seared duck breast. Good things first: we both enjoyed our main courses (the pork and the duck) very much, and we thought the staff was very pleasant (they accomodated us even of our days plans ended very early and we showed up an hour early to our appointment!). Disappointments: the boar ravioli was lukewarm , had a weird aftertase, and the sauce actually seemed like it came out of a can. The field greens were nothing to crow about and my boyfriend's butternut squash soup was waay too sweet. Overall, the restaurant is a beautiful place to go, but the food is disappointing and wasn't worth the price.

Ignore the good reviews on this place. They're trying to create image and buzz but the trouble is with their food; it's bad and service isn't much better. Ate there twice and both times the food was serve luke-warm at best. Try Taco Bell, it's better and you'll save yourself some money.

We decided to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary at a restaurant we hadn't visited before. We found out about 1111 Mississippi, and thought it would be fun to try! We made our reservations easily through their website, and upon arriving were shown directly to our table. Our waiter was fantastic: he learned it was our anniversary, so he brought us 2 glasses of champagne, complimentary and was great at making suggestions. I also spoke to the couple next to us (they had just received their check and were leaving) and they gave great recommendations. We were told we had to try to the wild boar ravioli by a friend and by reading other reviews of the restaurant, so we did: not so boary (though I'm not sure what IS boary) but the sauce and textures were great. My husband took our waiter's advice and orderd the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin: delicious, tender, hubby was happy. I had the wild mushrooms with polenta: also delicious. The polenta was amazing, rich and creamy. We were very impressed with the overall atmosphere, the food (oh, the free bread is AMAZING too), the wine list (I had a shiraz, hubby had a good ole beer), our waiter (Scott B., you were fantastic!) and the overall experience. A large group was seated close to us, and they were even having a great time, so I would recommend coming with a larger party as well. We think we'll make this a yearly tradition, or at the very least will definitely come back!

I've been going to 1111 for four years and rank it in my top 5 restaurants in St. Louis. The flat breads, apps, and entrees are all delicious. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. And of course, their sommelier does a wonderful job managing their wine selection as well as providing recommendations.

I have eaten at the bar, in the cafe area on the first level and the dining room area on the second level. For a informal drink or casual dinner the first floor will provide succinct service. If you're looking to impress or just need privacy then the second level should be your request.

I was really hoping to like this place...

The setting was nice, but certainly more casual than I'd expected. From where we were seated near the bar, it felt a little like an upscale sports bar... My real issue was with the food. We started with the wild boar ravioli, which was undercooked with a definite Chef Boyardee quality. The mushroom app with puffed pastry didn't have a lot going on either. I had the duck breast and our server seemed shocked to hear me give a temp. "Medium rare? The chef suggests like a medium..." My date had the ribeye and the meat quality was bad (yes, I know it's a fatty cut, but this was just bad).

On the positive side... The wine list was good and very reasonably priced, our server was attentive and pleasant (but not very knowledgeable), and we didn't have to wait for a table (on a Friday).

I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but in this case, I felt compelled to warn people. I read the other reviews on here and took my husband to 1111 for his birthday. We were seated in a crowded location, with the other tables only inches away. The most aggravating thing was our server, who questioned what we ordered (especially our wine choices) and did so with a condescending attitude. It was very embarrassing and a real damper on a special evening. This is absolutely not the place to go for privacy or a romantic meal. Additionally, we both felt the menu was limited. On the positive side, we did enjoy the cheese platter, and I liked the bread--but those were the only highlights of the experience. For his entree, my husband had the "wild boar," which was overcooked and flavorless. I tried the stuffed chicken, which only tasted like the Dijon sauce smothered all over it. We also recognized the "gourmet" cheese on top of his dish; it was the same cheese we buy every week from Costco. It's OK cheese, but it's not what we expected or paid for. The entire experience was not worth the price or time. If you do go there, I truly hope your experience will be better than ours.

I highly recommend 1111 Mississippi. From the first phone call to make the reservation, until the payment of the check, the whole experience was amazing. I went to 1111 Mississippi with a group of girl friends. To our surprise they had us seated in the wine room. It was wonderful being slightly separated from the main dining area, yet we didn't feel excluded from the fun atmosphere. I ordered the wild boar ravioli for an appetizer. It was excellent. The ravioli was cooked just right and the sauce that topped it was very flavorful. The wild boar was delicious. We each ate about 3 pieces of bread, it was that good! I ordered the halibut and exchanged the squash for goat cheese polenta. It was a wonderful combination. The halibut was very flavorful and prepared perfectly. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He treated us so well. Probably the best waiter I have had in years. It was a perfect place for our girls night out. We ordered gooey butter cake for dessert, it was not as gooey as we would have liked. Our waiter asked us about it and we told him we didn't feel it was as great as we thought it would be. He immediately offered us our choice of another dessert. We choose the bread pudding with caramel sauce. It was the BEST bread pudding! We were thrilled with the second dessert. Everything was perfect at 1111. We were very excited to get a girls night out (we are 30 something's with kids). We had high expectations and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant for a girls night out or even a couples night out. I also saw a group with a baby! Highly recommended, one of the best restaurants in St. Louis.

This is one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. I have been 3 times and each time have had a fabulous time. While some of the entrees can be pricey there is a good variety on the menu and it is easy for even the most budget conscience diner to find something yummy. The food is incredible. From the "BLT" (with lobster... and LOTS of it!!!) to the pork chops to the oven fired pizzas, everything is well balanced and extraordinary in every way.
Apart from the incredible food, the ambience is exceptional. There are many fireplaces to gather around or nooks to get cozy in. You just get an overall warm feeling sitting inside.
I highly recommend this restaurant as a first date. It has the added benefit of being around the corner from Bailey's Chocolate Bar. What girl could resist?

I went with a few friends. I had heard about it, and was not dissapointed in the least. The wine selection is great, and so are the apetizers if you are in for some different things. I was amazed when I saw trout, rabbit, and wild boar in the menu, but everything was delicious. Great and prompt service too!

This is one of those restaurants that can be either the best meal you've ever had, or a disappointing experience. It depends on the night, and your server, as far as I can tell. But, luckily, I have had many more of the "best meals" than the disappointments. Their wine list is extensive--try a wine flight. They also have prix fixe "Tuscan Tuesdays" and California Trios on Thursdays that are always interesting.

The Ribeye and Stuffed Pork Chops are phenomenal! The flatbreads are usually delicious, however, the grilled chicken w' artichokes and pesto was bland on a recent visit--not enough salt or garlic in the pesto. All of the fish entrees I have tried have been delicious, and their sandwiches are great for lunch. I would like to see more options on the dessert menu, but, in all honesty, I should be thankful for the lack of temptation!

Bottom line--this is a great restaurant with a creative menu and friendly service. Out of 15 visits, you might have 14 amazing experiences and one dud. Then again, 1111 Mississippi has been around long enough to be dud-free by now. But, as good as they are 14/15 times--I'll take my chances.

Eleven Eleven is a great place to eat because of the great food and wonderful atmosphere. The food is a little pricey for dinner, but not bad for lunch, but it is well worth it. I have not tried anything that I did not like at this restaurant. They also have a great selection of wine, including a sampler that allows you to try 3 of the wines they have chosen to showcase.

I have had a lot of steak. I probably order the steak at most evey place I go unless the special sounds better. I have to say that my wife and I agree that the ribeye is the best meat we have had... ever. Having eating at Gibson's in Chicago, and Capitol Grill in Scottsdale recently we have good comparisons. The service was above average, the wine we chose was good (Argentinian), the potatoes were okay. The rabbit was good, but not great, but the polenta was excellent. As far as appetizers go, the wild boar ravioli was good, but the mussels were much better. Get the dessert sampler and you will be pleased. We will be going back as soon as we can.

I went with a group of 6 where it was the first time I was happy to have a table back in the corner to diffuse the noise coming from the main portion of the dining room. Our server was friendly, but a bit too friendly when he started chumming up to us and neglecting his character as a server. A few of the entrees arrived way too done, and we suspected the cause were the BRIGHT orange food warmers (that I believe doubled as "mood lighting") back in the kitchen. Maybe I need to go back with a smaller group and try this experience again, but for now I have a bad taste of charred filet in my mouth.

Keeping in step with the trend of renovating depressed areas of St. Louis, 1111 Mississippi set up shop in an old factory building south of downtown. The multi-level restaurant adorned in dark wood and wall hangings boasts several fireplaces throughout. The service as well as the atmosphere is warm and cozy. My friends and I dined here around the holidays. The place was packed; but our food was impeccably prepared and the wine list left little to be desired. We enjoyed a warm, wonderful evening by the fire downstairs. Order the pan seared halibut w/ sautéed zucchini, squash & saffron butter sauce. To die for!

Not sure how safe the area is, but we had to park on the street and walk to the restaurant. This and the fact that there's no place within walking distance for a nightcap are really the only drawbacks to speak of.

Coming fro NYC I'll admit that we're a bit hard to impress, but this restauarant did the trick. It reminds me of some upscale restaurants in San Francisco's mission district. Excellent, imaginative food and great service. Be sure to get a table up in the loft.

I have been here twice, once for a first date and the other with friends. The wait staff is friendly and helpful, the only drawback was that the first time we felt a bit rushed. The wine selection was moderate and our waiter was helpful in picking out a wine that complimented my meal and my tastes.
It is definately very busy, so make sure you have reservations.
It is located in Lafayette which is a beautiful and historic part of town.

4 of us went on a whim and managed to get in on Saturday night w/out reservations. We had to wait a while, but the very nice bar area and fireside lounge made the time pass quickly. Everyone continued to talk about the dinner long after we were finished. Unfortunately, two of my companions returned a few months later and were disappointed. Perhaps consistency may be a pitfall. It is still worth a try.

Everyone continued to talk about the dinner long after we were finished. Unfortunately, two of my companions returned a few months later and were disappointed. Perhaps consistency may be a pitfall. It is still worth a try.

1111 is a great addition to the Layfette Square area. Wonderful ambience, great service and wine list and excellent food. The Ribeye is outstanding and sooooo good.
It is a great spot for special ocassion dining, a date, or group of friends meeting for some fine dining. Trying to impress someone from out of town with a different restaurant experience, this is the place.

Everytime I've gone to 1111 (which is only 3 times) I've had amazing service from three different servers. They've always been friendly and never talked down to me or made me feel as though I wasn't good enough to be there. The food is awesome. If you go there pay close attention to the specials. Every time I go I never order off the main menu because the specials always sound so amazing. But I do recommend everything I've ever had. I love sitting outside, but if it's too cold I recommend inside as well. It's a little dark, so be careful if you have trouble seeing.

This place has such potential but will die on the vine unless changed. The attitude of the staff was that of a trendy place in South Beach Miami not mid westren Saint Louis. The Wine Manager was an idiot and really was quite full of himself. Sadly he did not know alot about wine. The service was just poor from the time we walked in the door to at our table. The food was ok not bad not great. The place has a great decor and great potential. I have been there twice but having had the same experiece both times will not run back anytime soon.

My friends and I gave this place a chance but were extremely disappointed. The hostess/owner was extremely snobby. The food is mediocre and overpriced, especially when St. Louis has much better options. The wine director, who clearly thinks he is younger and better looking than he is, hit on all the girls at my table, while at the same time acted pretentious. My friends and I left feeling robbed and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this place at all.

Our server was'nt very attentive. Had to wait for a drink order, food wasn't cooked to order & had to be sent back, after having to wait 8 min. to get a chance to send it back, heard 2 other tables complain, slow on drink orders.

1111 Mississippi is quickly becoming one of Saint Louis best restaurants. There is not a better value for the food, service and ambiance in Saint Louis. The restaurant cateers more to a winter oriented atmosphere and it will be interesting to revisit the restaurant in Spring and Summer to see how the feel changes.

The food was spectacular and the entire evening was fabulous, the only thing I would complain about is the proximity of the two top tables. The wine list is premier and offers a great variety of wines for begineers and wine conasuiers alike. Like it or not, I need to get used to the NY feel of a restaurant as space becomes a premium at any restaurant. 1111 Mississippi will become a favorite of ours and a staple to the Saint Louis scene for years to come! Reservations are a must for weekend dining.
