Of the many problems with this church, I'll focus on just one. There is no doubt that they are Masonic. I saw many of the signs; heard many of the phrases. The "Pastor's" "wife" works for Shriner's hospital. Freemasons are not the do-gooders club that many think they are. Ultimately the leader of the Freemasons is Satan/Lucifer - Unfortuneately the same can be said of Watson Terrace Christian Church.

The CRAZY person who wrote about my sister, Ellen KING, is indeed CRAZY! LOL
Ellen does indeed use the same name that is on her LICENSE by the State! Get real here....MOST professional women use their licensed name in their own professions.
I hate to say this, but do believe there might be a deranged person loosed on the public, and that same person has posted here.
Watson Terrace Church MAY be very small, but if you go, you will find love and acceptance.
Personally? If I were my sister Ellen? I'd be looking for somekind of legal advice about the INSANE comment about her, here.
(Btw, FYI...the CRAZY person from Greenville is where my sister lived with her ex husband of MANY years. He/she sounds slightly deranged, to say the least, and IF that person can be tracked down? Uh, I'd be the very FIRST person to help my sister SUE the pants off of him/her....SHAME on you, sick person in Greenville! SHAME)

Visiting WTCC a few times per year from Indiana, I know it to be a church where practical sermons are derived and delivered from the word of God.

Through the instructional and challenging (free) newsletter that I receive monthly I've been made aware that this little congregation has just raised nearly $3000.00 to send to Haiti.

I know that this church involves itself with feeding and clothing the poor, building community with public cook-outs, yardsales, etc., glorifying the name of our Savior through its works such as the one mentioned above and providing counsel to the distraught.

For a church this size to accomplish so much should assure the participants that one day they will hear our Lord praise them with those finest of words, "Well done, good and faithful servant"

This is something to be a part of.

I visited this church recently and was very disappointed. The sermon was terrible and the music was even worse. Since there was only a handful of people there, I wondered if they were going to have the service. Unfortunately they did; and I understood the low attendance. Save your time, there are several other great churches in the area.

WTCC is not my home congregation, though I have been there many times. It is a small, friendly congregation where everyone knows each other--a real community. The church is committed to service not only to its members but to the surrounding neighborhood and community, and is dedicated to supporting the needy.

Unfortunately, the negative, dishonest comments and false accusations here are all from a very spiteful (and, it is suspected, mentally ill) elderly man who has been obsessed with Rev. King for 15 years or more, even to the point of publishing a blog about him with a bizarre, rambling 50 page or so manifesto. Rev. King has never responded to this Mr. Gaffner or spoken to him in decades, though Mr. Gaffner continues to obsessively stalk Rev. King and post his slanders wherever he can.

Contrary to Mr. Gaffner's libels, the visitor to this church will find sound, practical preaching from the gospel, kind and welcoming people, and lots of opportunities to be part of a community of worship and service.

They will walk your dog and take your sick elderly aunt to the doctor, but lookout! When your head is turned, your inheritance will be gone! Check it out its public record.

Pros: Preying Elders/Owners

Cons: Bill Brown helps your relatives sign their $ away to himself

The review by EJHENTZE is hilarious!!! She is Ellen J Hentze the so called wife of Carl King, the pastor of Watson Terrace. The entire congregation thinks her name is Ellen King, but just ask to see her driver's license or her food certificate in their kitchen. Better yet, call her at Shriner's Hospital to see which name she is currently using. Oh by the way, her divorce records are public in Greenville, Il;
and they cite her ex-husband was given a divorce from her on grounds of adultery with Carl King. Go read some of the crazy things she has done and said, and you will see why you should stay away from this Adam's family pair!!! It's a public record and it's true.

People of all walks of life feel welcome here. Neighborhood involvment is frequent and friendly. The local community is very involved in supporting church activities. A bogus criticism written by a man from a different state who has never been to watson terrace was taken down by Poynter Online due to unsubstantiated claims. Come and see for yourself!

What's with defrocked Presbyterian Ministers?

The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, recently protested outside of a south St. Louis, MO church.

SNAP claims Reverend Carl King of the Watson Terrace Christian Church had inappropriate contact with a mentally challenged congregant.

The group handed out court documents to churchgoers, including a restraining order filed on behalf of the woman.

Reverend King has not been charged with any crime, but SNAP says he was stripped of his Presbyterian ordination for previous misconduct at 1st Presbyterian Church in Greenville, IL.

David Clohessy, SNAP National Director said??In many states its illegal for a minister to have a sexual involvement with members of their congregation.

He's done it twice, now with a mentally challenged woman who, by no stretch of the imagination, could consent to a sexual involvement.

Snap says they just want the Watson Terrace Church members to know his background. The church refused to comment.

While the Watson Terrace church is a member of the Disciples of Christ denomination, King is not a recognized ordained minister of the denomination, according to the Rev. Penny Ross-Corona, an area minister for the Southeast Gateway Area of the Christian Church.

Each congregation within the Disciples of Christ denomination selects its own pastor, regardless of their ordination, she said. "Because Carl King does not have standing with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we have no authority over him nor do we have any authority over the congregation's decision to employ him," she said in a statement.

On Sunday, church members at Watson Terrace disputed the allegations, and some tore up SNAP's leaflets.

SNAP's documents allege that King had been accused of sexual misconduct involving a woman at 1st Presbyterian Church in Greenville, IL and and now again at Watson Terrace Christian Church.

King was defrocked by Presbyterian USA in 1992.
