I discovered Talayna's by accident back in 1983, back when it was on Skinker, and thought I'd died and went to heaven. The amazing decor then had the stained glass from bombed out churches in Europe in World War II. I live outside Chicago, and I still tell everyone here that the best Chicago style pizza is in St. Louis (at Talayna's). I always hit Talayna's when I am in St. Louis (which is my home town, actually). ONE time the pizza was not the best - a super thin crust was just average. The caesar salad is to die for - the way a caesar salad is meant to be done - pure bliss and plenty of real garlic and properly wilted romaine. In spite of the one thin crust below standard, I give it 5 stars.

This St. Louis thin crust makes my mouth water. I normally burn the roof of my mouth when I eat it because I can't wait for it to cool off. The atmosphere is eclectic, as they've brought a lot of the things from the original location at the northeast corner of Forest Park Parkway and Skinker Boulevard, across from Washington University.

Pros: St. Louis thin crust, great sauce,

Cons: provolone cheese sticks to your teeth :)

.

it is supposed to be famous for the pizza, but i find it to be sub par. there are so many other good pizza places in st.louis. and the interior is not that nice.

Takes us 35 minutes to get there. WELL worth the trip, whether dining in or carry out, it's THE ONLY place we go for pizza. And the staff? Always friendly. Always courteous. We love Talayna's!

I love this place, Talayna's has the best house dressing, the creamy Italian. so good. The thin crust is 50% better tasting than Imos too, they make there crust fresh every day, while Imos uses a conveyor belt and assembly line creates there pizzas. I will always come back to eat here for the rest of my life. The managers are always stopping by to give samples and making sure our experience is excellent, and it always is. My favorite server is Sarah, she always takes good care of us when our family of five comes in. I enjoy coming in after Twilight Tuesday at the History Museum with my 1/2 price pizza coupons that are handed out during the show. Also, they have the tastiest summer frozen bar drinks. I have nothing bad to say about this classic Italian pizza restaurant. It is not only pizza either, they have amazing Porter house steaks, Cod and Fett with sea food. I rate it a ten, and recommend it to all my friends, but most everyone already knows its a great treat.

Talayna's at the Park looks as though it is falling apart. Almost the entire wait staff all seemed to be high on something - and I'm not kidding. Service was slow, insincere, and sketchy. The bar area is unusually better lit than the dining area - I'm talking bright lights. I seriously felt like I had entered into the twilight zone/bizarre-o land. The food, however, is awesome. I had the pizza and garlic cheese bread and both were great. I suggest carry-out although be prepared to be put on hold for a while before placing your order.

I'd been going to Talayna's once or twice a year since 1996 (at their old location) to get my Chicago-style pizza fix when I couldn't get up to Chicago, and the last visit was my last visit. The service has always been horrible, whether the place was busy or empty, but I always forgave that because it beat a 9-hour round trip to get good pizza. Our group got toasted raviolis for an appetizer because there was someone in our party who was from out-of-town and hadn't had them. They were great. The pizza, however, was not served in a pan because it clearly was not necessary. Gone was the pizza with substance and the plentiful tomato chunks, and it was replaced with the thinnest, most sickly-looking Chicago/St. Louis hybrid pizza. Now I must find a new source of Chicago-style pizza in St. Louis.

The best thin crust pizza in the world. The pizza crust can not be matched by other thin crust Pizza in St. Louis. If you like Imo's you will flip over this pizza. Get a coupon from a Schnucks receipt in Ladue. Also every other kind of pizza is excellent. You can not go wrong. The resturant is not fancy though and could use some updates but forget about that and just concentrate on the Pizza!!!

The taste of Talayna's is fantastic. I have gone here every since I was a little kid and I still crave this pizza even when I am away at college.... Great price, great pizza, great service.
