I can't vouch for all the stylists at this salon but I can say that I will continue to be faithful client of Grant. He is very knowledgeable and friendly but surprisingly quick as well! The salon stays super busy but he takes the time to listen to my ideas and concerns each visit and he hasn't let me down yet! If you're looking for fantastic stylist who will deliver request Grant, you won't be disappointed!

while the salon looks great with "trendy" stylists...i don't think they have expirienced or "great" stylists. I am not sure why this salon has so much hype because i've gone a few times and i've never left feeling all that good about my hair. Granted, i have long, thick hair so I need someone who really knows how to cut it -- just never found that person at Dominics and i've tried 4 different stylists bc they are so close to my house! and as for their greetings and receptionists, AWFUL. the stereotypical catty girls busy looking at themselves in the mirror. One girl actually rolled her eyes at me when i walk in!

I have been going to Shaudi to get my hair cut & styled for almost 3 years, and I have NEVER walked out of Dominic Michael feeling less than confident and sexy about my hair! Before Shaudi, I had never done anything to my hair except boring trims...but I was always curious about spicing things up! After a few sessions with Shaudi, she made me feel VERY comfortable (and excited!) about experimenting with different hair colors and lengths. I went from blonde to a deep auburn red and love, love LOVE the color! Shaudi even clued me in to all of the professional development classes the stylists at Dominic Michael participate in that allow them to keep learning about new styles and trends their customers may want! All of the stylists are very easy to talk to and really listen to what their clients want. They will never let you leave the salon feeling anything less than perfect! I always look forward to my appointments at Dominic Michael.

When I moved to the area, I had a really hard time finding someone that could give me the natural blonde look that I wanted. I found Shaudi about two years ago and have never been happier! She is very good with getting it just right every time- cut and color. The salon is centrally located and has a very cozy feel. I have always had a great experience at Dominic Michael.

I went to Shaudi for a cut and a full highlight. After the cut my hair had no body or movement. It was very disconnected. She is very inexperienced in color as well. The highlights were very brassy and terrible looking. I had to go somewhere else to get the cut and color corrected. It was a very uncomfortable 2 hours at Dominic Michaels. I would not recommend her at all or the salon.

Lis (Elisabeth Greenberg) cut my hair last night.

I came in looking like a mess and walked out looking and feeling like a million dollars!

During my time there, Lis evaluated my hair style and condition and recommended a cut that would look best for my face and my particular hair texture.

She was friendly and helpful and even showed my how I could maintain my new hair style and sold me the products needed to do the job.

I'm going to tell all my friends about her!

I've been seeing Allison at Dominic Michael for almost two years now. She works at both the Chesterfield and Clayton locations. She never fails to give me a great haircut and blowdry and is always able to smooth out my super curly hair. She gives me a cut that will work perfectly if I want to wear it straight or curly which I've found is hard to do in my experiences with other stylists. I like the overall atmosphere of DM it's very classy and professional. Yes it's a higher price point then other salons but it's well worth it for the quality and attention you get. Everyone deserves to pamper themselves every now and then and that is why I keep coming back to DM.

I first went to Dominic Michael because I couldn't get in with my normal stylist back home and a friend recommended me here. I wasn't sure what to expect since the price of a haircut is more here than what I normally will spend. I saw Michael and I expressed that I felt in a hair slump because I have been getting pretty much the same cut for the past 2 years and felt that my hair just lied on my shoulders doing nothing. He was able to keep my length long and really gave it new life and shape. I loved the way he cut my bangs so much that I will even be going back for bang trims from inbetween my cuts. He blow dried my hair out with a round brush and gave my styling tips I can do at home so I am not doing the same boring look everyday. My other stylist would have me cut and dry in around 30 min, I was at DM for a little less than an hour and I think I also recieved a supieror cut than I used to get so I think the higher cost of the haircut is worth it.

FYI: They don't allow you to add tip to your credit card or checks so bring cash or write a seperate check for tip. There is a bank with an ATM next door you can run through really fast as well!

I have been to Dominic Michael for a variety of services from a cut to a facial and have never been disappointed. The staff is always very polite and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this salon to everyone!

Prior to coming to Dominic Michael, I had never spent more than $20 on my haircuts. At the recommendation of a friend, I checked it out a couple of years ago and I have never been happier. When I first started going to DM for my haircuts, I decided to go short. Kim made it easy for me, letting me know what would and wouldn't work with my hair texture. I've since decided to grow it out, and every time I've gotten a trim, Kim's managed to keep as much length as possible, while maintaining a stylish shape. When Kim has not been available, I've gone to various other stylists and I've never been unhappy with my blow outs. I highly recommend Dominic Michael, especially Kim, if you're looking for a talented and knowledgeable stylist/salon.

I should have known when I called to make my appointment that something was a miss at this so called premier salon. The receptionist could barely make my appointment. She was not knowledgable in hair care and when I asked to consult with the stylist I had seen before she said that she couldn't and just said she would put something in the computer. When I got to my appt. my stylists said that I needed more than just the top of my hair highlighted but more like a full highlight. So from the beginning the appt. was scheduled to short. After my color and wash my stylist said that she was done. I just kind of looked at her and asked if she was going to dry my hair that it was cold outside???? She said that the appt. did not say a style so she could not blowdry my hair......I asked if Icould please use her blowdryer....so while my stylist stood there I blowdryed my hair....this was a bad sign....I was very disappointed that she didn't offer to blow dry it herself and apologize that the receptionist didn't even ask if I wanted this service???? When leaving and paying the hefty bill I asked to leave a tip on the cc that I paid with.....well, they don't allow you to tip on cc?????? What????? So I did not have cash or a check???? The receptionist might want to tell the customers that when they make an appt. This is too much work to just get your hair done....

I had long hair that doesnt have good layers. Grant transformed my hair today! He was very kind and sweet and he definitely knew what he was doing with my hair.

No need to speak too long for good service and good haircut. Not the price I love to pay every 12 weeks but it sure is a darn good pampering session with a warm personality!

Thanks DM and thanks Grant!

I have been getting my hair cut at this salon for the past two years and have had three different stylists with good results. I have a newborn and don't have a tremendous amount of flexibility to schedule ahead with a particular stylist so i called a day prior to schedule with an available stylist. My appointment was made with Amy.

I don't really know where to begin...

The only pleasant part of the experience was my wash which was done by a very sweet girl. Seconds into the actual "cut" I wanted to walk out. She dug the comb into my scalp almost maliciously. I have long hair past shoulder length and when there was a tangle she would YANK through it. I lost count as to how many times she did it. I thought she would let up when i repeatedly winced in pain but she didn??t. I finally asked her to please ease up casting blame on the brush to which she responded ??Well your hair is tangled.? in a very spiteful tone and continued yanking through them.

She cut my hair wet and it was the laziest cut i have ever seen. I kept telling myself she does a dry cut and i??ll just wait until she blow dries. WOW! The most painful blow dry of my life. Like i said i have thick hair which didn??t help. She used a roller brush yanking each piece of hair and my hair kept getting caught at the edge of the brush. I asked her again trying to be lighthearted to ease up and she kept at it responding ??Yeah this brush does that.?

She did a couple snips for show at the end and when she went to show me her masterpiece she couldn??t even get her hands through my hair. I looked confused and said ??Are you sure you took enough off? It still feels like i have a lot of split ends.? Her response, ??You hardly had any to begin with and i took a half inch off.? as she was cleaning up her work station. THEN as if not enough i go to check out and was charged $70....SEVENTY DOLLARS. My eyes got huge. ??I??m sorry i only had a trim? ??Well Amy is a level-4 stylist so it??s more expensive than your usual stylists.? Apparently i payed the extra $30 to get manhandled.

I called first thing the next morning asking to speak to a manager. The receptionist kept asking if i would express my grievance to her and i said this was an issue i would greatly prefer to discuss with management. I left my name and number. Still no response.

I just pray no other individual has to endure that type of experience and PAY for it!!!

Dominic is a Master Cutter, I was new to town (form Oklahoma) and had asked about the best Salons in the area. Dominic Michael Salon kept coming up as a "place to go". I asked for the owner, Dominic. my hair looks Fabulous.....loads of compliments he was charming and skilled! I will be Dominics Client as long as live in STL.

Pros: Excellent Cut Excellent Service

Cons: None to speak of

I've been getting my hair cut by Dominic himself for three years and he continues to to stun me. I've lived in two metropolitan cities and seen many stylists who do not know how to cut my curly hair. But Dominic is a master.

If you have curly hair, long or short, I recommend him.

In this economy, customer service should definately be top priority if you want return clients. After waiting up front for quite some time while Im told to "go get washed" I am then placed in Dominic's chair as he is pacing throughout the salon on his cell phone. It's cold and I continue to wait! Dominic comes over, rushes through my "consultation" and he starts to cut. I think i waited longer than it actually took to cut/style my hair! Everything about this service felt rushed. I felt like i was in an assembly line hair salon! I didnt feel like I was at all important and will definately not return.

THANK YOU STEVEN D. M. for a great cut!!!
Its been a long time, searching high and low, since I have been able to find someone with the experience and most importantly CONFIDENCE in cutting my hair. I have found my new hair Mecca which i will return to again and again knowing i will get courteous service from the reception and a great stylist who will understand my hair type and how to execute a proper cut and style for my face.
Thank you again to the receptionist who guided me to the right person and to Steven for the care and time in cutting my hair right. Thank you!

Service was just so so and he was running around like a crazyman. Dominic is a medium sized fish in a very small cloudy pond. Get off your erratic a** and learn some respect/ethics for your stylist and clients. When I was there I couldnt get over how unprofessional things seemed to be "running". And that twirling Tyler...my goodness, get somewhere and sit down. This used to be a high profile salon people wanted to go to...what the hell happened. Maybe you should look into some continuing education... I will most certainly not be returning.

I moved to St. Louis 8 months ago from Miami, and was referred to this salon by my realtor. I was initially terrified of possibly getting some bad mid west hair, but the entire staff was really accommodating and I liked the casualness of it. See Ashley and Lucas! They are both precise about their work and they listen!

I chose to go to Dominic Michael when I first moved to St. Louis because I was looking for an upscale salon. I went in for highlights, and already didn't think it was a good sign when the fit me into the schedule the same day I called. My colorist smelled like cigarettes. It was awful having her hands so close to my face and nose! After she foiled me, she started on another client, and left me to process. Then when I was done processing, she told me to sit at one of the sinks and wait for someone to wash my har out. I did, and finally someone came over to help me and was confused as to why I was sitting there waiting. She washed out my color, and said "there you go." NO ONE COMBED MY HAIR OUT OR DRIED IT. How are you supposed to see what your haircolor looks like if you don't blowdry it? So, I combed it out and blowdried it MYSELF. Then I had to find my way to the front of the salon myself and find my top to change out of the cape I was wearing. WORST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER, I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE. Oh, the highlights weren't very good either.

Bad experience - terrible haircut that cost $100 by Dominic (who supposed to be a real professional). Paid $100 for har cut plus $160 for coloring. Now I have to cut my hair again -this time I go next door place -I'm sure they can do it much better than Dominic. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON -BIG BIG NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Chicago, where I'm from, there are a lot of great stylists. Since I'm stuck in southern Illinois for now I went to Dominic MIcheal thinkning it was the "best" around and even went to Dominic himself. What a joke, he started off by saying he wanted "to do whatever" I wanted, in the end he did what HE wanted and it wasn't even that great and after he was done had the arrogance to say he did it that way because he thought my original shape wasn't "feminine." what?? His skill is average at best, and definitely not worth the $85. I'd rather make the trip to Chicago.

Went to DM Salon as a tagalong; my boyfriend was there for a haircut. I can't say enough about the staff! As a licensed stylist myself, I was impressed to the degree of professionalism I saw there. No catty arguments or tiffs going on around clients, very upscale atmosphere. Everyone that worked there that passed by me was offering me a soda or other refreshment, or a place to sit, very accomodating and welcoming, even though I was not the paying customer myself! If I had to pick the best salon I'VE ever been to, it would be Dominic Michael. I saw the work they did on customers, and it was gorgeous. Obviously they are not only great at customer service, they are a talented group.

i recently moved from nyc to stl and was trying to find a great salon/stylist here. after my first visit to dominic michael salon, i walked out with a terrible haircut from a senior stylist. my long layers were mutilated...he left 3 inches of stringy, overly thinned-out hair at the bottom and there was a big hole in the back where too much hair was cut out. i had it fixed elsewhere b/c i didn't want to go back to d.m. salon after getting a horrible haircut. to fix it, my hair is now 5 inches shorter! i called and spoke with dominic himself about the experience. he was VERY rude to me on the phone and in no way tried to make me feel better about the bad experience. bottom line....terrible haircut and terrible customer service!!!

i recently moved from nyc to stl and was trying to find a great salon/stylist here. after my first visit to dominic michael salon, i walked out with a terrible haircut from a senior stylist. my long layers were mutilated...he left 3 inches of stringy, overly thinned-out hair at the bottom and there was a big hole in the back where too much hair was cut out. i had it fixed elsewhere b/c i didn't want to go back to d.m. salon after getting a horrible haircut. to fix it, my hair is now 5 inches shorter! i called and spoke with dominic himself about the experience. he was VERY rude to me on the phone and in no way tried to make me feel better about the bad experience. bottom line....terrible haircut and terrible customer service!!!

Cons: customer service

I moved to St. Louis from NYC 6 months ago and was desperate to find a salon to handle my somewhat difficult hair. I asked around and decided to try Dominic Michael. I am SO glad that I found this salon. I now go to Amy, who is one of the first stylists I've found that actually listens to what I want and gives me exactly what I requested. Was completely surprised at how affordable it is for what I receive!
