Horrible staff. Who in this place does NOT have an attitude. Did not feel welcomed at all. Very "clique-ish". My pockets run deep and i have no problem paying a high price for good work but i wouldn't invest a dime in any work out of this

I got my third tat from iron age on 8/24, two weeks went by. Got my first good look at my new tat. I was told this tat would be very simple, and would not take long. So someone please tell me why I spent $250.00, and got A JACKED-UP tattoo. I went back to talk to this ( artist ).To my surprise he did not see anything wrong, THERE A SHOCK. I'm not going to put his name on this, I feel it's in bad taste. I know there are good artist in this shop that don't deserve reviews like this, there's at least one that I know of. They would not give me my money back, just offered to fix it. I don't won't iron age to fix anything, especially a new tattoo. So in close I spent $225.00 for the tat, $25.00 for the tip, $250.00 in total. For A 5" tat, that looks like xxxx! I will never go back to iron age, It' all hype & way way overpriced. Do your homework, You will see.

I have 4 tattoos from Iron Age. One from Jeff and 3 I got at once from Sean. I like all of my tattoos, I think they are beautiful, but I think I have a little more respect for Jeff. If you go to their website Jeff'f's portfolio is smaller, but he did my first tattoo of a butterfly that he drew for me and I love it. He took his time, even though it did hurt, I had five colors in my tattoo and a lot of shading and it's my favorite. It was not overpriced at all. I also think Sean did a good job but I thought for the time and effort put into the tattoos I feel like I paid a little too much, but regardless I would go back. I would defitinitly reccomend Iron Age to anyone. Thanks guys!

I love this shop. I have had small and large tattoos done here. I get comments everywhere I go on how amazing they are. My mom has now gone to Iron Age after seeing my art. You go in with an idea and they turn it into something amazing. Mo and Josh are my artist. I recomend either of them. You will pay a bit more but as mom always says "you get what you pay for" I wont skimp on somethng that is on my body forever or go elsewhere to save 20 bucks. This is the only place to go for tattoos in STL.

everywhere i go i get stopped by multiple people to ask where i get my artwork done. they are *always* asking about the pieces done by Iron Age. crazy detailed, beautiful work. the shop is immaculate. i will never go anywhere else in saint louis for a tattoo. the second question is usually how much did i pay in comparison to other places... you get what you pay for obviously! you don't compare applebees to the best restaurant in town.

piercings are done by artists doing it for years - at least. huge jewelry selection, and willing to do custom orders if you are looking for something they don't have.

I have gotten two tattoos and a piercing at Ironage and had looked at them as being a premier tattoo shop in the St. Louis area. The tattoo shop of my choice. Upon my third visit for a tattoo that was not the case at all. I was quoted an outrageous price of more than I had paid for in the past for something very small. The tattoo I wanted probably would have taken about 20 minutes at the most. The person who quoted me the price got defensive when I asked why the price was so high. All I know is that I will never patronize Ironage Tattoos anymore. What makes it so bad is that I went to Allstar Tattoo and he was very pleasant and quoted me a price of three times less than what I was quoted at Ironage. It's bad that people think because they have made a name for themselves they can get over on people who keep their business running. DON'T GO THERE PLEASE!!!!. They are not L.A or Miami Ink which I think they think they are.

I have three tattoos, all from Iron Age over the years. The first tattoo was a little over priced, but was good quality, the second was great quality and fairly priced, so of course I went back for my third there....by far the worst experience there being extremely overpriced, poor quality, rough (it was the most painful even though it was on the least sensitive area), and the artist was not friendly in any way. I will be going to another shop the next time around to find a more reasonable priced tattoo in a more friendly setting.

I went in with an idea for a tattoo and came out with way more than expected. Brad Fink was my artist. He is extremely talented. He took my idea and created a custom piece that turns heads everywhere. If you want a exceptional tattoo, clean shop and friendly fun staff this is your place.

First, go somewhere else for your tattoos and piercings! I got a tattoo at Iron Age and I was treated like a number. It kinda felt like I was in a herd of cattle and one after the other being systematically branded. The guy who did my tattoo was rude and didn't even bother to greet me (he just stood there waiting for me to look over) or thank me for my business. I got the feeling he would have rather been somewhere else and he was just trying to get me in and out. I also feel they are way overpriced. I got NO aftercare information for my tattoo from the artist or the other employee who rang me up and signed me in, which to me seems very unprofessional. I was warned by a couple people not to go to Iron Age for tattoos or piercings. I really should have listened. But for a place that is voted number 1 in St. Louis, certain things are expected and none of my expectations were met. I was completely stunned by the whole experience and didn't speak up. I guess I was waiting for things to turn around but they didn't. A friend who came with me agreed the artist was rude and that the whole situation was unpleasant. I'm just glad he didn't screw up my tattoo, though he could have done a better job because it was a rather simple design.

EDIT: I stupidly went back a couple years later with a friend. We wanted to get a very small, very simple design of 4 letters. What a terrible tattoo we both got!! We should have walked out when they quoted us $50 for letters that were not even a centimeter high and an inch long in total. Turns out the guy who did ours was an apprentice and yet they still charged us what they did. I'm getting this ink removed and will tell anyone and everyone who will listen to never go to Iron Age.

This place is too cool for school, with a rock star attitude and high prices. The artwork of some of these artisits are really great, but shop around and you'll find beautiful work at other shops (PORTFOLIO PORTFOLIO PORTFOLIO).
Think about the memories you may want regarding your special piece of artwork and the expierence surrounding your piece!

If you make the decision to have a tattoo done, you must feel comfotable with the artist and the location. In every metropolitan area, there's one place to go for quality inkwork. In Chicago, it's the Jade Dragon. In St. Louis, it's definitely Iron Age in the U City Loop. The artists there are skilled and the place is quality all the way. I got my first tattoo there and have never left. With something so permanent, why not go to the best?

I had my belly pierced here, years ago. They are still there, I believe they updated! I was impressed with the knowledge of the staff. They are really into their work. They really care about customers. They know their "usuals" by name. It really impressed me how clean they were. They calmed my fears, walking me through the whole process. They have a great selection of jewelry too.

This second floor tattoo parlor in University City is a great place to go for tattoos or body piercings. They are very professional, clean and they do great work. I would highly recommend trying them out! They are usually busy so you might want to call and make an appointment. Or, you could walk around University City while waiting. There are many cool shops there to browse.

I got a tat done here by one of the excellent staff and it was a great experience. They were very sanitary and professional. The price did not bother me because the work was well above and beyond my expectations. I would suggest making an appointment because the wait was a bit much, I guess it gives you time to consider the permanance of what you're about to do.

I'm only 17, so when I went to get my piercing, my dad was very interested in the cleanliness and knowledge of the staff and he was thoroughly impressed. They showed him the auto-clav, used to clean the instruments, and let him watch while they set up to ensure cleanliness. They answered all my questions and have continued to be extremely helpful.
