I had an 8 am appointment on 7-8-16 for a Missouri state inspection. We dropped the car of the day before and left the keys in the drop box. At approx. 10 am my wife called and asked if they were finished. She was told they we just starting on it and should be finished in about an hour. At approx. 12 pm my wife had driven by the shop and saw our car had moved position in the parking lot and was on the other side, so she called and asked if they were finished. They said they were working on it now, everything looked good and they were almost finished. She asked how they were working on it, because she had just seen it outside. they said the just pulled it out for a sec for a rush job. About 2:30 pm they called my wife and said it needed about $585 of repairs, and they would be done with the inspection in about an hour. The inspection report calls for brake pads less than one-thirty-second of and inch, and rear control arm bushing torn out allowing excessive wheel movement. They called back about 3:30, to see if we wanted to do the repairs, I told them no not yet, and i would pick up the car. They said they would get it ready. I arrived about 4:15 to get my car and they still had it hooked up to a computer. Had to wait another 15 minutes for them to finish, inspection time on my report is 4:32:05 pm. I changed the rear brakes myself and found the inside pads to be about .125 thick, and the insides to be about 1/16, twice the limit. Then when i checked for rear play according to the manual, I found no play at all. I then took the car to a different shop and paid for another safety only inspection. They came back and told me they could find no play at all in the rear wheel, but the front right wheel had a damaged sway bar end link. This also is the wheel that Hi-tech claims to have checked! So not only did they fabricate problems to charge money, the didn't catch the actual problem that was a true safety issue. I passed the emissions, and I am happy to pay for it, but was charged $12 for a fake safety inspection.

My whole family has been taking their vehicles to HI-TECH Automotive for about the past 5 years. The owner, Tim, and his friendly and helpful staff has never let us down. We know we can trust them to take care of our vehicles and fix them within a reasonable amount of time. They have always been honest and thorough with our repairs. I would recommend to anyone and everyone!

I used to love Hi-Tech Automotive until recently. They seemed honest, cheap, and trustworthy. At the end of 2011 that all changed though. I took my car to them because I was experiencing quite a few problems. They diagnosed it, told me what was wrong, and said it would be around $500 to fix. I had them do the work and I picked my car back up later that night. The very next morning, the check engine light came back on and I was experiencing the same problems as before. I took it back into them and they told me it was a different problem (yet with the same part of the car they just replaced). I had them do the work and it cost me another $425. The morning after I picked my car back up from them, the check engine light came back on. I called them and told them, but I couldn't afford to bring it back to them right away since I had just given them close to $1000 in the last two weeks. The problems got worse and worse, and when I called them about it a week later, they told me it needed to be towed to them because they didn't feel it was safe to drive. I told them I got free towing with my car insurance and they assured me that they would get it for me. They charged me for the tow even though I told them I could get it done for free myself. This time they told me my car had a whole new slew of problems, but I chose not to have them do the work. I took it to a new mechanic, and this is the report I got:\n\nCustomer had the intake caskets done somewhere else. They were not done right. Coil connectors were broken, injector connectors were broken, no gasket on EGR valve, intake gasket surface not cleaned, parts of old gasket were still there. One bolt on coil missing, 1 bolt on throttle bracket missing, air box not bolted on, and vacuum hose not connected.\n\nI will never take any of my cars to Hi-Tech Automotive, and I will tell everyone I know to never take their vehicles there.
