I had recently purchased four stock chrome rims for my 1998 Ranger. (185,000 miles) They were pristine in every way so off I went to Dobbs in St Peters and purchased four new Goodyear Wranglers. Dobbs did a fantastic job and the ride was as smooth as glass on the highway.
It was one week later that I made the mistake of asking Tucker Tire to turn the tires inside out to hide the raised white letters and of course, rebalance everything. (I prefer black walls)
Tucker made four serious F$%# ups with my wheels and tires.
First, they dented the living hell out of the rims.
Second, they left my shiny chrome rims covered in monkey grease.
Third, they dangerously overfilled the tires to 44 lbs.The sticker on the truck says they should be filled to 30 lbs, but I like a firmer ride and better milage so I usually put in 35. For some unknown reason Tucker decided that since the tires were marked " 44 max ", that's what the pressure should be. IDIOTS!
Fourth, the ride has gone completely to hell because Tucker tire hasn't got a clue how to balance tires. I had to go out of town that weekend to Texas and several times thought that if I was capable of walking the 600 miles I would have just abandoned the vehicle.
The shaking was intolerable. Instead, I had to drive the whole trip at no faster then 60 mph or the front end would have fallen off.
So now I will happily pay Dobbs to fix the truck rather than let those lug nuts at Tucker Tire touch what's left of my rims.
Take a drive past the shop on Washington and see how they put cars up on the rack. They DON'T ! They put your car up on four floor jacks. What's that tell ya.
Don't be a sucker. Stay away from this primate cage...
