This hotel has underwent a major renovation and is wonderful. The rooms are very much updated and a welcome change from the standard branded hotels. The staff is super helpful and always have a nice greeting for you at any time of the day.

Cheshire Lodge is an old English style hotel near Forest Park. We spent our honeymoon night in the bridal suite almost 40 years ago. We have been back since, and although showing some age, is very well kept. The staff is friendly, the room comfortable.

I was there a couple years ago and although the hotel was dirty and filled with a staff that you would expect to find at a junkyard, the nightclub more than made up for what the rooms and hotel staff lacked so I return July 2008 only to find the nightclub closed , Also the restaurant was closed the pool was closed but the rooms were still dirty and the staff was still arrogant, they would not refund my money so I could go to another hotel ,although I did so anyway.

We booked two nights in the Ultimate Bath and while out sightseeing the second day, the hotel called to ask when we were planning to check out. We had to cancel our tee time and go back to the hotel and pack as they had also booked it out to someone else. They gave us a $50. discount and let us choose from 3 other Fantasy Suites available. We took the lesser of the 3 by choosing the Captains Quarters. The bed was so high that we were afraid if we got up in the middle of the night, we would fall and seriously hurt ourselves.

We absolutely loved the Ultimate Bath. I had made reservations 2 months in advanced. We were very disappointed that our second night was double booked, especailly since when I called for the reservation, all Fantasy Suites were available.

I would go there again, but I would be absolutely sure that the nights I reserved were what I was getting.

The condition of the Cheshire Lodge is deplorable! The lodge owner has managed to run one of the most charming hotels in St Louis into the ground. My last stay in April was horrible. The garage and pool had been condemned by the city. You had to walk on a unstable plywood bridge just to get in, The fabulous restaurant and pub closed (because the lodge owner kicked out the operators). The only available parking was on a dark alley behind the now closed restaurant (unsafe and scary). The staff is rude does not seem to care about the terrible condtions. They seem to think closing is in the very near future! The entire inside has a old stale smell. Rooms and beds are in run down condition. It is ashame what has happened to the Cheshire complex. I will not return and hope future people don't make the same mistake I made by staying there.

You can not rely on their website for accurate information. We were guests in mid-July, 2007 and the pool had been closed all summer, the underground parking lot has been condemned (per the hotel staff). They did not have adequate parking for the number of guests. They asked us to park our car on the street and for safety of our car, "we should sleep in our car".
I would not recommend this Inn to my worst enemy. For your safety, please stay somewhere else.

Good location and price but be prepared to pay for it with the worst customer service imaginable. The problems began when I attempted to confirm my reservation and the person on the phone refused to help me. Instead, he told me to call the website that I booked through. Then, my friend, who was also staying at the hotel, left his credit card at the hotel bar overnight. The next morning, he had to go through a 30-minute ordeal with the desk staff because they refused to open the lock box.

Avoid.

Pretty quiet place and you can tell they kind of like it that way. They don't go out of their way to be over the top in any way; doors, walls, fixtures are well maintained despite their age. Rooms and hallways are sanitary for sure. However, this hotel is proud of it's age and sense of history.

Specific to our one night stay was a handicapped accessible room that had all the necessary customizations in the bathroom, which is important to the handicapped. Very nice wireless internet and for those without a laptop, there is a computer room that includes a printer.

The overall feel and character is a bit of old school pampering. The strength is in the detail, the little things. Not the newest, most sterile. But solidly clean with good service. The pool was out of service during our visit, and the restaurant was closed for remodeling.

Our room was well-decorated. It was also quite spacious and clean. The staff was pleasant and courteous. Parking was quite inconvenient though because there werent a lot of parking spaces, and parking is shared with the pub. The atmosphere of the hotel was terrific. The hotel was relatively easy to find. It wasnt very quiet though.

Classic, St. Louis hotel. My parents stayed there for their honeymoon night and so did my husband and I. Very romantic and elegant. Pricey, but okay for special occasion. Staff is friendly and helpful. You can't beat the Clayton location.

This was a great hotel. The lobby was impressive and had nice furniture. Our room was large and also had nice furniture, but it was a little used. I think the hotel could use some renovation. I had parking problems and problems in my room with the air conditioning. It is close to Forest Park.

This hotel is is cozy and romantic. The Fox and the Hound is a great piano bar tucked away in the main lobby. Mark, the bartender, is wonderful as is the piano player. There is usually a fire burning when the weather is appropriate and it simply has a wonderful atmosphere.

On the other hand, the front desk staff are rude and unhelpful. In the lobby, there is absolutely no pay phone nor a local line for complimentary use. I politely requested to use the phone at the front desk and was told 'they don't just let anyone off the street use their phones'. I assume they assumed I wasn't staying in the hotel since I had chatted with them earlier and mentioned I was from St. Louis. They directed me to a pay phone in a parking lot of a nearby resteraunt!!

The Cheshire Inn located in Saint Louis Missouri is awesome! My husband stayed there a few weeks ago and was in awe! We will definitely go visit there. The prices are pretty high but the place is worth it. You can actually get a great price online. The only concern I had was when I called to confirm our reservation and add a guest they didn't really have time to talk (they were having a conference that my husband was going to and were very busy). They suggested that I call the online site and talk to them instead. But overall the Cheshire Inn is worth the price and worth staying on hold for.

This is a great hotel in the Clayton area. It's in a nice part of town where there are many restaurants and places to go nearby. The service is great here and the rooms are nicely decorated and very clean.

They also do receptions and banquet dinners here, so it's a nice choice if you are getting married and looking for a nice place. The food is great here as well.

It's a little pricey but nothing over the top. Great choice for tourists or for St. Louis residents looking for a night away.

The Cheshire Lodge was voted St. Louis' most romantic hotel. And you will be treated like royalty during your stay. Enjoy the unique English-themed decor.
