I don't know about the negative posts here. Sounds like the usual blame the health club stuff I use to get when I worked at a health club elsewhere. No matter. I like the club. Been with them for over a year. Place is always clean. Some guy name Ricky does a really good job cleaning it. The people who work there are pretty energetic and provide a fun atmoshere to exercise in. Seem to joke around with the members a lot and God they know everyone that walks into the place. I reccommend it if you're just looking for a place to workout and have some fun doing it.

St. Louis Workout is a very nice place; especially for me. I'm 74 years in age and I am still enjoying my life. I like the assistance provided to me by their staff; they are helpful and informative. I also like the monthly payment; it is very affordable. There are others like me who exercise regularly and it's nice to go to a place where everyone knows your name. (I got that saying that from the show Cheers). Don

I am delightful to tell everyone that I am entering 2011 with a healthy attitude and a body to match. Thank you St. Louis Workout for providing your services in the CWE. I lost 80 lbs last year and look forward to losing my last 7 lbs before spring. There were times when I thought of quiting but you guys kept me motivated. I appreciate the personal interest you give to your members. You guys have something very special - keep up the awesome work.

I was forced to become a member of SLW due to the closing of Gold's Gym Dw STL, and from the start, they treated me like I owed them something. After being disatified about me experience, I did what I was suppose to do and end my membership, write the letter to the co. yet I was still left with a nearly 300.00 shot on my credit report!! I dont know whether to go ahead and pay this since I was a member or fight it because I did exactly what I was told to do. So I wouldn't recommend this set-up to anyone until they prim it to keep folks from being in the hole.

I canceled my account in April 2008 per the terms in my contract for relocation. I moved back home for a little bit because of family issues. I would have kept my account suspended until I returned but the trainers were very unprofessional so I had to desire to return. At the corporate office, no one ever answered the phone or returned calls but I did finally talk to someone making sure I had all the items they needed to cancel and the guy said everything looks fine and thank you for checking back because most people don't. Well, apparently my account is still open. Actually, STL Workout sold my "debt" to collection in Dec 2008 and has been trying to collect $2135 from me which is 2 years worth of dues even though I had a 3 year contract of which I paid 1 year 5 months. I found all of this out because I couldn't book my yearly vacation because my credit cards are closing my accounts due to my credit score being jacked up for lack of better terms. It seems like from everything I've researched about this company lately, they have a reputation for scamming people out of as much money as possible and frankly ruining their lives. I was supposed to buy a house with my fiance and we were going to try to take advantage of the tax incentive, but now that this has happened, no house, wedding's on hold, I'm stressed out and depressed. Thanks alot STL Workout. If anyone can help me with dealing with them or direct me to where I can get help, please email me @ beyond.ordinary@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Most of the employees are really great. There's one, though, who works the after hours shift who is ignorant, rude and arrogant. He used to work the early evening shift. If all other conditions were perfect, which they are NOT, a good reason not to join St. Louis Workout (UNION location) is to avoid this certain ignorant, arrogant neanderthal!

This is the worst gym i ever joined. when I first signed up their whole selling point was all the additions they were going to do. when they finished the gym was the same as it was when i signed up. its always overcrowed but u can only fit five people in the first place. They hardly have any equipment and its nearly impossible to cancel your membership. I could get a better workout doing pullups from tree branches than here. this gym is a waste of your time and money. I would just join 24 hour fitnees or bally's.

I wish I had checked local business rating before handing over a year's membership fee. Not only did I experience verbal abuse from an imposingly large male employee, but was told that, because I gave 1.5 months instead of 2 months' notice not to renew, they will charge my credit card for an extra month and, if the charge is not accepted, will pursue the matter through collections and that my "credit rating will suffer." Not only is the contractual legal-ese impenetrable, the double talk from the sleazy employees is even worse.

Pros: None to speak of.

Cons: As stated.

The company's management is run by a bunch of crooks. I paid for a 2 year membership in advance so I didn't have to be on a contract. The guy who signed me up tried to pressure me into his network marketing scam. They kept my debit card on file and started debiting my account $30/mo after the membership expired. When I tried to cancel this, they said I had to send a signed letter certified mail to their corporate office with two additional months of dues in order to cancel. When I told them I was not on a contract, but a membership paid in full in advance, they threatened to place my account in collection and could collect up to "six months of dues." All of this for a facility that is overcrowded and dirty, with no towels or drinking fountain.

Ive worked out at STL workout for the past year and a half. I love it the staff always greets me when I come in the door and are happy to assist you in channel changes for the TV, workout tips, etc. I have no complaints the gym is modern and they are updating things constantly in accordance with their upcoming renovation to the gym. I cant wait till its done the staff has assured me that it will be sometime around March. If you need a neighborhood gym Id say this is the spot for you!

I have used the facilities for 3 years, and was disappointed to learn that they were closing the branch I used (Kingshighway)

I was then shocked to learn that--even with the closing branch--they would not offer a refund to those who would not be able to utilized the other branches. Steve (the owner) hid behind contractual legal-ease and was condescending.

The bottom line is that this organization lost it's "local" appeal (the one for which they charge a 15% premium over their franchise competitors). The facilities are at best mediocre, the machines are almost always fully occupied during anything approaching peak hours, and now their staff has decided to adopt a "screw you" attitude toward the clients that made them successful.

This was once a great place, but it has quickly deteriorated. Consider another, "real" local gym or else get the Gold' Gym service and facilities...you're paying for it at St. Louis Workout anyway.

Pros: Was once a very nice, friendly place to work out

Cons: Overcrowded, they close branches and provide no compensation to the people they displace

When it comes to teaching a specialized sport, I've never had a problem with anyone that comes across as arrogant if I feel they are deserving of the inflated ego. However, don't be fooled by the staff and administration at St. Louis Workout and Finney's Boxing. They provide good boxing training, but that is the extent of their professionalism, customer service and ....brains. The place is run with complete incompetence and unorganization. Problems? They don't care. Your complaints will fall on deaf ears. Their philosophy is: The staff is always right. The staff could never - ever - have possibly, done anything wrong. The customer? - Who cares! They will defend each other and risk going to court, versus listening to your legitimate complaint and correcting the system or employee. Word of warning...check them out with the right business authority before making a final choice to sign a contract with them. Isn't there a better place to box in town?

Cons: Employees, Unorganized, Arrogant Staff, Small, Crowded,

An unbelievably horrible experience. The only thing worse that than the poor conditions (hot, humid, few working pieces of equipment) are the staff and management. The employees are rude and the gym owner (Steve Taschler) was completely unresponsive to complaints. I recommend you try any other gym in town - you would be hard pressed to find one any worse.

There are 3 St. Louis Workout locations and I am reviewing their Crestwood Plaza location, so my remarks may not all apply to the Euclid location. It is an large workout facility and has LOTS of machines and lots of brands. lots of mirrors, lots of space. Seldom ever felt it was too crowded, even at rush hour. My chief complaints are the music is often way to loud - the volume often times being controlled by the latest minimum waged employee working the desk. Plus the music selection is often very obnoxious. On average I would say 60 to 70 percent of members wear their own headsets/iPods/MP3 Players.... no doubt to drown out this obnoxious loud music. Other complaint is they have the cheapest toilets in town - every single one of them leaks water 24 hours and they are too cheap to fix the flappers with a simple $5 new part. Thus, 1000s of gallons of water are wasted around the clock in Crestwood and owners seem to care less. They actually post a sign asking members to jiggle the handle, but that seldom works. This has been going on now for more than 3 years. I just wonder how much of my membership fee is going to pay for huge water bills. Plus the doors on the ladies toilet stalls are so close to the toilet bowl, you have to step behind the toilet to shut the door. I know this is not related to the workout equipment, which is usually maintained OK, but their bathroom quality is incredible annoying. I've heard the men complain about theirs too. So, if massive water waste does not bother you and you don't mind jumping over toilets or you seldom need to visit the water closet, then you'll be ok at this place. They do keep it clean however.

GREAT class selections and cardio equipment. I am a picky runner and I think the new treadmills are perfect. High energy club with nice staff. Never had a problem, but of course I don't look for problems. I get my workout and get out.
As for the patrons complaining about the contract, I personally read the fine print in ALL contracts I sign. This one is no different than some other health clubs I have joined. As, for the parking.....that is the CWE!
