Yes lines are long, plan accordingly, seating is limited, but I wouldn't describe it as shabby and the workers there are friendly and rock out as many hot salamis as come their way...just a fan sticking up for this GREAT deli. P.S. Tuna and lasagna are great. Try everything, nothing is disappointing.

This place is amazing!

Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

An Italian meat trio on GARLIC BREAD? Come on, what more could you ask for? So good, so fresh, and just a real deal deli.

Best in town. Great for a weekday lunch (get there early or just after the rush) or get dinner to go on Saturdays before 4pm.

Delicious soups and sandwiches, and you always get more than you pay for. A quick, easy stop during weekday lunch breaks and a great casual spot for Saturday errand days too. Love it!

I went here because my buddy Pat told me I had to try it. He worked here when he was kid. I love the sausage and pepper sandwich. It was to die for. I have to get one every time I'm in town. The service is fantastic and the prices are great too. You gotta try this place, and get the sausage and pepper sandwich,. It's the best I've ever had.

Husband introduced me to this place during a recent visit to his parents. He used to eat there practically every day when he worked in downtown StL. Ok, so the place is pretty shabby, there are ridiculously long waits at lunchtime, seating is woefully inadequate, and the service is neither the friendliest nor the quickest ever, but the subs are to die for. The salami is sooooo tasty, and their Italian dressing is really different and totally delicious. We always make a point of going to Gioia's when we're in the area.
