My father passed away recently and prior to his death had chosen this cemetery as the place he wanted to be buried. Like many veterans, he believed (based on the false advertising of this business) that this is a veterans cemetery. IT IS NOT. They have been sued in the past for this very thing.

My family met with Robert Boyles with Chapel of Memories/Swan Lake following my father's death but realized very quickly that Mr. Boyles was overcharging for their services. As an example, the casket that was chosen was one of the most economical, according to Mr. Boyles - for $2700.00. The following day, I found a comparable casket at the Direct Casket Company on the Independence Square for $785.00. We chose a much nicer casket for still much less than the $2700.00. Luckily, my family realized that this business was unethical and deceptive and chose to sever ties with this business and go elsewhere for my father's service. The "contract" that Mr. Boyles wrote for our family did not itemize the cost of anything. According to law, this has to be done. After my family clearly informed Mr. Boyles that we were no longer doing business with his company, Mr. Boyles had my father's body delivered to his funeral home and refused to release him to the funeral home we had chosen unless we paid him $1200.00, which of course we did. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!

Pros: None

Cons: Unethical, immoral, deceptive

poor grave maint./ record keeping. Sales force, and ownership has taken advantage of elderly veterans for years. Grave markers not ordered or placed in a timely manner. Ownership/ manager not to be trusted, has same problem with other similar property in KS. Not a veteran cemetery as purported in sales advertising. This cemetery has to rate in the bottom half of like operations across the country. Records of transactions are missing or nonexistant. The burden of proof is on the pirchaser.
No integrity exists. Would not recomend, there are too many other options available close to this facility.

I have contacted this business on several occasions, no luck getting anything FIXED, my dad's name was incorrect, his branch of the service was incorrect and where he served was incorrect. What else could be wrong, I will never recommend anyone for this service... I just lost my fiance, just two months ago, who was a vietnam vet and I did not use this service, I used the Cemetary at Higginsville, MO that is a recognized burial for veterans....they definitely made sure everything was correct, and it didn't take 6 months to get the marker in place and when is was placed, everything was correct!!!!! This is definitely a fly by nite and I would not recommend to anyone! I am very sorry that my dad has to be buried under the wrong name and branch and service....

Pros: my dad's marker was completely wrong, his name was Frank E Minard, he did not serve in Korea and they listed his branch of the service wrong!
