I have had my Hyla for over 13 yrs. now and it has been the best vacumn cleaner that I ever had!! You couldn't give me a Rainbow.
I replaced the power head 1 time and it cost around $60.00.
It has just finally quit on me this week, I am not getting anything when I turn it on? I was vacumning up little sliver's of glass when it happened and it was also storming (same time that Joplin got hit) about 45 minutes away from us. Not sure if it has anything to do with either one of those things though or if it just got wore out....

First of all, if you are trying to get a rainbow fixed, you should take it to a rainbow distributor. They will give you the parts at a steep discount compared to other stores, and should fix it for free. Hyla's are a known knock off of the Rainbow. Where they make bold claims to clean the air in your house, they dont succeed. I have the new Rainbow E2, and it does everything they claim. It is made to be run 24 hours a day, just like any air filtration system should, how can it work if its not running. I was leery of the steep price tag, but it was well worth it when my son stopped having trouble breathing within our home. I was also influenced by the fact that my grandparent still have the one that they had 30 years ago, and it runs like a top. Unlike Hyla's and Kirby's, Rainbow businesses dont come and go. The office I purchased mine from has been in business for 20+ years. I would recommend them to anyone. Nothing gets hot, there is absolutely no smell, minus that of what you sweep up, but you dont smell it until you dump it out. I have had several questions about the machine, and every time I call into the store, or go by, they are kind and courteous. I wish I could have posted on here before you made your regrettable purchase.

I purchased my HYLA in 2003 and still consider it my best purchase ever! We have just purchased a used model for my daughter and her husband as they like to use ours and and I have a hard time getting it back! LOL.... However, I am VERY disappointed that I cannot find a decent web-site with cobtact information. A couple of years ago I was trying to find the disinfectant that I received when I purchased my new HYLA. Never could get any results. Now, I need a new filter, the little "spongie" one that is approx. 2" x 5"... can't find one anywhere and cannot find contact infor for HYLA. Can anyone help???

Hello, I bought a hyla a few years ago and now the electric cord has a short in it causing the power head to shut on and off.

My brother is an electrician. He looked at it and found the plug-in part that plugs from the hose to the vacuum has a short. So he took my wet hose that don??t have the electric wire running on the inside of the hose and wired the ends to a new cord and have the electric cord running on the out side of the hose. My vacuum works so much better, with a lot more air flow because air is not restricted because of the electric wire running on the inside of the hose, like the power hose comes made.

My only problem now is I still need a new plug that plugs into the vac and a short bit of wire. There is still a small short because the wires are broke too close to the plug part. Running the electric wire through the inside of the hose was not a good design. It restricts the air flow and because it takes up room in the cord it causes the hose to plug up easy. I have two German shepherds, and the hair would get plugged in the hose every time I vacuum until my brother re-wired the wet hose with a wire on the out side.

I need a new plug-in part that plugs into the vac with a few inches of wire attached. Do you know where I can get that part?

Thank you, Deb

I bought a Hyla the end of Feb. 08 in Joplin MO. DON'T BUY IT!!! You can get the same results from other cheaper vacuums. It does not clean the air as claimed. My 15 month old son was just chasing the dust particles in the air last evening that were floating in the sunbeams. I was told today (4 months after buying the thing) that I am supposed to vacuum every day and then leave the hose unattached and leave it run for another 30 minutes in order to have the clean air. I have had problems with the power head not wanting to stay on, the brush on the bare floor head won't come down and the plug and cord are very hot when I unplug it after use.

It takes me almost 2 hours to vacuum my house by the time I put it all together, vacuum, and clean and dry the inside of the vacuum when done. My house is 2,500 sq ft but only three room have wall to wall carpet most of it has hardwood or ceramic floors which I use my Swiffer cloths on.

I have been trying to return the machine for several months now but have gotten no satisfaction from the local office or the national office in Deerfield, Fl. The salesman actually turned his back on me and hid out in the back of the store until I left the first time I took it in. After having to wait 18 minutes outside a store that was supposed to be open I spoke with the owner of the local company today. (Now that I have contacted the finance company they are willing to call and talk to me) He sat on his desk and twisted the cord around and around itself (the same cord that already gets hot when plugged in) swinging his feet trying to call me a liar and there was nothing he could do about returning the vacuum.

My opinion, If you hear or see the name Hyla turn around and walk away!! I wish I had.

Every time I've ever been to Hyla with my mother to try to get parts for her Rainbow, they are never open. It's quite a chore to get downtown to their location, because of all the narrow and one way streets, so when you get there and they are closed it is aggravating. They have hours posted on the door, but in several trips, I've yet to find them working the hours they claim to be open. I don't know anything else about this store because I've never gotten through the door.
