I've been shopping at this store for many years.
They have a good range of items & brands. They generally have a good Meat dept. & instore Bakery & Deli.
I DO think they are lax in many areas, possibly because they don't have competition in the central town area.
I agree, that expiration dates aren't monitored. On more than one occasion, I've had to return items....usually Produce that is spoiling {where it can't be seen before opening the package at home}, & also packaged items.
But, my biggest gripe is the "Customer Service" counter!
These women always look & act like they're having a bad day, & NOT AT ALL happy to serve you! They talk between themselves, but don't talk to the customer, except for what NEEDS to be said. They seldom ever make eye contact, & never smile! I once challenged Lois by saying "Do you ever smile? I've never seen you smile!" She never looked up at me & didn't respond. She just shrugged as she kept her gaze downward at the desk, then turned away.
I had hoped it would make her think about her "attitude", but instead, I think it just made her mad.
I always feel like I'm "bothering" them, to conduct my business there.
These people need some training on how to be decent Customer Service Representatives!

On numerous occasions (specifically with dairy products) I have bought food only to come home and discover that is had expired. I always check the dates on items I buy there!

Every time I shop at this store, I notice that food on the regular shelves is EXPIRED and I have mentioned it to store personnel who do nothing. Why shop there, well because it is the only place in town. But buyer BEWARE, if you don't pay close attention, you may be eating something that should have been taken off the shelf months ago. Example: I purchased a case of baby formula for my infant. Easier to purchase by the case, so it took me a week or so to open it, when I did, I discovered it had expired. Took it back to the store for a refund, they wouldn't refund it. Said I could have purchased the case anywhere! Are you kidding me. The formula was expired over 6 months even. I even had a receipt. Since then I have purchased fruit that has molded the next day, bread that has molded the next week & yogurt that expired over 2 months ago. Don't shop there if you want good food.

A hometown owned store that has a full line of grocerys, fresh fruits and veg's. meat, deli, fresh flowers you can even get your lottery tickets here and send a fax if you need to.
Also if you need a special cake made for a wedding, birthday or whatever you can order it from the deli.
A nice friendly store.
