Basic nail salon. Clean, but Mondays usually are. Mani, pedi, accrylics and some gels. Not complicated. Quick. A little pushy on the extras but totally worth the money! Very jazzy!!

Was at Cheesecake Factory this weekend and saw this nail shop here and HAD TO get my mani/pedi done. Of course, the usual Asian nail place (not that I am racist - BUT THAT'S USUAL?!) with Jazz music? HAHA, it felt like Jardine's or something. Then there was this guy who kept cleaning the place that was being SO funny! It was like a weird dream. Anyway, great atmosphere, very clean (I was early), prices are moderate but worth the great masages (the gal took time to massage my back). I splurged and got the $55 upgraded package that was totally worth it! Will be back soon.

I never do manicures b/c of my job, but I always go here for pedicures. Prices are reasonable, friendly staff, clean, and good ambience too! I've never seen any salon play so much jazz!! Really reccommend this salon.

Pros: on the Plaza, friendly staff, great pedicures
Cons: Busy weekends, sometimes can't get it

This place is expensive and not worth it at all. Limited brands and colors of nail polish. I could paint my nails better than they do. They get you in and out as quickly as possible and don't even massage your hands/feet.

As an avid pedicure goer I know my ins/outs of a good/bad pedicure. From the super-splurge to the basic quick ones, I've seen/had them all at the tune of at least one a month for the past 5 years...so I come with some experience on this issue.

Bottom line--worst I've ever had--and I've seen some pretty bad places while living in New York City. The breakdown:

Cost: $25 for a basic/$30 for a "upgrade" The upgrade was to include an extra massage and heal care. Can't say I got either. Overpriced for a basic pedi.

Tech: Eh. Not so great. The guy was polite, but was in a rush to push me out the door when I was done--pre-drying. There wasn't a line, not near closing either. Kind of rude and he certainly killed any calm-bliss I was trying to maintain.

Service itself: terrible. terrrible. terrible. Water was burning hot at first, then when I said something (because I couldn't keep my tootsies in it) he grumbled, then made it scary-cold. Can't a girl get a warm water soak? Chairs were all broken, no bubbles and no massage. Asked for short nails, he just filed, and I had to ask him to cut down. The massage was poor. Usually the tech will set a timer and do both legs--but this guy didn't. He sort of massaged one leg and neglected the other. The heal care was a joke--and in fact painful as he cut the bottom of one foot with the stone. Paint job, was ok--but took forever and no top coat. Hmm.

Cleanliness: This is the kicker for me--the place is horrible. The floors were dirty, the chairs broken, repair parts all over, the files/etc. were out when I got there, and I can't be sure they were cleaned/steralized before he used them on me. I didn't see a sanitizer nor did I see disinfectant. Scary.

Summary: not at all worth the $30 and questionable sanitizing practicies. wouldn't trust my well-cared for feet to them again, ever.

After I signed my credit card receipt, the owner changed it to include a 35% tip. I went to give my nail tech a cash tip and she felt guilty so she showed me what they did. I would never go back.

The scent of mint in the disinfectant used initially to clean my hands is the only scent I remember in this sanitation-conscious manicure, where even my rings were polished. plaza nails does a good manicure for a moderate price.

moderately priced
Friendly manicurist
Polish dried perfectly
No sales push

Cons Hand massage almost nonexistent
Buffing marks show through polish
No gelato given to customers!
Not open during non-business hours
