This brunch was an insult to the Mothers who were invited guests. While the price point for the buffet spoke of a well managed, more fine dining buffet experience, the opposite was true and included-- A 45 minute wait for a half cooked omelet (the cook was 30 omelets behind), a 30 minute wait for coffee(drinks were provided by servers only; bacon served half burned and half almost raw, (yes, the same piece of bacon), melon served sliced with the rind still in place, cold scrambled eggs, half cooked sausage, burned french toast, burned waffles, etc.

Upon arrival at 11 a.m. with reservations for a buffet listed as beginning at 11 a.m., most chafing dishes were empty of food or with only a small residue of food and were unheated; the seving table was devoid of plates (upon questioning we were told plates were still in the dishwasher); a staff of two servers were to provide coffee, beverages, omelet ordering, drink service and plate clearing for reservations of 140 individuals. (Upon questioning, we were told that management had overbooked by 50 reservations. All reservations made required a credit card number ).

With the exception of the service staff who were worked well past exhaustion, all in all, this was a totally mismanaged poor quality disastrous dining experience with a high end dining price point.

When requested, the manager did come to discuss the situation. Initially he became very arrogant and condescending about our "unreasonable" expectations for a Mother's Day Brunch. He was then informed that one of our guests had worked in management at several upscale dining establishments with the same price point for a Mother's Day Brunch. After much discussion, he finally apologized for "ruining Mother's Day". Perhaps Montelle Winery should stay with overcharging for their bottles of Missouri wine and providing burgers, pizza and sandwiches although after this experience I doubt any of our group would return even for their "fast food".

We have been going to Montelle Winery for over 12 years. My wife and I consider Montelle Winery our favorite along MO Highway 94 in the Augusta area. They have a great selection of reasonably-priced wines for most palates. They no longer allow outside food; however, they have a delicious menu selection of about a dozen sandwiches and about six pizzas available in their Klondike Cafe. They also have a well stocked store where you may purchase snack food that includes fresh bread, cheeses, meats, crackers, chips, fruit, etc. We have never had any problems with their staff even during busy Octobers. They have small group band entertainment on the weekends with no cover charges. The view of the river valley and west towards Augusta is beautiful and unequaled along MO 94. Our only disappointment with Montelle is that they stopped allowing pet dogs in two years ago due to insurance reasons. It is unfortunate that some people over-indulge when having a good time; however, you will find this at all the wineries on MO 94 particularly on mild weekend days and anytime around October. We tend to avoid the wineries in October. That way, we aren't tempted to write unfair comments about businesses or their patrons.

Montelle Winery is the best! It has the best view of any winery that I've been to in Missouri, and I've been to quite a few. The selection is great, and might I add that they won the Governor's Cup in 2008 (best wine in Missouri) for their Dry Vignoles.

Another fun winery in the area. We enjoy tasting the different wines. Some years we feel are better than other and will buy some wine, some years we don't. The trip is worth going to taste the different wines even if you don't buy. It is beautiful scenery.

Blackberry wine and a bunch of Hoosiers ruined a beautiful afternoon. Never again. Mean staff. Caters to cheap people who want to get drunk. View was okay, but other wineries in the area were far superior and worth paying extra to get away from the white trash.

I stop by here once in awhile to try their samplers and to buy some of their season selections. I like the taste of the wine here and the prices are okay. There are many wineries in this area but somehow I find myself returning here if I just want o buy wine.
