Killian Kent L Md - West County Pediatric Assoc

My three children see Dr. Killian. He is an exceptional doctor who puts the kids' needs first at all times. The office staff is kind and friendly and always there for me when I have a problem. I can always get a same day sick visit. On Saturday we have come in when Dr. Killian is not available and my kids have seen other doctors in the practice and they have all been exceptional. I would not take my kids anywhere else. I am very confident in the care I receive at West County Pediatrics from Dr. Killian, his associates and his wonderful and helpful and compassionate staff. Yes, I do have to wait on the phone sometimes (Monday mornings are especially bad), but I am confident that the reason is that everyone loves this practice and that is why they are so popular and busy.

it never fails, after every well visit my girls get sick. there should definitely be a well area.The dr. after hours hotlines is not very responsive. at least not with my first child, the 2nd child the response time seemed to be quicker. Every time i call to make an appt or talk to the nurse its a good minm 20min wait time. then when you do talk to someone they are not very compassionate at all. the office staff there could really benefit from some customer service training. I've also heard some horror stories about Dr. Carney so i refuse for him to treat my girls. Dr. Killian is good but i think he could be better. With my first i felt very welcomed and he was very caring but with my 2nd now, i feel almost like he has lost interest somewhat. There is one nurse there that my girls love and if she ever left, we would leave. My girls have never cried when she was the one to give the shots. However, the other nurses have left bruises on my daughter and the other nurse was too consumed with smacking her gum and chatting with the office to even notice my girls. I have had to see Dr. Bayer a few times and she is actually my preferred dr. Maybe because she's a woman and mother i feel she can relate better to me????? Plus, she seem to be much quicker to treat than Dr. Killian who prefers to let a virus "run its course" before giving a rx. for which you have to come right back in 7days to get. Personally, i think this is just a ploy for money from insurance for more visits. i.e. my girls were sick and my youngest had a well visit 2 days later. he wouldn't just preform the her check-up while we were there. i asked why and he said "b/c i spend more time with you and take measurements," I responded with "well, I've already spoken with you for 15min and i have no more questions and the nurse takes the measurements..." he still said, its just not the same. So i cancelled the appt., and waited another month b/c it was down-right uncalled for, for me to return 2days later and take more time off work.

I take all 3 of my children to this office. I love Dr. Killian-he seems to listen to my concerns. I hate the office-long wait whenever you call!! I usually have to wait about 15-30 minutes on the phone, then the nurses are never very polite or helpful. Plus, the office is definately not kid-friendly...only adult-sized chairs and no toys for the kids. Plus, there's no well-child area. We always get sick after our well-child visits. If I didn't love Dr. Killian, I would definately be changing pediatricians, because of the rest of the office.

West County pediatrics is a great doctor's offfice. If I have questions about my daughter, the nurses are always helpful. I never have to wait long past my appointment time, which with a sick child is great. The doctors are the best in town. They take wonderful care of my daughter, I never feel rushed or that I can't ask any question. I highly recommend Dr. Lowther. My daughter loves him.
