I think the food and service at Paul Mineos is far superior to Marciano's. Every bit as good as John Mineos in West County. The appetizers are great, especially the calamari. The Sicilian Strip steak melts in your mouth. I think some dishes are a little light on the salt, but salt is on the table. The singing for a birthday is done in Italian. It's always a great evening.

We were surprised and disappointed to find that Marciano's is no longer at Westport Plaza but we decided to try what took it's place, Paul Mineo's. Needless to say, we will never go back again. I ordered a pasta dish that was supposed to be like a pasta primavera according to the description. What I got was noodles with what appeared to be canned vegetable soup dumped over them. I sent it back; it looked horrible. I ordered (what I figured was "safe") toasted ravioli in its place. They were "ok" at best. Our bill was over $80 (everything is ala carte) and wasn't worth $20. Oh, and the service was bad too. So it was a disappointment all the way around.

We love the overall 'scene' at Westport Plaza, and Marcianos is a nice introduction to an evening at Westport. The restaurant itself is casual, but not a place I would necessarily describe as 'family friendly'....this entire area is just very adult driven, not kid. The Italian here is very good, though not the quality you will find on the Hill in St. Louis. However, if you are visiting Westport, I would highly recommend Marcianos....it is always our first choice!

The service was subpar. Even though the place was nearly empty, as we were the first to show up for lunch, and we were the only customers our waitress had, we rarely saw her. She spent most of her time behind the bar chattering away. We were also disappointed in the food. The alfredo sauce was grainy and tasted like they used Kraft Parmesan right out of the green, plastic container. Ick. My fiance' had the linguini in clam sauce and did seem to enjoy his better than I did mine, he said that he would have liked it better if they had rinsed the clams more as they were gritty. The lunch menu is basically reasonably priced but I doubt we return. And I wouldn't take the chance of going for dinner when it would cost even more for basic, just okay, Italian with barely adequate service.

Marciano's is Italian food in a great place, located in West Port Plaza. Marciano's has wonderful service a great menu of Pasta and other entres, there is something to Please everyone. This restaurant is casual yet can be very dressy on weekends!! The staff is always available to assist in a selection of entre or wine! The desserts alone will bring you back time and time again. A perfect place for a date, then on to enjoy the nightlife of west port plaza and surrounding area.

PROS: Location
CONS: None
