Very nice until you sign the contract. Then - horrible. Rude - condescending - self centered - unhelpful. He and his staff make you fell like you are bothering them.

Horrible. Don't go there. He is rude impatient and arrogant. His practice is like a cattle call without any privacy and the assistants do everything. My sons teeth are damaged and they didn't care. Its been 5 years since we were there

I still have my braces on. I have had them on since july of 2007. I don't feel like he does things to have my teeth straight. Pretty much he just replaces colors.I feel like my teeth are straight enough and that my braces could come off

When I went in to Dr. Crist??s office for a free consultation, he appeared an orthodontist who cares about his patients. It is unfortunate that I did not do any research on him before I made the decision because I just recently found out that many others have had a bad experience with him also. I was definitely deceived by what he told me he could do, and that it would take a shorter time to achieve the results since my teeth were not that bad. After almost 8 months, I asked to see if we are still on track as far as the treatment term, and one of his assistants replied that it was just an estimated timeframe given by Dr. Crist, and that it is not uncommon for a treatment to take 24 months or longer. Yet, Dr. Crist assured me that as long as I follow all their instructions and keep all my scheduled appts., which I did, it would only be 18 months. Misleading? Yes, just so that I would choose him. The consultation is a mere ??sales? tactic for their office because once the braces are on, be prepared for a whole different experience. The staff was rough in my mouth and Dr. Crist did not allow a few minutes to answer questions and address concerns. I could not ask him any questions because he was already on to another patient. When I snuck in a question, his responses were very short (a single line statement-type response). I always left the office with the feeling of ??I wonder if?. His assistants were no better. Though there was the one who took the time to explain and made me feel good about the decision about getting braces. I only saw her once or twice so I do not remember her name (Jen, I think). She had brown hair. I even asked the receptionist to schedule me for ??Jen? to do my adjustments on future visits but that never happened. I never saw her again. I wonder if she is even there anymore.

Every time I called, the receptionist would try to answer my question just so she would not have to take a message for one of Dr. Crist??s assistants to call me back; yet she was not qualified to answer the ??technical? questions but she felt she was simply because she had braces before. She told me that Dr. Crist and his assistants were too busy to return calls. They were always too busy for patient questions and concerns, but not too busy to deceive new patients at the consultations. She was rude and short with me. They will not make an appointment unless it is an absolute must just so they do not have to spend a few extra minutes on a patient.

So besides the unfriendly atmosphere, lack of care and concern for patients, and no time to address issues raised, Dr. Crist??s poor experience shows in his work. I was treated by Dr. Crist for 9 months and it was very discouraging. I told myself ??enough is enough? and no longer wanted to subject myself to the uncomfortable experience. I just cannot believe that I did not think of discontinuing services with him sooner. There are many good orthodontists out there in the KC metro area who are more experienced and caring. I felt like a product in a factory being moved in and out, of his office. So just be careful, he may just be telling you what you want to hear. You may be wearing your braces much longer than what he tells you; furthermore, his experience in orthodontics may prolong your treatment. A friend told me her neighbor??s daughter was in braces for 6 years. Yes, Dr. Crist was her orthodontist! I would not recommend Dr. Crist to anyone!

Hated my experience there. Got my braces when I was an early teen. Got receded gums because of it. Wish I was told the proper way to care for my teeth with the braces on. Also remember the staff wasn't to friendly. They were usually rough with clipping and putting new wires on.

I was treated by Dr. Crist in the early 1990s and, to this day, have regretted my experience. I was treated for an overbite which involved the extraction of two pre-molars on the right side of my mouth, one on top, and one on bottom. A substantial portion of the treatment involved moving all of the teeth to the LEFT of the extractions towards the right to fill the gaps left by the extractions. As a result, the centers of my teeth were no longer aligned with the middle of my face and were, in fact, a half-tooth-width off from the middle of my face. After a couple of years, I saw no improvement in his efforts to realign my teeth to their appropriate position. Deeply discouraged by the appearance of my teeth and the seemingly long length of treatment (about 4 years total), I requested that he remove my braces prematurely so that I could resume treatment elsewhere. He obliged after giving me and my mother quite a bit of attitude, however, unbeknownst to me at that time, I believe he retaliated by sloppily removing the glue (which binds the braces to the teeth) and drilling deep into the enamel of my teeth in several spots. I have since had additional orthodontic treatment to correct the damage caused by Dr. Crist (misalignment and uneven wearing of my teeth as a result of that misalignment) and had bonding applied to the indentations in my enamel. My teeth are still not and will never be centered with my face, however, they are much better than they were. Had I been older and wiser at the time of my treatment with Dr. Crist, I might have taken legal action.

Please do your homework when selecting an orthodontist, just as you would in selecting a medical doctor. Consider my experience and the experiences of others who have posted negative reviews of Dr. Crist on the Internet. There are many competent orthodontists in the Kansas City area, you just have to do some work to find them. I highly recommend Dr. Fry in Overland Park.
