I absolutely love this vet office! Dr. Hertzog has been our vet with both our horses and our dogs and cats for almost 30 years. He's an excellent vet. He also sees exotics - we saw a monkey in the office one time! :) Since Doc Hertzog is

I wish I could give this practice 2 1/2 stars. They have plenty of knowledge behind them but it is old-school. Bottom line, if you have a fairly normal dog with fairly normal problems (read: annual exam) these vets would be great for you. They're prompt, priced reasonably and are usually able to get an appointment, very kind to work with and they do care about pets.
If, however, your pet has issues, you've tried every pill on the market and you're looking for a holistic approach, this isn't your vet. Their idea of good food is science diet and they look at you a little crazy when you suggest titer testing instead of blindly vaccinating.
In short, they're not bad vets but don't expect a lot of creative or holistic thinking if you have an issue. They fix the symptom/issue, not always thinking about the cause.

I recently rescued a dog and have been taking him to LSAH to get his shots. They have been incredibly affordable, which is important to me because i have two dogs and I don't want to pay a fortune in office fees every time one of them has

I called them in the middle of a Monday. I got a busy signal. I waited a while and then called again. This time I got the answering machine saying they were not open. I could barely understand what the woman was saying. Why are they closed at noon on Monday? They need to update their phone system.

After I got off work and called to make an appointment, they told me to come in and I could wait. When I got there, everyone was leaving. An emergency number was on the door. I called but couldn't get through. I just went to another vet. I tried again about a week later and and got a frosty receptionist who said they couldn't see my dog again. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the doctors because I never saw them.

Because of the lackluster attitude of the doctors at LSAH I have lost the second to last most precious thing in my life. Everything else that mattered has gone with old age and this economy, but I wanted to hold on to my baby. May God repay you for your indifference.

Austin is okay. He was on call one weekend when we needed him and he was there. However, they don't have diagnostics on weekends. Another one of our babies died today. I can't say that they (Hertzogs, Weil, Patterson, Austin) helped this time. In fact, I would say that they are too busy seeing walk ins for dogs getting their shots to spend time actually thinking about evaluating a cats health. Now I am heart broken because my beautiful 11 year old is dead, and it was not necessary. All they had to do was refer us to an emergency vet. I recommend VSEC in OP KS if you need someone specialized and willing to spend time thinking about your pet. Message to them: When it's time to retire, it's time to retire. Think about allowing people to set appointments. Spend time. Do the tests that are needed to make sure that nothing is wrong. NEVER, NEVER THINK THAT AN ENEMA IS A MINOR PROCEDURE.

My dog always feels better after a visit to these wonderful doctors. Staff is very friendly. Checkouts couldn't be quicker. I have had great success calling ahead without an appointment and getting in the same day.

We've taken our dog, Bo, to this location since 1995. The staff is friendly and helps my nervous dog feel at ease. The doctor is obviously concerned with the health of my aging dog, but does not push for unnecessary procedures. The doctor does a good job of explaining our pet's conditions, what the possible solutions are, and gives us the pros and cons. Future and emergency appointments are easy to get.
