Great food! Homey feel. The menu has plenty for the traditional, but also plenty for the adventurous. Order two tapas for dinner....and the sangria! The place works as a family place, for a special date night, or for a special

On our first trip to the STL when we were house hunting in O Fallon we stumbled into this gem on our way back through town. Going to the Hill to eat is always a treat and an experience onto itself, but this is by far our fav destination.

The pizza is the best St. Louis Style I have ever had, and I have eaten everywhere. It beats out Imo's by a long shot.

We've been coming here since it was a somewhat dark mom and pop place. Now it's been renovated, has tables outside, a much nicer interior, and lots of young wait staff, very nice and eager to please. So it's even better. But it was always the tapas that brought us in, with the whole family - it's a family friendly place when the children are old enough to like real, tasty food - though, of course, they have very good pizza as well. The wines are always nice and not too expensive, so you can have a real tapas evening. If you order two or three tapas per person, all different, you will have a huge feast hovering between gourmand and gourmet! There are NO duds on the tapas menu, but maybe our favorite is stuffed calamari. If you want their wonderful paella, call ahead, because it takes a while to cook. It's very good, but it won't leave any room for tapas that night. We also recommend the gazpacho, especially in the summer time. If you like Spanish food, this is THE place to have a wonderful time without breaking the bank.

Pros: Lovely, wonderful tapas, reasonably priced!

Cons: None, really, unless you want to go really formal.

This is my favorite restaurant on the hill! If i cant make it there they deliver to me! Their tapas are excellent and their pastas are great. For appetizer id suggest their cheese platter par excellente! For a entree i always get the pasta con broccoli though ive tried other things i find i like this the best its always served with fresh hot bread. And if your a drinker youve got to try their home made sangria best ive ever had! Ive never had to wait long for a table and always have great service! And the owners are just wonerful people they treat everyone like family and are always very helpful and friendly! And finding parking is not problem since they sit on a corner there is always somewhere to park. Ive brought many people to this restaurant to eat with me and have never heard a bad thing from any of them in fact most say they will come back again i always say dont forget to call and ill come along!

WE GOT THERE AT 530PM, AND GOT SEATED RIGHT AWAY, BUT IT FILLED UP QUICKLY. MARCO--OUR HEAD WAITER<>GREAT NAME AND GREAT SERVICE. PARKING IS HARD TO GET THOUGH.

Went there yesterday at 1:00PM, 7/5/2008. 20 people were waiting near or at the bar for tables. The stressed out hostess/bartender/waiter said it would be 15 minute wait. 30 minutes went by and they only seated 4 of the origninal 20 that were there before us. Yet, I could visibly see tables that were ready for patrons (some with 8 seats, cleaned with place settings, etc.), but nobody was being seated. Meanwhile, no less than 15 other people came in to eat and left promptly when they realized nobody was even greeting them at the door.

My 2 kids were starving and my wife said she heard a couple of the employees saying they were way under-staffed and sick of it. After 30 minutes, we gave up and left and went to some traditional fare and ate at the PASTA HOUSE!!! Whatever, this place is a joke and dosen't deserve to have customers because they certainly can't serve them!

Cons: No service, poor excuse for a restaurant

I've been there several times with no problems and was even planning to have them cater a big event for me, but I came with a group this time and it was awful from the beginning. The older couple (I think the owners) treated us horribly from the moment we walked in the door, with NO explanation why. They were unbelievably rude. Remember the scene from Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts went to the first store? Yeah, like that but for no reason. I was so embarrassed since I had suggested the place. I will not recommend this restaurant ever again, nor will they be the caterers for my event!

We stopped at Guido's on Shaw Avenue before taking our children to the St. Louis Zoo. We arrived about 12:00 noon on a Friday in mid-July and the place was quiet but not empty. Parking was no problem at this particular time on this particular day. The atmosphere was above average inside, but we chose to sit outside.

We were seated promptly but it was about 5 minutes before our waitress arrived. We ordered drinks, tea and lemonade, immediately but it was another 10 minutes before our waitress was able to deliver them. She was in and out of the restaurant, however, all the time. She messed it up though, because we had ordered one lemonade and one iced tea and she brought two lemonades and one tea. The tea was average but the lemonade was overly sweet and had a taste of too much chlorine in the tap water.

It was another 15 minutes before she took our order, though, again, she stopped by the table several times to say that she would be "right back". Finally, she did deign to take our order. We had the Guido's Deluxe Pizza, or something to that effect. It was a large with pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, red onion, and mushrooms.

Another 25 minutes passed, and finally our waitress let me know that our pizza was in the oven, after we asked where our food was. Another 10 minutes passed and FINALLY our pizza arrived. It was EXCELLENT. However, our children, both under 3 years old, were going completely insane by this time. We herded them to the table and shoveled in the pizza as fast as we could.

As I said, the pizza was one of the best I have ever had. The sauce had a bit of spicyness, and the toppings were quite generous. The crust was, as is typical of a St. Louis-style pizza, thin and cracker-like, very crispy. The pizza was apparently baked in a brick oven and had a bit of char on the bottom. We had leftovers, which we took along with us. On the way home from the zoo, we snacked on the leavings. Nothing was wasted.

All in all, I would recommend this place but only if you're not in a hurry. I don't know if it was the waitress or the procedures of the restaurant owners, but the service was INCREDIBLY slow. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants, but this was the slowest I've ever seen, especially considering it was lunch time and the place was definitely not packed. How long does it take to make a pizza?!

If the service was better and quicker this restaurant would have received 5 stars. The food we had was excellent.

I ordered a Medium pizza towards the end of the night. The pie was ready in about 30 minutes, even though when I arrived there was only two people inside already dining. THe pizza was very thick. It was very difficult to eat thin crust when it cannot support the wieght of the toppings. It was a mess,, but tasty!

Fantastic! According to my aunt who lived in Spain, they have the best sangria this side of Barcelona! We love the tapas especially the patatas alioli and gambas. It is the perfect place to take adventurous eaters as well as finicky adults and kids.

This is a great restaruant with outstanding service. The pasta con broccoli is the best on the hill. Its a little pricey for pasta but whatever they do to make it taste so good makes it worth it.

This is what st. louis style pizza is all about. A good pie is hard to beat and that is exactly what they are serving up at guido's. The pasta and tapas are great too. I recommend the tortolini, it's simple and delicious. This is a must have for pizza lovers.

I love it more for the randomness than anything; sometimes you'll go and be one of only 5 parties and have a 2 hour wait, other times, the place will be packed and you'll get seated immediately. The food is served in no particular order; desserts, appetizers, main course. It's just a good place to relax because really, what can you do, sometimes you just have to laugh at life and Guido's is the perfect place.

PROS: Unintended Comedy, Cheesecake

We told the waitress this was our first visit to a tapas restaurant. She was great in explaining the menu and made recommendations based on the foods we told her we enjoy. She was wonderful with our two sons who are 9 & 10. We had three rounds of tapas, and each round came quickly. To top off the food, the sangria was excellent. Great family restaurant, even better service.

The sangria is amazing, and the Spanish food is truly authentic. The calamari, bacalao, and pan tumaca are a must-try. On the Italian half of the menu, the tortellini is great, and the portion is big enough that I always have left-overs for lunch the next day. There are a couple tapas that are kind of over-priced, though. I've occassionally had problems with service, but it was usually when there was a big group in the back (they came out before we left).

The food at Guido's is great. But the service this time was so bad. We had a party of 6 on a Tuesday evening. The resturant was kind of busy but not that bad. We waited close to 10 minutes for our server to arrive at our table. When he did arrive he was in a hurry. Not very helpul with the menu. We orderd a bottle of wine which they were out of. We tryed the Sangria which was great.
When our food did come it was EXCELLENT. We orderd 6 cold tapas and 6 hot tapas and all were great. We give the food a 10 but the service a 2.
Will go back. Hopefully we will not have the same server.

While the food was good, the service was pitiful. Our food took half an hour (when we arrived and no one else was there) to an hour each time we ordered, and once was brought to the wrong table. Then our waiter went AWOL leaving the poor busser to take care of his tables and us begging for our check which had a 17% gratuity automatically added to it! To be fair, we went in a group of six on a Saturday evening for tapas, but Guido's did not seem prepared. I wouldn't recommend going on a busy night.

Guido's has the best, authentic tapas in STL! Try the patatas a la alioli, the cold tortilla, the gumbas, the calamari, and don't forget the sangria!!! I am making myself hungry.
