A single retail outlet can only offer a certain amount and variety of materiel. Space limitations is one constraint along with the need to avoid stocking goods that do not "pay their way" by taking up shelf or floor space.

Lowe's has much of what I need to perform house repairs but, at times, I need to venture forth to competing firms in my metropolitan area to acquire a specific, particular whatever.

Interestingly, despite wandering this cultural backwater smaller-sized city atop the cultural backwater atop the Ozark Plateau, I have been unable to acquire a simple, basic, bamboo pole to use as a flag staff for my "POW/MIA" flag.

That flag-toting item was readily acquired in the cultural backwater of Omaha, Nebraska but despite numerous ventures out and about Springfield to a multitude of retail outlets where one could even partially expect to acquire a bamboo pole anywhere near the desired length and girth I dejectedly wandered off, unable to find said pole of ANY style.

Sniff.

I was forced to use a pine pole, round and of adequate length but lacking the ambiance, the aura provided/conveyed by a bamboo flag pole.

But that lack at Lowe's does not negatively affect my kudos towards the firm.

NAY!!!!!!!!!!

I am merely mentioning how a single firm can not offer everything to all people....

Peering at the Lowe's Web site I am unable to find an ordering service/system that allows a central or several central warehouses to store then deliver to a requested retail outlet specific items not amenable to in-store availability.

Wal-Mart does it on-line with some goods unavailable inside a store but if ordered will be delivered to a specific store for later pick-up at no extra fee that I am aware of (other than that built into the product's price).

Perhaps Lowe's determined that system was unprofitable or unacceptable for whatever reason; I do not know.

What I did appreciate about Lowe's was the helpfulness of their in-store employees who often possess much more knowledge about the products in their section of the store than I possess.

In-firm training or expertise acquired elsewhere, many employees at Lowe's provided buying AND hands-on advice to use when I arrived home with my acquisition(s) clenched within my grubby paw(s).

Especially helpful in my case, repeatedly helpful, was various chaps and chapettes in the plumbing section.

Other areas of the store had employees able to offer tips, tricks, advice and other assistance.

Even when I thought I had all the needed materiel (not 'materiel' vice 'material,' the difference is subtle but present) employees regularly prevented my having to return to acquire an item or tool or whatever I would need to complete the task at hand.

I rated the firm a 4-star vice a 5-star since to achieve the coveted 5-star rating from me would require an outlet with many thousands more of square-feet to hold the number/types of home improvement/repair goods that would create a home supply Nirvana.

Go to Lowe's all the time. They've got everything I need to keep my house looking good. There are always people around to help when I have a question or need assistance. I recommend Lowe's.

Lowe's is a home improvement store with everything you need to do anything to your home. We recently purchased some flowers and garden accessories from Lowe's and have been so happy with the quality! The employees will take the time to help you and make sure you understand what you are doing, too. We love it there!
