Unforunately they don't have a review section for the fridley, mn store. I love the people there but the repair department, however, is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. the main girl answering the phones transferred me four times and each time it goes to voicemail. when i did get a call back the woman, jennafer, was one of the most callous people I have ever spoken with. my son's chair is completely down. but she's not going to be in this area until next week. which i could understand if we were far north or south-we are 20 minutes away! it is so frustrating constantly getting voicemail for serious repair calls and then have someone so rude call back. she didn't care. she absolutely didnt care about my son or our situation. I called back twice this morning to see if anything had possibly opened up but got voicemail both times. i"ve been with this company since Apria-no longer. if she is running repair it is time to move on and wait for these guys to close their doors.

United Seating and Mobility has always been kind and compassionate to our family. They have provided loaners while our materials are on order, and they have taken care of all repairs very well. They have created and rigged chairs to meet a variety of mobility needs for our daughter throughout the last five years. The staff has been kind to her and she loves them! Hopefully, readers can see that if the company has to deal with a stuck chair, they might have to cancel on another person. Hopefully, readers can see that insurance companies can be difficult to deal with and might take some time. The company is NOT terrible to deal with. We are getting our fourth piece of LARGE equipment through them, and continue to be satisfied.

we deal with many providers in caring for our son, united seating and mobility in st. louis is the worst.. not once, that we can remember, have they fixed a problem with a wheelchair on the first visit and most times cancel the visit and reschedule. from ordering the wrong parts to the attitude of the employees, i could write an article. i am a union carpenter and they are the only vendor they offer us

We obtained power wheelchair Nov 18. Have had nothing but problems with the chair and USM ever since. Man damaged storm door at delivery, forgot to bring charger. When chair stranded rider I left vm for USM -never heard back from USM, I called again, after 5 weeks a service man came, determined chair needed new batteries- after that we had 4 weeks of usefullness. Today chair stranded rider in the walkway of a local business. I have called USM 2x- spoke to Denise in service who gave a promise to call me back-it's been hours-still no response. I have called USM and left vm again. The business closes in a few hours, so at this rate we will need to aband the chair- thankfully a friend was able to loan us a manual chair so chair user has a way to get home. I'm not very satisfied with United Seating and Mobility.

Update- I have managed to get a hold of Denise at USM- she asked me to power chair down and restart it- I reminded her I tried that 4 times when we first talked. USM can schedule a repair Wednesday (today is Friday) but I will need to hire someone to move the chair out of the local business-it can't stay there 5 days. Company is all helpfull on the sales side- severly lacking on the service side. So if all you want is to buy you're OK - need service- forget it.

I've established a good rapport with Gary though the years of dependable service. Gary gives me advice on what I can do to keep my wheelchair working and looking good. I appreciate his honesty and help

United Seating was very helpful with repairing my scooter. They even provided a rental chair for me to use while mine was getting repaired. The repair was done in a timely manner and the customer service was great.

I??ve been using United Seating and Mobility for almost 22 years. I am a Quad and have used US&M for most everything. Mostly,, I have had a good relationship. You think a loyal customer would get some benefit. Nope, today it??s all about the money.

After my batteries seemed to be draining quickly on my e-WC, I was told that my joy-stick controller was bad. I paid my $500 co-pay and received my new controller. Exactly on the last day of my warranty, my new controller died (supposedly). I called the next day (Monday) as US&M was not open Sunday. Luckily I still had my ??bad? controller as I needed to re-use this bad controller. It took 3-4 months to get a new controller to be replaced under warranty. US&M (supposedly) had to beg on my behalf to the manufacturer to get them to replace my controller. Thx! The new-new controller went bad after 4 months and the manufacturer would not replace their bad replacement this time because they were so kind the last time with my warranty replacement. I could pay another $250 for another controller.

So, I am back using the original bad joy-stick controller and out $500. And US&M does not find anything wrong with that.

I had dealt with US&M several years prior and they always had horrible service, delays, lies and billing issues. My insurance changed and I was then switched to Apria. LOVED Apria, but United Seating bought them out. Now I am experiencing United Seating service issues all over again. I ordered a new wheelchair cushion in October, got it in March only after I called and called. I developed a bedsore during my waiting which I totally blame on them I ordered a new shower bench at the same time in October which I have still not received (as of 4/16/09)...back-ordered I was told. I don't think so when I can get on-line and have it in two days. Lies, no return phone calls from Kerrie and still waiting. NOW, the main support brace on my wheelchair is broken. I have waited 4 days on a stock part. Invacare tells me that it shipped same day. Where is my part? I am stranded at home, can't work, until I get the replacement part for my custom chair. If you can avoid this company...DO! I won't even go into the issues with them "billing" my 2 insurance companies. More lies. I don't know how they stay in business.

I wrote this to the president of United Seating & Mobility and have heard nothing, beware before dealing with this company!

Dear Mr Gouy,
Back in December 12 2008, I took my Permobil C300 into your facility in St Louis because the elevation feature went out on it. The problem was diagnosed and I was told that a rush would be put on the order as I require that feature of my chair in order to perform some of the duties where I am employed. At this time I let the employees know that I had both private insurance as well as Medicare coverage. I was told at that point that it was also possible that my state vocational-rehab division might pick up some of the required cost. The man who worked on the chair at that time said that he thought that I also needed new batteries, new tires, new wheels, and another part to fix the right armrest.
While I heard nothing regarding the ??rushed? order, on 1/16/09 it was again necessary to bring my chair in for repairs for speed issues. I had been told that the elevation parts were still not in and now it became necessary to order additional parts for the speed situation. I told the service man at that time that I did not want new batteries. I knew that if and when batteries were to be replaced that we could get the same batteries for $320.00 not the outrageous amount of $730 that was charged by USM.
On 2/1/09 I had still not heard from your company about the parts that had been ordered for either of the problems. At this time I checked with my Permobil sales rep about an alternative service facility. He checked with USM to ascertain the cause for the delay and was told that the order from December had not event been released due to waiting for funding confirmation by my insurance company. I was told there would be a RUSH on the order! I was furious about this as it should have been clear that with double insurance, plus possible funding from voc/rehab, USM was going to get their money.Plus on 1/16, I told them that if insurance didn??t come through I would pay for the parts and repairs. Mr Campenella told me that the parts were going to be shipped overnight express, and should have arrived by 2/6/09. On 2/12/09 I still had not gotten a call from USM to set up an appointment. Finally, after another contact by the rep, USM called on 2/13 to set up the appointment. But we were told that the parts ordered for the elevation were now on ??back order?. When we made the appointment on that day, we made it clear that all we wanted done was the speed repairs and the elevation repairs; we did NOT want the batteries or the wheels, or the tires.
On 2/19, when my chair went in for the repairs,my husband was told that all that going to be fixed was the speed limiter. Two hours later, the man returned with my chair;all repairs from December and January were done, plus the 2 new batteries, 6 new tires, 6 new wheels. The invoice also indicated that a hinge for the right arm rest had been replaced, although is still not working which is a safety concern as I am unable to fasten my seatbelt I am driving without lifting the arm rest. The total on this invoice was $2800.00!
The batteries, the wheels, and the tires were put on my chair even though your employees had been told on several occasions that we did not want these things done to the chair.I am considering a report to the Better Business Bureau, and the consumer reporter at the t.v. stations. I would hate for other people in the handicapped community to be swindled such as we have been. It really doesn??t speak well for the compassion and understanding that a company who deals with who are handicapped. Things for us are already overly costly without being taken advantage of.

United Seating and mobility is offering very poor business. I ordered a hospital bed. Medicaid never even got the order. Had to go with another company. Ordered wheel chair repair and they have messed it all up. It tkes many calls to get service or even to get an order straightened out. Time iIdon't have when trying to care for a severly handicap adult son

I have MD, and when it was time to make the transition from walker to chair I was obviously unnerved. My seating technician was not only thorough explaining all the components of the chair, he was also so nice! I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a new wheelchair!

I am the mother of a 12 year old kid with cerebral palsy in Virginia. I got a Quickie 2 base wheelchair from United Seating less than a year ago. At the time I noticed that the chair did not have a lot of growth built into it - which you NEED when you have a preteen. The United Seating technician said it would be easy to add a growth kit when the time came.

The chair, which is meant to fold flat for transport was assembled with a fixed seat, which I didn't discover until I
was trying to put it into my car after our appointment at Kluge Children's Rehab Center at UVA. The technician was gone. So I had to tranport a fully extended chair in my car home, and then make another 100 mile trip to Fishersville Virginia get the wheelchair seat and seat base changed out to one that would allow the wheelchair to fold. This change was not done at the Fishersville office of United Seating. It was done in a parking lot off of I-81 for my convenience

It is now less than a year later and my kid is growing fast. I try contacting United Mobility this week to enlarge the wheelchair, and all email, and phones in Virginia are disconnected and the business is gone.

I am now in the position of getting another equipment company to pick up the slack. And then we have to try to convince Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to pay for the mistake. Yeah, good luck with that!

I tracked down the wheelchair technician, Bill Lalla, who did the work at United Seating and Mobility. He lost his job when they folded in Virginia. He said I need to contact Sunrise Medical who makes the wheelchair - not United Seating and Mobility - to try to get the wheelchair upgrade.

These people are totally unprofessional and disorganized. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Lost 2 cushions that were intended for repairs. One was replaced eventually. Gave up on the other one.
Phone calls and orders were not placed on a new order.
Transfered my bussiness to Rehab Medical and received excellent service. Unfortunately Rehab Medical was bought out by united seating and mobility. I have another order in progress with united seating and mobility, wish me luck.

Dear Sir, Madam,
I am writing you with respect to invoice # xxxx,, which I received on July 6, 2007.
When my wheelchair was delivered (the second time, it had not been repaired on the first delivery attempt) I paid the invoice in full. I can produce both the invoice, and payment verification. Furthermore, it took your company the better part of 3 months to properly repair and return my wheelchair. Nor did your company provide me with a loaner chair. Perhaps, I should not now be surprised that you are billing me now, for an invoice you generated on April 27, 2007, over 2 months ago. I hardily refute the genuiness of this charge, and I refuse to pay it, as I am in possession of the final receipt, signed by your employee, indicating ??paid in full?.

And then, nearly 4 months later, they send another bill for the same charge - my response is posted below

Dear Sir, or Madam
I have attached a copy of the letter I posted to you on July 9, 2007. Since you did not respond in a timely manner, I assumed closure on this matter. However, it appears to be a pattern of yours to delay your correspondences by a minimum of 90 days.

This letter is to inform you that if you do not rectify this error in a timely matter, I shall have no choice but to consider your insistent demands for monies not owed to you as harassment. Furthermore, should you suggest that my credit rating will be negatively affected by my refusal to pay this amount, it shall considered extortion. In addition, should you actually report this to any credit rating agency as ??uncollectable?, ??unresolved,? etc., that shall be considered defamation of credit, and defamation of character.

I look forward to the acknowledgement of receipt of this missive, or your written response within 30 (thirty) calendar days.

Please govern yourself accordingly.

My salesman wrote up a wheelchair order for me before I left the hospital. When it came time to deliver the chair, he brought one off showroom floor that was different from what I ordered. He also wanted to sell me some used e-motion wheels for the full price. used. When he left the chair for me to try, he didn't set it up properly, so I was flopping around all over the place. Needless to say, I'm didn't buy a chair from him, but it caused a significant delay and I still don't have a good chair.

This company SUCKS!! They came out to my house to measure me and fit me for a walker and wheelchair prior to my scheduled surgery. The salesman agreed to give me a loaner wheelchair until mine came in as ordered to my specifications. He had me to sit and stand and took all kinds of measurements and they never provided the wheelchair I ordered. I was stuck with a loaner chair that was in very bad shape and the legs would not elevate on the chair, which was what my doctor wanted. I had to come home from the hospital 5 days later with no walker. They didn't provide it either until I complained to manager. I called back about my wheelchair and they stated that it was not in (never ordered). I would never use them again.

I'm about to sound like a real "ingrate," but here's my situation. I have Multiple Sclerosis & am experiencing a severe MS attack, which is limiting my ability to walk. I'm also somewhat unemployed (am a part-time substitute teacher). United was supposed to deliver a wheelchair & other items to me today. I was going to reschedule delivery because when I scheduled delivery, I didn't realize I had another important appointment this morning that I'd miss in order to get this delivery, plus I'd have to miss a day of work to get this delivery. But I lost their phone number (& name of the company), so took off work (even though I really need $). I also had to miss an important appointment. 15 minutes before the scheduled delivery, they called me to tell me they couldn't deliver these items/didn't know when they could. I appreciate that I WILL be getting these items. But I'm going through a very rough period right now; this is only adding to my troubles.

I've been dealing with United Seating and Mobility for about 6 years. The products and workmanship from them has always been top notch, but the service is unbelievable. While the people I've dealt with up there are very kind and accommodating, they almost never return a call. They don't follow up on paperwork, leaving orders sitting indefinitely unless you bug them constantly. If you use them to order parts for your chair, plan on waiting 1-2 months at the very minimum. And that's if you stay on them about it. If you leave things up to them, the order will likely get lost, stalled, forgotten, etc.

Overall I was not happy with the prefessionalism of United Seating. They did not return calls. They lost my order and had to redo the paper work. However the wheelchairs and feeding chair I ordered from them was top quality. Was nicely put together and delivered to my door. It did take 6 months to recieve equipment after placing the order. They did send a repair person to my home when the brakes on the wheelchairs were not works. So I reccomend thier products I just dont care for the was the office treats its clients.

PROS: a varitey of chairs
CONS: dont return calls
