If you're looking for some great Pho, then Pho Grand is the place to go. One of the better Pho places in St. Louis in my opinion. I try to make it here whenever I'm back in town for a visit.

BEWARE: Check your credit card bills because PHO Grand charges more than the amount on your receipt. It already happened to me twice on take out orders, they charged me $5 dollar more than the amount I signed off for. The food is decent, but I can't tolerate unethical practices.

This place is totally amazing. Everything is perfect; their food, presentation, service, staff, and ambiance is impeccable. The flavors are always well balanced and very clean. Nothing is too heavy unless you go on a gorge fest or something, which is not hard to do. I've tried most things on their menu and there is nothing I would not recommend. Another bonus is that their service is very fast. This place totally flows like butter. This is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant in Saint Louis.

Pros: Perfection

Cons: You'll never go elsewhere

This restaurant was lacking in so many things.

Here is a list:

-Servers were rude and snobby. When I asked about the menu items, my server gave a big sigh and did not help much.
-Food was very bland and not flavorful like normal vietnamese cuisine.
-The interior is musky and unappealing
-The wait for my food was unbelievable. Vietnamese food, as many experts would know, is very speedy.
- The wait for my check was unbelievable. (server complaint again.)
-The list of desserts and drinks were not very authentic for a vietnamese cuisine.
- I went with a vietnamese friend who heard the servers speaking in vietnamese about the other customers, which is very rude.
-Not family friendly
-Not romantic
-Interior needs redecorating and updating.

There were a few things that made my trip not as bad.

Prices were pretty decent.

My suggestion, skip this restaurant and check out LemonGrass Restaurant, down the street, for actual "AUTHENTIC" Vietnamese cuisine.
Check out my review.

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Horrible Staff. Long waiting. Bland food. Cramped dining.

My wife and I have been going to Pho Grand since 1990 when we first met. The food is excellent and the service is great ! We think that all the other reviews where the reviewer is writing about the cramped quarters just have never been to good ethnic eateries in cities such as Boston or SF where small size is the standard. Our children (all under 10) just love the cuisine at Pho Grand. When we were grad students, we found Pho Grand very affordable and the reasonable prices continue.

We call Pho Grand an EXCELLENT dining experience. The cultural experience is phenomenal as well !!!!!!!!

Pho Grand is one of my favorite places to go. The service and food is always really good. They are not real fast, so if you are on a time schedule, it is not the best place to go. The restaurant is also kind of small, so there may be a bit of a wait, particularly for dinner.

I agree with the other recent reviews, with one exception. Yes, the majority of St. Louis has horrible Vietnamese. I've been to Houston, and STL can't compare to the Asian offering there, except for Bahn Mi So 1. If you're thinking about Pho Grand skip it and head further south on Grand. Everyone I've taken to Bahn Mi So is amazed at the flavors. It's what inspired me to cook Vietnamese!

My friends and I have never before tried Vietnamese food and Pho Grand got recommended to us by someone in passing. It was the biggest mistake to even go there. It was so cramped and the service was awful. The waitress we had was rude and when we asked her for some recommendations on the menu she got real snappy. If that wasn't enough we then order our food which takes about 45 min. to get to us and the food was horrible. I have no idea how they stay in business. Don't waste your time!!!!!!!!!11

Reading the reviews on here, it would seem like Pho Grand is the Vietnamese restaurant to end all Vietnamese restaurants. I've had much better, unfortunately, just not in Saint Louis. The price isn't too bad.

Pros: Best VN in STL, relatively cheap, nice decor

Cons: Best VN in STL

This place is great. The service is quick, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. There is a reason that they win as often as they do the RFT polls. If you love to vietnamese food, this is a must try.

My girlfriend recently moved to St. Louis for work and both of us, being from Texas, (Dallas and Houston, respectively) are accustomed to good VN food. VN service and food in STL is terrible. Pho Grand is no exception and would be out of business if competing in Houston. The broth was way too strong with anise and prices expensive. Service was terrible even by pho noodle house standards (which tend to be lacking anyhow). If visiting Houston then stop by the Chinatown in Bellaire on the west side for real Asian cuisine. What is with the dessert too? For a seemingly traditional VN restaurant the only dessert items were a very non-traditional creme pie and cheescake.

This was my first time going to this restaurant. I dined alone and had no idea of what to order from the menu. The waiter was very helpful in recommending a great dish as welll as an appetizer from the menu. I was very delighted. This was the best restaurant that I have been to in a very long time. I would recommend it to any one for dine in or carry out, especially a couple.

This is always my fallback for a cheap and good meal. The servings are just enough to fill you up without putting a dent in your wallet. The service is fast and the wait on busy evenings is not long. There's an upstairs waiting area for you to chill out.
From what I hear, the food is pretty authentic.

My wife and I have been eating there since it opened 13 or 14 years ago. We love the egg rolls that we dip in their wonderful lemongrass sauce. I highly recommend from the menu: 20.01 & 18.01.
One is a marinated pork chop, the other is pieces of steak. Both are served with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, and several kinds of onion over rice. Wonderful food, service and price!

Oh...The Vietnamese iced coffee is made at your table on top of your glass...Delicious!

After having been told by multiple people that Pho Grand was the best Vietnamese food in town, we tried it -- and were we ever disappointed! The spring rolls were bland -- these are amazing if you've ever had good ones. For the main course, I ordered Pho (their namesake dish, it would seem); the broth was flavorless, the beef was overly done, and the noodles were soggy from overcooking. And, to top it all off, our service was brusque and bordering on rude. This was an extremely disappointing dining experience. The only thing positive was that it was inexpensive, as Vietnamese food usually is.

I discovered Pho Grand about 6 months ago (thanks to citysearch) and have since been back a couple time each month. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is excellent, and the servers are friendly and attentive. The value is second to none, as well. There is no better place to bring a date to on a limited budget.

Order the egg rolls and make sure to dip them in the sauce provided, you won't be dissapointed.

I was waiting for my friend on Valentine's day, for about 25 minutes, ordered appetizer and a glass of wine. After 20 minutes the hostess came to my table and asked me if I could wait in the waiting area as a favor for them. I thought it was the rudest behavior imaginable to ask a woman apparently waiting for a date on Valentine's day to leave. I will never go back, although the food was great.

This place got high reviews from Zagat's and I have enjoyed it for years. The recently updated menu includes many new and fresh choices... and it is so CHEAP to eat here... I recommend it highly... but it is usually crowded... so come at an off time or call ahead... or wait.

Personally, Pho Grand has been my favorite restaurant since i moved here to Saint Louis, and that is out of all the restauirants ive been to in the east coast and the other midwestern sates. If you think you don't like asian food as a rule, you might be suprised, this is AUTHENTIC vietnamese cuisine, not your chinese delivery, it is excellent food, at a fantastic price. The service is good, the atmosphere is beautiful and theres always somethingnew to try, and I'm never dissappointed. I highly recommend that you start with the spring rolls, dip them in the porange sauce, and then some plum (which will be in the caddy on the table). oh and though the restaurant itself is very small, it adds to the charm, just make sure you get there before the crowds on friday and saturday evenings.

Think Thai, but not as rich and sweet. Start out with the spring rolls and you can't go wrong, but make sure you try the wonton soup and the lotus root salad. The tofu is surprisingly good (and I'm NOT a vegetarian!).

PHO Grand is the best Asian resturant I have found in St. Louis. Try the Pho Tai for a great beef and rice noodle soup and the garlic shrimp. The prices are amazingly cheap. The resturant is small but very cute with great service. Even the restrooms are spotless.

I love everthing I have tried at Pho Grand, but the garlic shimp is my favorite! The great, great thing about this place is that you can get appetizers, main course, and wine for two, leave a good tip, and still not spend $40!!! Great for those of us on a budget! Only problem, it is BUSY!!! Go early!!!

Thank God for Pho Grand! There are great restaurants out there, but Pho Grand is off the charts. Even while traveling through Europe, I could not wait to get back to St. Louis so I could eat at Pho Grand. The food makes my taste buds dance!
The service is also remarkable. Fast, friendly and almost like family once you get hooked.
The Ambience is pleasent and relaxing with touches of Vietnamese culture. Their Web site (www.phogrand.com) gives my Pho Grand first-timer friends an easy welcome with
it's full menu with descriptions. And the look and feel is parallel to the restaurant itself.
Very helpful. I love this place!
