While a beautiful shop, with decent prices there are a couple of things about this shop I don't like. They vastly underfeed their snakes...by a lot. The man, as mentioned in another review, is quite nice, but the woman who works there acts like she hates people, and gives them advice but more pushes her advice onto them rather than give them the chance to research the subject and decide for themselves.

They also don't let potential pet owners know about the proper care for the animals they are buying, for example we bought 6 fiddler crabs which all died within days before we found on the internet they had to be able to come out onto land, and that they require brackish water....freshwater flat out slowly kills them.

Other than those things, I recommend this as a pet store, they certainly have a lovely variety of both pets and supplies, and I have found their fish to be very healthy and have had no problems with the fish I have purchased there, in fact they seemed healthy - and when compared to Walmarts Ich-infested fish, these fish seem nearly pristine.

I also wish their hours were different, they open the same time the only other pet store in Warrensburg opens (on most days), which is 11 am. Hey, hello...I work 3rd shift, I need a shop that can either open early (say 8 am like the rest of the world) or stay open late.

So, deal with the guy when possible, ask about the care of your animal before purchasing, and be sure to examine your animal carefully before purchase. BEFORE you make your purchases, make sure you've already done your own research on the internet about the fish or animal you wish to purchase - just because they house a pet in a certain way, doesn't mean it's the most ideal way...or in my opinion even close to right, but overall they are much better than Pet Lover's Lane.

Pretty decent selection of freshwater fish, however, many of the fish show signs of disease and they are often a few or more floaters. The stock on the shelves is dusty and out dated. The woman who works here is not what I'd call friendly. She seemed a bit annoyed when I asked for help and information regarding a few products. She also gave me false information regarding the diet of my turtles, so I feel her credibility is nonexistent. The man who works here is very helpful and friendly. Overall, I'd shop elsewhere if at all possible.

For a pet store co-owned by law enforcement, they have no trouble ripping off repeat customers. I was completely impressed when this shop first opened, they kept the cages unsoiled and all the animals looked healthy, but unforgivably (especially for the animals) cages are unclean and aquariums often contain dead and partially eaten fish. I also used to enjoy their weekend hours, but those have gone the way of the above mentioned cruelty. I've always been a supporter of locally-owned pet stores, as they always have compassion and a true love for animals; Country Pets lack this selling point. They have tried to sell me dead feeders several times, and have reacted negatively when asked to replace it with a live one. My advice is; consider shopping elsewhere if possible.
