Winslow's is your best bet for dining out, drinking, and catching a Sunday Chiefs' game. If you're an aspiring musician coming in for their jam sessions, and you're NOT one of the house band's family or friends, take your time and efforts elsewhere. I waited an hour and got my guitar drowned out during two songs, then got yanked despite a great audience response. Great eats, great beer...LOUSY place to jam!!!

You know how when you're new to a city, you look to go out and experience, to enjoy, all the new things a new place has to offer...well, in that vein, when deciding to go out and eat BBQ in KC today, I weighed the fact that Winslow's had live blues music, was in a lovely farmer's market, with a little character, and that KC was simply known for great BBQ. Man...did I blow it on this one, I should have known better when I asked the guy behind the counter "what was good...what do you recommend..." and he responded "well...smoked meat really isn't my thing." I should have sensed Winslow's is to BBQ what McDonald's is to the hamburger, when I had to show the girl behind the counter how to enter .50 (for 1/2 lb) on her register in order for me to be charged for half a pound of meat...But enough of that negativity, let me tell you what Winslow's does well...they soak their brisket meat in water...they must, for about a week prior to serving it, because once you get it, it's a tasteless as can be...all you get is some watery grey mass. That would be ok if you got a decent sauce to mask the watery beef, but you don't. I think they must simply take ketchup and add some sugar to their sauce because it's the weakest excuse for a sauce that I've ever had. I'd rather eat North Carolina vinegar sauce than that watery tripe they have at Winslows. Talk about disappointed. The market is great, the music is great, heck, even the toddler swimming in the gutter while his parents slurped down martini's was entertaining, but go to Winslows for the beer, in the bar...because someone else makes that stuff, and at least you can be sure that the Boulevard Brewers know what the bleep they're doing, because Winslow either doesn't know, or simply doesn't care anymore.

I love this place! Their food is always great! Make sure you get there early though if you go on a Farmers Market day, because they sell out of almost everything after lunch! The last time I was there I was really disappointed with the service. They were rude and didn't want to wait on us (basically just ignored us) and they weren't at all busy. But all of the other times they've been really great and friendly. I'd recommend them to anyone looking to have a real KC BBQ experience!

Very Good BBQ. Lots of smokey flavor especially in the bean. Right down in the middle of City Market go do your morning shopping and top it off with a BBQ lunch.

We are on a quest to find the best BBQ in KC. Winslow's was the first restaurant on our list. If good BBQ is defined by sauce, then Winslow's is in the top five. Our reason for not returning is the facility. We love to dine outside and at times the smells have not been too appetizing. They do not seem to clean the outside area as much as needed. Go, sit inside, and enjoy some KC BBQ.

If you like a good spicy sauce, you'll want to pass on this place. The food was decent, but without a quality sauce to go with it I can't say I'll go back anytime soon. The staff was friendly and the place was clean, so not a bad experience.

the barbeque and staff are equally wonderful. the atmosphere left something to be desired though. im a smoker, but when i eat i hate the smell of smoke. it has very dim lighting, smoke smell, and sometimes an odd smell coming out of it. i love the barbeque they offer. i think its some of the best in kc, but i recommend getting a to go order.

Winslow's is my favorite stop in K.C. for smoked ribs & wings. The best time to getthere is for lunch because they don't stay open very late. The ribs aresmoked perfect and meaty the beans are okay. The smoked wings are great also.

I never thought any KC BBQ joint would "oversmoke their meats til I tried Winslow's.
Our beef brisket was a bit over-smoked and got in the way of tasting the beef itself. Brisket itself was good quality - a bit reminiscent of Arthur Bryants and also of Gates too. Beans were same way too. Fries were good compliment though and overall ambiance was good. It makes for an average KC BBQ joint in my opinion. Of course, remember, the worst KC BBQ joint still beats anything else in the USA! Ya hear that Memphis?
