A family favorite restaurant for dinner where quality of food is exceptional and cost doesn't break the bank. Seating is spacious (where you don't need to ease-drop on neighboring tables).

Why aren't you eating here? This is a great, simple and friendly neighborhood restaurant with tasty food. Faves include whole fish, orange chicken and hardened bean curd with beef.

My wife and I have been coming here on and off since the late 1980s. The menu hasn't changed much at all, but why should it?

This place is right up the street from my work and I have ate there a few times. Good selection and taste. However the last time I was there I walked past a hallway to the kitchen and omg...I could see back in there and no way am I ever going back. I have since found a better place on 39th just west of sw tfwy. I think it is Oriental something. Great food and clean.

The lackluster exterior gives way to a hidden gem of Chinese food. It's a simple, quiet restaurant, with a friendly owner who gives excellent service. The food is tasty, inexpensive, and worth a return visit. I think the majority of their business is takeout, but I enjoyed dining in. The booths were comfortable and the service made for a great experience. I look forward to tasting more delights on this menu!

I wanted to go here a few times before writing my review. That said this place has been instrumental in helping me finish my thesis.

Peking serves up a great variety of all your favorite cheap Chinese foods for less than $10 per person including a soda. And when it comes to portions, man these folks have portions that are pretty big.

Also I can not say enough about how friendly the folks who work there are. They genuinely take delight in seeing the smiles on customers faces as they gorge themselves at one of the greatest bargains in Kansas City.

To sum it up:
Fast
Inexpensive
Friendly
lots of variety
Near my office
Easily my favorite eat near Pickle research Campus.

Please don't be fooled by the outside. Peking Chinese Restaurant is freakin awesome. My fiance and I have now deemed out our favorite place for chinese!

The times that we've been there, it's been pretty quiet. They've recently opened, and I get the feeling not too many people know about this little gem, or get fooled by its' outside appearance. Hence, the review to get the ball rolling. The wait staff is superb - so friendly, extremely nice, and wanting to genuinely see if you're enjoying the food.

Prices are beyound reasonable! Most platters range from $6-$8. The portions are very generous. All the times we've gone there. Their lettuce wraps and crab puffs are out of this world, so delicious. Soup and lots of rice come with every dish, both equally good. My fiance and i have had the Chef's Special Platter, the orange chicken, General Tso's chicken, the chili platter, and another one I cannot recall the name of. Irregardless, they were all tasty, and provided more than enough for lunch the next day.

The people at Peking are the type that are hard to find now a days as far as service goes. The food is fresh, hot, yummy, and delicious. Don't judge this hidden secret by it's outside...the food is fantastic!!!!

Just to tell everyone I am not a big fan of corporate restaurants. I travel a lot and it seems like every where I go the local restaurants are disappearing. The great thing about corporate restaurants the food and service is constant from one location to another. Trying new local restaurants are literally a hit or miss. Peking Chinese Restaurant is one of those few hits you will find when it comes to local restaurants. I prefer their homemade crab ran gons and hot and sour soup. The main dishes are very good. My favorite Chinese food has always been the crab ran goons and hot and sour. Happy Eating...

This was my favorite place for Chinese lunch, dinner or take out when I lived and worked in the area. My former roomies also liked this place. The only place in Kansas City for quality, yummie Chinese food. The restaurant is quite busy, I go there whenever I'm in the area and the quality as good as I remember.

I live in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA; the epitome of Chinese food in America. I came to Kansas for a filming and I had a craving for delicious Chinese food. I searched up from citysearch and realize there was this great Chinese restaurant. The reviews under city search are 150% correct.

For the last five months I have been recommending my friends to come to this Chinese restaurant when they come to Kansas for business. I can rave on and on about the Chinese food but the most important part. You have to try it! My Chinese food palette is ridiculously picky and this restaurant fulfilled my needs.

My friends and I have been going to Peking Chinese Restaurant for years, ever since we found out about their traditional American Chinese food. Thought I drop in and write something about them. They have pretty good food and the waitress / owner (Heidi) is a friendly woman to talk to. Yes, their food is not that salty and pretty tasty since it's different from Cantonese Chinese food. It used to be pretty difficult finding parking. Recently they started selling crabs and BBQ pork. The BBQ are the BEST and their crab is not expensive at all and prepared fresh and whole (chopped into pieces) compared to the other nearby restaurants.. Give them a try, affordable and tasty are the key words for this neighborhood restaurant.
