have never been so disgusted by a physician's office! My insurance recently changed and I was referred to this pediatric office. My 13 yr old daughter needed to be seen very soon for a severe pain to be evaluated for injury. I called the office to try to schedule an appt and was told that none of the doctors would see her due to some kind of "walk-in" status that she was classified under when she was born at Cox South Hospital. The person I spoke with said it was something to do with the fact that she had not been established with a pediatrician through Cox when she was born. I explained to the woman that we did not live here when my daughter was born and she had a local pediatrician and has had one since she was born. The woman said it was a clinic policy that they did not take any patients with that "status." So, because of some kind of internal classification system through Cox, FROM 13 YEARS AGO, this office refused to see my daughter even though its providers are preferred through our insurance. I would think twice about a provider that denies care to an insured patient.
We could not ask for better care than the care our daughter has received from Dr. Hampton and her associates. Our daughter has some chronic health problems, which result in frequent acute illnesses. We have always been able to get in to see a doctor the same day when called when she was sick. It may not be with Dr. Hampton, but she would be seen by one of her associates. I love that we can call any time with any questions and immediately speak to a nurse. No voice mail and waiting for a call back. After hours nurses at St. Louis Children's Hospital are on call. There is always someone available. Everyone from the doctors to the nurses to the front office staff that we have had experience with have been extremely courteous, patient, and professional. They take the time to answer any questions we have, never seem rushed while they're with us, and take whatever amount of time is needed to answer any and all of our questions and concerns. We are very comfortable in and confident with the care they provide for our daughter and the reassurance and understanding they provide us as her parents.
We have been with Ped. of Springfield for over 6 years. Just as of recently we have decided to change offices. Dr. Hearty was our doctor and in the past 6months to a year we have had some major issues, everything my two children have had has been a "virus" and needed to run it's 5-14 day course. ---When taken to an urgent care they had ear infections, throat infections, and even worst pneumonia!!! But yet it was a "virus". Although the nurses are very caring and excellent along with the most of the girls in the front office. When the "old school" doctors retired, such as Hamburg and Collins this office has went down hill in a hurry. not impressed any more.
I've used this office for the last 6 years, and refused to change doctors when insurance changed. Dr. Hearty is very dedicated and has always either been up to date on any issue or question I've had, or was willing to go look for the (obscure) information and provide it to me. The nurses, both for visits and for phone calls are always willing to discuss options, things to look for, treatments, and they recognize when we need to come in and when we don't. When we were real hard-pressed for money, they even carried our medical visits until I could get back to work. I've seen other doctors when a child was sick. I've always received total honesty, willingness to answer questions until I was satisfied, and great advice. Well child checkups *have* to be scheduled well in advance, but for sick children - you'll get in.
Pediatric Associates is an excellent place to take any child. From birth to yearly wellness checks, I have received nothing but great service from the front desk to the doctors. I went to Dr. Collins as a child and was able to take my child to him until his retirement this past year. His replacement is Dr. Sears, and she is excellent!
We have used this pediatricians office since we changed insurance 2 years ago. We see Dr Hearty, but we have also seen Dr Collins. I cannot say enough good things about this office! The telepone triage nurses are friendly and helpful. I always get same day appointments for sick kids, and the office does not want its patients going to urgent care so there are weekend and holiday office hours for emergencies. Last May my 2 year old was very ill. Dr Collins and his nurse stayed late waiting to hear test results. Dr Collins walked us over to the hospital when my daughter had to be admitted. He made rounds to see us daily, and called several times a day to check on my daughter. He always listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. I could tell he truly cared about us. I highly recommend this office!
To sum this all up in one word AWFUL! I had the hardest time getting appointments. When I called because my kids were sick they gave me an appointment 2 weeks out because they jkust couldnt squeeze me in. She did not and would not address my concerns and I felt like I was just taking up her time. I would NOT recommend her to anyone!
