This place has amazing Vietnamese food - BEST in the city! Whenever I go any place and order spring rolls, I always compare them to the ones at Saigon 39. So far, after 9 years, I haven't found any that come close. My top choices are the #8 or #9 dinners, with spring rolls, of course!

A crew of us from work go to Saigon 39 several times a month. The best item on the menu is their spring rolls. These are soft cold (not fried) healthy spring rolls with shrimp, cilantro, rice noodles and carrots in a translucent rice wrapper. They come with a moderately spicy peanut sauce and there are three per order. Sometimes I only have the spring rolls for lunch, they are so good! There is a busy lunch crowd and the decor is casual, with booths and tables if varying size. Silverware, chopsticks and lots of napkins are on the tables. Their hot tea is delicious and you get plenty of refills. Entrees are cooked to order and you can omit or add ingredients. Prices are affordable and you get more than enough food to fill you up.I highly recommend eating at Saigon 39! You won't find better Vietnamese food in Kansas City!

The restaurant is ok, got seated pretty quickly, the service was good, and the people there are kind. The only thing that I didn't like was how they named the restaurant Saigon, and didn't serve any famous Vietnamese dishes. I drove for 2 hours to get to the place and was disappointed because I was craving for a certain Vietnamese dish or anything else that was remotely close. The only thing that was remotely close was the Spring Rolls. The Bun Riau (Red Tomato Noodle Soup) was ok, it didn't have much taste to it, and the rice noodle was small, wasn't the big ones that I usually eat. For price wise, it is expensive for what you get. It?s even more expensive than the Vietnamese restaurants in Los Angeles, CA. What I think is that the cooks are half lazy and that they are cheap to buy real ingredients. Well, for a person like me, who is picky on Asian cuisines, I wouldn't recommend it. For people who have never tasted real Vietnamese food, then I go for it but, once you have tasted the real Vietnamese food, I think you'll feel the same way too.

My fiance and I come here all the time just to order a bunch of spring rolls. They are the best spring rolls I have ever had in my life and the peanut sauce they give you to dip in is to die for.
