We buy their beans, and they're usually perfect. We usually get a latte while there too and they're great, and have a pretty artwork on top.

This is one of my favorite shops in the city. I go quite frequently actually. Culturally it an intriguing place where people can be themselves. Also the prices, though just hiked, are still some of the best in town.

I do feel that the coffee can be hit an miss though. I get a good shot of espresso about 70% of the time and the drip coffee can be off sometimes as well.

When I know that I am getting a veteran barista, someone I recognize, I feel more confident about ordering espresso.

This is the little cafe which used to be next to Starbuck's but drove corporate coffee out of the neighborhood. I think their coffee is okay but the customers there are kind of grunge-snobby, like, "We are cool because we go to a local coffee house."

I'm from the west coast, where we have more Starbucks than McDonalds. I was so happy to find this little coffee shop, they know what they're doing and it reminds me of home. They even know how to do latte art. (If you don't know what that is you must check it out) Any way to create latte art, the espresso and milk must be perfect...meaning this place has the best tasting coffee you'll find around here.

Pros: Best coffee, fresh beans, latte art

Cons: no sofas!

Broadway Cafe is the best known coffee shop in Kansas City. They really take their coffee seriously. Being one who roasts coffee myself, I am extremely impressed with their roasts and blends. Their staff is wonderfuly trained and profession. The environment is conducive to study or socializing. Leave Starbucks or other coffee chains behind. If you are a coffee fan, you cannot miss Broadway Cafe on your next trip to Kansas City.

Broadway cafe has possibly the best coffee drinks in town. You are bond to see someone you know everytime you visit, and the staff is very friendly. They also carry sandwiches from a local resturant in town, a must see!

I have nothing bad to say about the coffee at broadway. They really know what's going on in the way of roasting and extracting. Their atmosphere at their original store is ok, just a little uninviting. With just tables and chairs I have a hard time sitting and reading a book. They offer more merchandise than the average coffee shop that shows attention to detail. They know what cold press (or toddy) is, even though they didn't invent it, but they do offer the tools to make it at home. Their staff, while knowledgable, at times makes the customer feel inferior in the way that they choose to consume their own beverage. I still go, due to coffee quality and attention to detail, but I know how I lke my coffee and I know whether or not I want it for here or to go.
