The people of this business are in fact nice. They do what they do well. However, my experience has been sour. I joined with a friend about 2 years ago through a Groupon. We were quickly pulled into a full membership, but on terms that were exceptional to our case seeing that we were college students and would not be able to attend consistently. Not to mention, Jeremy knew that we were going to exit in a year or two since the two of us were not from St. Louis. He understood and told us when this time comes, our exiting fee would simply be $15. Now, the two of us thought, $15?! This cannot be! but it sure was and this was our selling points to our parents. When someone tells you great news, you will never forget it.

Today is the day of our membership termination as we are both leaving this city. We explained what was told to us, however, we were told this is completely incorrect and that we are to pay $59+tax to terminate. Now we are thinking...WHAT? Here's the thing, we are college students...we wouldn't have agreed to this 2 years back. This man at the desk told me this was miscommunication on MY end and that I misunderstood. I'm sorry, I've worked in customer service for quite sometime and I can tell you know, the customer is always right in any circumstance, in any business. But this man was very stern in saying that I was the one who misunderstood. I asked to speak with Jeremy who I joined with and they were quick to say no.

Needless to say, I felt that I was taken advantage of being of a college student. I was told one thing and they delivered something else. I just simply felt disrespected.

To those out there, if you come across St. Louis Workout, I would be careful of what they tell you. Don't get me wrong, this is a gym like any other gyms with the monthly costs, exiting fines, etc. But if I was told that I can exit at $15, I expect this to be delivered and that is that. Don't quickly tell me false information so that you can get another member to add to the books.

Bottom line: DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!! Many things are wrong with this gym but basically the owners are completely dishonest. They have you sign a sketchy contract that says you can cancel your membership at any time, but then if you try to cancel, they make you pay a fee or do not let you cancel at all. They keep billing your card after you have cancelled your membership and if you don't pay them, they charge you late fees and take you to collections and ruin your credit rating. Also, the gym is cramped, hot, has old, run-down equipment. The personal trainers are awful: not professional, and one even sexually harassed me and still they would not refund my money. These guys are crooks. Do yourself a big favor and find another gym!!!

Steve N. Come on your not fooling anyone. The owner's name of this place happens to be Steve Taschler. Wow, next time at least put in a fake name so its not so obvious.

This place is really bad, I would never recommend it unless you want to be treated rudely and unfairly. The owner is condescending and rude.

Overall its outdated and dirty. Customer service is terrible and there are plenty of rude people that work there.

Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of D on a scale from A+ to F with a total of 43 complaints. This should tell you something! Keep looking because I guarantee you will be sorry if you join this gym.

What do you do when you owe a gym money because you didnt pay? Write a bad review! Haters will always be haters - shame because St. Louis Workout really is a nice place to exercise. Easy access, good equipment, awesome hours and staff refers to members by their namesake. They are the main hub of fitness in the CWE. Not too flashy nor too snubby - everyday people - an everyday place. :)

I recently joined Saint Louis Workout because they are one of the only 24 hour gyms in the area. I have been very happy with the club so far. Every day I work out I am greeted by a friendly front desk person and they will change the television to whatever I prefer. The club is always clean and never crowded. It??s a pretty good deal too, I am on the 29.99 month to month plan with a 30 day cancelation. I am very satisfied with my membership.

I loved the Chase location. Then it closed and we were sent to Union--5 lockers, 1 shower, filthy conditions. No ventilation. Then the big announcement: they were going to remodel! It took over a year, and we were without decent dressing and shower facilities the entire time. I finally just walked away from my contract, paid it in full and went to Fitness Factory on Washington, which is great!

Because only a stiff dose of voodoo could bring this place back to life. The trainers are not certified, the sign-up contract is not a contract, they clean their pool with soft scrub bleach, the workers are rude, and most importantly the place smells like grandma vagina and Ben gay. Do not sign up with this company, do not visit them. they will screw you when you try to cancel your membership and they will lie to you about everything when you sign up.

Check out their rating on the Better Business Bureau. It's a D and this is a plus/minus scale! The only way to cancel a contract or a membership of any kind at this gym is via certified mail. Does not matter if you go into the gym and cancel in person and they tell you that you are no longer a member. If you go about it this way, you will receive calls from their collection department in the months to follow. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

You can trust St. Louis Workout to do everything possible to get your money. They are worse than an auto-renew website. Forget trying to cancel anything with them. I prepaid a year's membership and was injured in the free first session with a personal trainer. Not realizing what had happened, I signed up the same day for 10 sessions with the then-head trainer. A few days later at my first paid appointment I told them that my back had been hurt and I couldn't do the training. They tried to switch me to a trainer I had never seen before and refused to give me my money back. After six months of physical therapy and fighting with them, they were still able to keep everything had paid. The partners in this business are real pieces of work and well-practiced at winning battles. I am filing suit against them next week.

The gym has very poor ventilation and is dirty. Overcrowded and small space makes work outing a unpleasant experience. Most machines are outdated. I signed into a year contract and gave a 45 day notice which seems like enough time to cancel but according to the small print on the contract there is a 60 day notice policy. The gym should notifies you when you are close to the year end date instead they just start deducting from your bank account. Then charges an additional 2 MONTHS. Bad business policy. Staff very inflexible to hear complaints. My recommendation is join the YMCA no year contract and you can cancel anytime.

PROS: zero pros about this gym
CONS:

The good: friendly people. There are some TV's to do cardio to. Good hours. Classes fair.
The bad: very pricey for the fair quality equipment it houses. Spinning classes are inconsistent in quality.
The ugly: the owners try to take advantage of their clients so READ THE FINE PRINT as the person in the other review said.
Overall recommend: join another gym. Find one that doesn't try to take advantage of its members.

PROS: Good hours. Not too crowded.
CONS: Too expensive; bad business practices

I worked out at the St. Louis Workout on Union and it was great. it's surprizingly not crowded at all, and I could always get on the machines I wanted. They'll also change the TV channel for you if you ask so you can work out watching something that better passes the time.
BUT....when we wanted to cancel our membership they made us pay for an extra 2 months, and then 'accidently' lost the cancelation date and charged me for an extra one. It was a huge amount of time dealing with people who couldn't figure out what they were doing and how to cancel memberships. They were fine at changing the channels, but the paperwork was a litttle too difficult for them. It ended up being a lot of effort to get my money.

The Kingshighway location of St. Louis Workout (in Chase Park Plaza) conveniently serves the central west end community. Just a jog away, it is a fun place to workout. The trainers and employees are exceptionally friendly. Features of a membership include free fitness evaluation and free classes (excluding spinning). With a 2 year contract, membership dues come to about $29 a month.

BEWARE: read the fine print on your contract. Many people have been hurt by the cancellation policy. You must notify them 2 months in advance of the end of your contract if you do not wish to renew, otherwise they keep charging you, and since you always have to give 60 day of termination notice, that ropes you into another 2 months of dues.
