Natalie has cut my hair for years and I have always been pleased with my cut / color. She always says if there is anything I want changed to come back, but I havent had to yet! I would highly recommend her services.

Not very good. I brought photos of me with an excellent curly-girl style and was assured it could be duplicated. Aside from the fact that I ended up with something totally different (but cute), the next day I found different lengths in the wrong places and broken, broken curls. Basically, it was just a bad haircut. I went back to Oliver's for a re-cut from a different stylist and three months later am waiting for enough hair to grow back so I can try again. Elsewhere.

BTW, they both chatted it up about their curly-girl training, but not too many of my curls were cut correctly. Both stylists broke my waves and my curls so that my hair looked frizzy and unkempt.

Cons: CAN'T CUT CURLY HAIR

.

The worst curlygirl hair cut I've ever had. Uneven, long random strands in the middle of what should have been a curl, razored at the ends to create frizz. Matter of fact, one of the worst hair cuts I've every had! Stay away Curlygirls!!!

I went to Olivers Studio to see Natalie for a curly girl hair cut a while back when I lived in St. Louis and she did such an amazing job the first time that the other day I went back to her, now driving 4 hours from Kansas City to see her. I have never really loved my curls before I met Natalie and now I know its just because they were never being cut correctly or taken care of properly...by my stylists, not me! Natalie gave me another AMAZING curly cut that really made me feel sexy. I will continue to travel cross-state just to see her because she's that great and it's so worth it! Even my husband makes comments on how great my hair looks after I see her!!

To all the negative comments, I don't know what they're talking about and those people probably just have a negative attitude about them to begin with. The prices might be high...I don't really pay attention because if you come out looking great and more importantly FEELING great, it's worth it!! I've never had a bad exeperience and I love the atmosphere of the salon!

I first found Natalie and Olivers Studio on NaturallyCurly and after years of bad cuts and hating my curls, decided to give them a try. AMAZING!!! It was the first time that I had ever walked out of a salon in love with my hair!! My husband loved it too, even though we cut it short and he likes long hair!

Since my first visit, I've moved 4 hours away to Kansas City. I love the way my hair looks when Natalie cuts it that I drive the 4 hours one way just to get my hair done!! Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing, yet fun. I constantly get comments on my hair and I always give props to Olivers Studio and Natalie!!

I just want to say that I love going to Oliver's. The ladies who work there are kind, personable, and have excellent taste. Every two months I see Natalie for a cut and it is always a refreshing and satisfying experience. I get compliments on my hair all the time, and everyone I send to Oliver's loves it. I'm so surprised about the negative comments, I think they are in very bad taste. I wish I could go more often, just for the experience!!

LOVE Natalie! I have crazy curly hair and in 40 years of life had never had a good cut until her! My brother now has a girlfriend who owns her own studio. She has begged me to cut my hair but I can't do it. Only Natalie has my trust! If you have curls visit the Studio!

I have gotten my haircut several times by Natalie, and have always been happy with it. The one time I was wasn't 100% satisfied she totally fixed what I didn't like and it was great. Yes, it's chaotic in there and yes they are loud, but it has never bothered me. And I don't know who thinks $50-$75 for a haircut is too pricey, but in Minneapolis (my home) that's the average price for a decent cut.

I can't believe the recent negative reviews about this place - those reviewers must be making things up!!!
I have went to several of the stylists including Katie and Natalie
and they did an excellent job!! I always get tons of compliments on my hair cut, style, and color. Yes, it is a little pricey but definitely worth it. When I moved to St. Louis a couple of years ago, I had a hard time finding a stylist/salon that did a good job. I have some absolute horror stories about other city located salons. Oliver's Studio was the perfect fit for me - its hip and trendy, cutting edge, friendly staff, and bottom line THEY DO GREAT WORK.

I have been a client at Oliver's Studio for several years now and have been increasingly impressed with the level of service they provide. They go out of their way with customer service to ensure that each client leaves happy with their experience. The level of service and knowledge of the staff is unrivaled in other salons. I have always been made to feel a part of the Oliver's Studio family with each visit. They have created an atmosphere that is hip but also extremely comfortable. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a quality beauty experience with a personal touch!

After being stopped by a complete stranger last week at Plaza Frontenac who complimented by hair (cut and color), I felt I had to get the word out---Oliver's Studio is the BEST! Natalie, the owner, hails from Chicago and brings with her all the best in knowledge and style that that city, one of my favorites, has to offer. Oliver's Studio is a fun and relaxing salon while still being very sophisticated and stylish! Natalie worked with me to find the best cut for me, and then taught me all the "tricks" to getting the look at home. Not only do I have an easy and fun cut, but also youthful (I am of a certain age!) and a beautiful color that hides and works with my "white blonde" roots!!! I have recommended Oliver's to many people and will most certainly continue to do so in the future.

I have been loyal to Oliver's Studio for years & have recommended this salon to a ton of people! The staff is fantastic & I've had cut/color services from several stylists. I have always been extremely happy with the results! I am greeted upon my arrival, offered a beverage, received a scalp massage during my hair washing, a consultation about the style I am hoping to achieve & a consultation on what products would work well with my new style. In reading the negative reviews written on this page, I'm shocked that we're talking about the same salon! While every individual experience is unique, it's obviously those that are negative that are voiced with the most dramatic tone. For every negative experience, I'm certain there are a hundred positive that are not posted. This is an independent salon with a large number of extremely loyal customers. However, this is not a large chain facility or a corporate owned salon. This is a small, independently owned & operated shop that attends to you as an individual. If you're looking for something on a grander scale, this is not the right stop. If you are looking for a funky, urban inspired salon to rev up your style, Oliver's Studio is for you!

When I went to Oliver's Studio for the first time this past spring I came away with the best haircut I have ever had! No joke. And every time since then has followed suit. I received great customer service from beginning to end. My stylist made sure to understand exactly what I wanted and then explained everything she was doing during the haircut. I found all the staff to be very friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in the door until I left. I look forward to my visits there as a time of relaxation especially because I know that when I leave I will be looking my best. I highly recommend Oliver's Studio.

I have had lived all over the country and had my hair done in dozens of places, and Oliver's Studio has given me my best hair ever! Natalie Clark, the owner has been giving me Curly Girl cuts for the last year and she is fantastic. It's a beautiful modern salon and the service is great. They even give you beverages! Natalie spends so much time really paying attention to every curl. My hair cut works so well with my face and my daily routine. I've never loved it more, and it' never been more healthy. She helps me pick products that work best for my extra curly hair. Last time I was there I got a super fun color and get compliments on my style nearly EVERY DAY. I am so happy going to Oliver's and would recommend them and Natalie to anyone!

I called Oliver's Studio for a Curly Girl haircut...like the ones in the Curly Girl book and like her web page advertises. It even says how she went to New York to study the Curly Girl method. Natalie knew that I read the book and that was why I was there. That is NOT what I got. She did not do one thing that was in the book...my hair was cut wet WRONG!, she used a fine toothed rat tail comb to pull through it and comb it WRONG! she did NOT cut it curl by curl WRONG! she did not even tell me how to care for curly hair WRONG!, even though that is why I was there. When I asked her why she cut my hair that way, she said "When I got back from NY, half of my clients liked the old haircut better, so I cut it that way". HELLO! Not what I signed up for!

Furthermore, my color was awful. It was striped on top. During my initial consultation, I told her it was lightened in the summer and, on top of that, I spent a lot of time in the pool, so I did NOT want any bleach on it. She agreed and reassured me NOT to worry, she would NOT be using bleach. WRONG again! She did use bleach, without telling me or asking me, in effort to tone down, my almost, mahogany and blond stripes on top of my head, that were supposed to be strawberry lowlights with golden highlights. She had to reprocess my hair before I even left. She said she did not like the Aveda products they have to use now and liked their old products better, that was why she said the color did not turn out. Considering she is the owner, you would think she would use what she thought worked best, not what she had to sell.

She did refund all of my money, after I told her I was going to a neighboring salon to get it fixed. Bottom line, I felt as if she did not listen to a word I said. I did not get the Curly Girl treatment that is highlighted on her webpage and in the book. To top it off, I had to get my hair redone, some place else.

I was not going to write a review, but I now know, first hand, how devastating it is to have a BAD hair day, at the hair salon!! One more thing, she charged $175 for cut and color, my hair is thin and barely touches my shoulder, so, that was very pricey for the services rendered. For that price, I would have loved a cup of coffee, in the 3+ hours I was there, but the pot was broken.

I had just moved to STL and, as a blonde, was extremely nervous about trying a new place out for color. Unfortunately, my first pick didn't turn out so great - James from Hair Pros was inept and unprofessional. Thankfully I stumbled onto Oliver's Studio website and felt like maybe they had it going on. I was so right; the salon is funky and cool and the people who work there are unbelievably friendly. Its the first place I have been to in the Missouri where customer service is an obvious priority. I love this salon and would recommend Amy Watson for color. They will take care of you from the moment you walk in the door.

I had an appointment with Oliver's Studio the last week in May and am still waiting for my hair to grow out. The cut was not all that bad but was extremely over priced. The salon is set up in a very tacky way and was very dirty. The owner was very loud and let her client wait for over 20 minutes while she sat in the back. Everything seemed very unorganized and the staff just didn't seem all the way there. Instead of my stylist Natalie asking me about myself she bombarded me with her boyfriend troubles and other personal issues that I really didn't care to hear about. I will not be returning. Over priced Aveda product, (I usually get it from the Galleria location), bad hair cut, and an owner who is rude to her employees. I do have to say that some of the employees were nice but my experience was just to bad for me to justify returning.

My daughter (4) and I just returned from Oliver??s Studio and had a very good experience! Her stylist, Emily, was simply wonderful. Her patient, peaceful demeanor won my shy daughter over. Emily did a terrific job with her hair ?? even and precise, layered around her face beautifully.

My stylist, Katie, was terrific as well! She asked the right questions about what I was looking for and read me very well. As a person who has difficulty communicating what I want I am looking for, I appreciated this. The end product was a wonderful cut and style. Katie took the time to talk with me about how to achieve the look at home, walking me through what she did.

The salon was modern and funky. I found it to be clean and comfortable. All of the staff I encountered were warm, friendly, and personable. The price was $25 for my daughter and $50 for me. Although a bit higher than your average salon, I will certainly return! I believe that Oliver's Studio and the stylists I had were worth it.

My friend referred me to Suzie at Oliver's Studio with the warning: it's "bordering chaotic and almost miserable in this salon as there is constant drama but I PROMISE... you will like Suzie and you will leave with great hair". After a year of jumping from stylist to stylist, not happy with the cut... I opted to try this salon.

Never again.

From a peek in the window, the salon looks stylish. The location is great. The logo is hip. The concept: fabulous.

The actual experience... an ENTIRELY different story.

These are the facts...

The salon is chaotic, loud, and overcrowded. It is arranged in a way that there is no pathway through. People have to weave in and out of other clients to even use the restroom. Not well planned.

The staff is young, inexperienced, and inattentive. I did like my stylist a lot, but she was not even able to talk over the rest of her peers who behave like a group over-animated clowns. Loud, obnoxious, over-the-top annoying.

The chairs are wobbly and tilt as you rotate. My robe smelled like mildew. There was hair all over the ugly dull blue vinyl floor. The staff consistently stepped over it, rather than sweeping, to go outside to smoke.

The phone rang off the hook and was left unattended/ unanswered while the staff smoked and/or shoved food in their faces in plain view of the customers.

The dryers, only 2, hang unevenly from a wall. Lucky you as a client gets an uncomfortable bench, shaped in a half moon to sit on while you process. You get to contort your body and bend to get at the right angle to get an even process thanks to the uneven hang of the dryers. All with a front row window view of the sylists smoking and bitching at one another in the ivy-infested courtyard.

The washing basins are equivalent to laying back on a rock in the full incline position. Seriously laying down flat! What were they THINKING?! SO glad I wore a skirt that day?! I got to stress out my entire wash over keeping my knees pinned together so other clients would get a good crotch shot. Nightmare.

The bathroom, with it's azure cheeseball 80's tulle and peacock feathers sticking out of the ceiling, along with it's cheapo fixtures, look like a cheap brothel. In additon, it was filthy.

The owner, who talked so loud my entire visit that I couldn't even hear my own stylist, shoved food in her mouth while preaching religious rhetoric that was unnecessary and personally offensive to me as I didn't agree with her personal beliefs.

She also bragged about the new location to be opening up. One could not help but wonder WHY on EARTH one would open up a SECOND shop when this one was so chaotic and out of control.

The products have no price tags/indicators and are OUTRAGEOUSLY more expensive than online or other salons when they ring them up. The retail mark-up in this salon is bordering embarrassing it is so outrageous!

As I said, I really liked my stylist. She was polite, friendly, and gave a great cut. But $200.00++ later (with products), I couldn't WAIT to leave so I could finally RELAX!!.

The focus at Oliver's studio is not on the customer. It is not on providing pamper time for their clientele. It is not on the hair. I personally see my salon time as my pamper time. Time for me to relax and give back to myself.

Unfortunately at Oliver's studio, that is not possible with the soundtrack of bickering and bitching and loud trance music.

This salon needs to get back to the basics: great hair, customer service, and providing the "urban refuge" that they advertise. Instead, the stylists focus on doing their own hair in the mirror, stuffing their faces with food, and frantically running outside to chain-smoke.

It depends on what you look for when seeking a salon. For me, the decent cut wasn't worth the stress, headache, and noise of my visit to Oliver's studio!

Total waste of a nice afternoon. I would rather have the split ends...

Olivers Studio is a trendy hair salon like I would find back home in NYC. The staff are really friendly and the place is very contemporary. I went to Lisa and I love my hair cut.

Pros: great atmosphere

Cons: not the cheapest haircut in STL

.

Top notch service! Beautiful salon full of professionals who really care about their clients. The stylist I went to , Gina, is amazing! Truly talented. She didn't just try to give me the latest trendy haircut, she gave me a style that was tailored to me. I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the shampooing, to the finishing touches on my beautiful new hairstyle. It is well worth $60 (plus tip) to feel like a million bucks! My hair never looked so good! I would highly recommend this salon to everyone!
