Soulard Restoration Group

I currently live in Soulard. When I first moved here I was excited to be close to shops, dining out, and work all set in a Historical Setting. Unfortunately, what I have experienced living here..is an area quickly going down: Shops are closing, homeless people sit on my porch, my daughter and grandson were victims of an attempted mugging in our alley, and our landlord is a slumlord. He had a homeless drunk attempting to fix things (when he did halfheartedly try to bring the apartment to some sort of habitable living) which then broke again, he has refused to repair the gate torn off its hinges 3 years ago at Mardi Gras, and just called me rude because I could not let a new tenant in because I have cancer and was unable to climb the stairs to unlock the storage compartment that he has "forgotten" to get a key for over 2 years. The reason I am writing you? He is a current member of the Soulard Restoration Committee and obviously if his manner and style of being a landlord reflect SGR perhaps that is why Soulard is quickly becoming the place NOT to live. If I wasn't currently stricken with Cancer and unable to move, I would be the first Person to move out of Soulard but even then I would be following a long stream of others currently making the exodus.
