I found the museum to have a little bit of each breed and have good narrative on each. The museum is well kept and available for private parties. It is not a very big museum and has limited displays and gift shop. I would not consider this to be "the" dog museum, but rather a nice place to stop for a quick break.

PROS: Clean, good narratives
CONS: Small and does not encompass everything about dogs

For the Dog lover, this is a museum celebrating the dog! The American Kennel Club opened the museum in St. Louis County Parks Queeny Park years ago, and since has grown to become a place for weddings and parties. The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog is not your usual museum, it offers very little of interest, even for the dog lover. I would consider it a waste of time, especially when there is so much more to see and do in West St. Louis County and throughout St. Louis.

Ratings_icons a wonderful way to spend the day

I took my two kids and my grandmother with me to the museum for a visit. None of us had been there previously and we are all animal lovers so we were expecting great things. What we found was a lot of interesting facts, and information about different breeds of animals, and some displays.

The only problem that I had with the place was that it was fairly difficult for my grandmother to get around because of all the stairs. There was an elevator for part of the museum, but the house connected to it was difficult for her to go up in because of the stairs.

All in all a wonderful experience. My son was just fascinated.

Ratings_icons great museum for dog people

If you are not a dog person, you may as well skip this museum as you will not enjoy it. It is as it sounds in that this is a museum honoring the dog. There is a lot of focus on the breeds and how they came about, as well as art and exhibits about different types of dogs.

This is located out in West County so for tourists staying downtown, it is a little bit of hike out here. However, it's a unique museum and one that dog lovers will really enjoy.
