I've was told in the past that Central Mississippi Medical Center (CMMC) had a lot to be desired. After staying there for only two days with my relative, I strongly agree with that assessment specifically in relation to the nursing staff. I don't know if the nurses?? poor performance was due to working long hours or just a training issue but this is the worst hospital I've ever visited. It's seems as if the nurses have no concept of a time schedule at CMMC. I know there are probably some good nurses somewhere on staff but unfortunately we didn't have one of them. If a patient is taking medication on a time schedule and the medication must be taken with food, you would think the nurses would be available during this time period to bring the patient something to eat so that he/she could take their medicine!!! Not at CMMC. For those of you that would like to get a preview of what to expect at CMMC, take my advice and drive the additional 30 mins. and save you and your love one piece of mind.

On behalf of this hospital and it's staff , I would like to say that we have had extended stays x3 in this facility within the past 24 months . I have to give the staff an above average rating on friendliness , compassion , and eagerness to be helpful to the patients as well as the family members.
We have used the services of several different expert physicians with much satisfaction in treatment and bedside manner of each within this facility. I personally think this is one of the best medical facilities in the Jackson area, and we will be using them again in the future. A very satisfied repeat patient .

I never really thought badly about CMMC until I got pregnant. I was born there (when it was Hinds General), both my sisters were born there, my dad worked there...so, it was a given that my husband and I would use this hospital when I gave birth to our daughter. We went through our childbirth class there, and it was a complete joke! Our childbirth instructor was great, but she was a volunteer and ran a business of her own...so, she did the best she could. When the time finally came for us to go on the maternity floor tour of where we would be having the baby, we were less than impressed...as were all the other couples in our class. It literally looked like a run-down hotel in the recovery room that we were shown. Very stale, dank, and dirty! The staff was very rude to us during the tour also...not one of them cracked a smile while we were being introduced to them...and these are the people we were supposed to entrust with our babies and ourselves during such an important time in our lives! My husband and I decided right then and there that there was no way we would bring our daughter into the world in that hospital. We decided to have our baby at St. Dominic...a much better choice. We also found out that 3 of the 4 other couples in our childbirth class ending up switching hospitals also!

PROS: Close to Byram, south Jackson, and Clinton areas
CONS: Entire hospital needs a makeover!
