I am sorry for any confusion to my earlier post- I thought that Woody's was a chain- Don't go to the one in Columbus, It's terrible- as for Tupelo, I have never been. I recently moved to California, but when I come back to MS I will be sure to try Woody's of Tupelo!

Business Response:

YOU HAVE THE WRONG RESTAURANT Hi, Kim. My name is Feather Burns, and I am the owner/manager of Woody's Tupelo Steakhouse, which is the restaurant being reviewed on this page. I was horrrified when I began reading your review, but then it became clear that you are talking about Woody's on the Water, a restaurant in Columbus which is NOT affiliated with us in any way. If you read this, PLEASE remove this review! I would like, however, to invite you to join us in Tupelo, and would love your input on OUR lovely dining room and menu. Bring your family, I graduated high school in Green Mountain, Colorado, so we may have something to talk about! I would say I would buy dessert for your family, but I'm not sure that would sit very well with you...so I'll start your table off with our Fried Green Tomatoes with sweet crawfish/tomato reduction, or perhaps our Blackened Beef Tidbits with tarragon mustard. Please contact me personally at our website if I can help with reservations!

Our hotel recommended this local steakhouse, and we're really glad they did! The hostess was charming, (turns out she's the owner) and got us a great corner table in the main dining room, which looked like a "Cattleman's Club", complete with longhorns over the door, and an old flint rifle mounted over the fireplace. I finally had fried green tomatoes, and they were really great. Tableside Caesar salad had great presentation, and better than any other I've had. For dinner I went a little 'wild' and tried the Buffalo London Broil - tender and delicious, I would definitely have it again. Neither of us really had room for dessert, but Bananas Fosters was worth making a little extra room. Our server, Debbie, was really great, friendly and helpful, and it was nice to sit in a dining room where you could hear yourself talk, and easier on the old wallet than in the big city. Just a really great meal, I will make it a point to visit here again whenever I'm in town. Just a word of warning, though, you might want to call ahead for a reservation. We went early and got a great table, but by the dinner hour there was a bit of a wait.

Great ambiance. Oysters on the 1/2 shell. Great filets. Wild game. Tasty halibut and lamb. For an appetizer, try the "blackened bits". Wine list could be expanded a bit.

Had a good meal but this place is very expensive, and the service was lacking in follow up. Drinks were somewhat pricey too. The Dj was a little to Urbane for my taste. But if thats what you like it's ok. Very crowded in the bar and had to wait about 10 minutes for the first drink. Someone started a fight and we watched them being dispatched by security the size of trucks. We were told that this happens somewhat regularly by another customer. We finished the evening in our hotel.

DIdn't expect to find this! BEAUTIFUL restaurant, candles, and not too stuffy! Had Organic Filet Mignon AND Buffalo!! Both were fantastic. Bananas Foster for dessert was really special. Service was impeccable, ambiance was SOOO relaxing (I want their decorator), just an incredible evening. Will be returning very often, think I need to try the Halibut next time.

PROS: Incredible food, great service, and fantastic decor
CONS: Might want to call ahead or make reservation

Woody's offers a fine dining experience. There is a dress code that apply for the main lobby. They offer unusual meals like buffalo and aligator. The prices are very expensive but if you want to eat well this is where to go.
