This company has forced other trades to close up shop due to litigation costs. Panola has a problem with telling it's subcontractors to 'do the change order work', then not paying. If you work with these people, which i WOULDN'T, you better get everything in writing!!!! At one point- Panola had 7 cases against them for lack of payment issues, not to mention the use of illegal workers, a lack of professionalism, and horrible staff. The laborers are not really the problem, it's Bill Burnett, Ricky Moore, Ronnie Step, and that ass-hat Jeffrey Papasan. I have talked a local company that had to shutdown due to all the litigation costs; in which Panola won because subcontractors don't think the GC would lie to their face-

POINT BLANK, F(CK PANOLA CONSTRUCTION

PS- Why does the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) constantly use such a sh!tty company?

Regarding the review below; Sir, if the all the contractor bids were higher than Ole Miss's budget, Ole Miss should have understood they didn't what it would cost to build something like that. You want to know why Ole Miss keeps getting screwed with change orders? Because they are too ignorant to understand that LOW BID = CHANGE ORDERS. YOU CANNOT DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR CHEAP. It doesn't work that way. The entire problem here is Ole Miss using cheap work, cheap arc.,cheap GC- Ole Miss wants to Jew every last penny out of the bid process, all while not understanding they will have to pay damn near the same original amount after change orders.

Terrible company to work with! Went in as subcontractor and Panola's bunch screwed up a bunch of work. We talked to head guys and were given verbal approval for add on work - - which was fixing THEIR screwups. Now they refuse to pay and we are left holding the bag. We will never work with this company again.

My experience with Panola has always been pleasant. This company is very easy to work with. They were understanding of necessary changes and willing to work until the job was completed. Workers were adequetly trained and quick to complete tasks. Small town company with serious work ethic.

Cheap, subpar work. They hire lots of Mexicans to do the labor in order to under bid the other contractors.

I work for the university of ms and have worked in conjunction with Panola on several projects. Most of my experiences with them have been pleasant. There have been a few issues on some of their jobs, but those happen with all construction projects. Sometimes it is the result of poor architectual or engineering work. Sometimes it is the contractors fault. For example see Yate's work at the basketball practice facility. They are also behind schedule and have cost the university lots of money in change orders. Either way, the general public always blames the contractor and doesn't understand what goes on behind the scenes. I'll say this, they work much cheaper than some of the state's bigger contractors. The bigger guys make their money by change ordering the university to death. Regarding the comment above about the baseball field. That thing would have never started if not for Panola. The first bids came in over budget and Panola was the only contractor within budget for the 2nd bid. If not for Panola's low bid, it would have gone back to the drawing board and had to have been bid for a third time. This would have caused it not to be ready for baseball season. If anyone wants to know the real culprit for the delays at the baseball field, they should look at the architect. CDFL was the architect and they failed to label all the underground utilities on the site plans. Everytime Panola tried to drill piles or dig for footings, they hit underground power or communications. This wasn't their fault. I know because I was out there many days with the university physical plant department.

All of the work I've seen them do is terrible. They have done a lot of work on the University of Mississippi campus but most of the projects have been late and of bad quality. Follow up work is awful. They've been at the Inn at Ole Miss since they opened last August (2008) and still has not finished punch lists 6 months later. They are currently way behind schedule on the baseball stadium. The Oxford Courthouse project was full of mistakes and once again behind schedule. They usually blame their subcontractors for errors and problems. During one project they were shut down for using undocumented workers.

i worked for them and everyone one was lazy from the laborers to the superintendents. nothing was organized. i could only work for them for a little while and had to go back on the rode. ive been in construction for years and they acted like i didnt know what i was talking about. i finally had to leave them and go back on the rode to zachry construction corporation. i dont see any of the stuff they build lasts long. if i had hired them it wouldnt take me long to see what a sorry job they do and run them off my property.
