Long story short:

This company is dishonest.

They will provide you with the worst service. They will keep your security deposit regardless of how well you keep up the property you rent. They will lie to you.

I was contacted to confirm my appt. and was told I needed to make a decision where I wanted to live. I told Chris Matthews I was decided. I wanted to see these three properties. He then told me they were on the other side of the world from each other (aprox. 20min-both in Raleigh - 10min to Garner) and that I needed to decide on a town-house or a house and either Raleigh or Garner. He then told me he was not my mother and could not decide for me. As if I have to limit myself to a single area or property type. What a feeble minded individual. I am glad this happened, because from the other reviews I have read after this incident, on merchant circle dot com and yahoo, they seem to make a habit of being rude and are not a quality company.

My mother always told me that the first impression is a lasting impression. I wish I had have kept that in mind when I called Metro Property Mgmt. for the first time. The man that answered the phone was one of the rudest, coldest people I have ever spoken to in my life. I still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was having a bad day. After all he was just one person in the office they couldn't all be that way. Could they?
Against my better judgement, and because I was really interested in the property I set up an appt. to see it. I was informed that Braxton would be showing the property to me and when I asked who exactly he was I was told, "the man with the black truck". Since I am a single woman I would have appreciated a more appropriate answer like - the listing agent, the owner, the maintenance man, etc. I can't just walk up on any man with a black truck by myself.
Braxton. What can I say about Braxton? He is cold, argumentative, uninformative, impersonal - wait where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, my first call to Metro Property Mgmt. He did not introduce himself and he didn't even get out of the car at first. After I had gone through the whole property alone he quietly appeared in one of the rooms I was in. Ladies, that's never a good feeling is it?
Let me talk about the property. Just imagine years of families, students, pets, parties and never cleaning up. Opening the front door you get hit in the face with a horrible stench of urine, mold, and "oldness". I brought this up to Braxton and he didn't even reply. He just stared at me. When I told him that I didn't need to see anything else he rudely said,"I was going to tell you that the place hasn't been cleaned yet". I wanted to scream, "So why are you showing it???!!!" But I knew that it was just time to go.
Since that incident I have tried to tell as many people as I could about Metro Property Mgmt. and my experience with them. I have also gotten some very interesting statements from others who have had an experience with Metro. Not only have they received the same horrible treatment, but I have been told that if you are a minority it is even worse.
I guess what I don't understand is how these companies can treat you the way they do, have dirty, unkempt properties, and still expect for you to rent from them. Meanwhile the owners of these properties are wondering why their homes are still sitting idle.
There is a happy ending to all this. I finally found a rental company that from first phone call to signing the lease was kind, helpful, and just really a joy to do business with. It is a complete 180 degrees from Metro Property Mgmt. I feel blessed to have found it.
I understand that every experience is different. My experience may not be your experience. Just remember to do your homework on whatever company you're interested in renting from, and as I stated earlier, the first impression is a lasting one.

To Metro Property Mgmt.: I pray that you use this review as constructive criticism. In business if a client takes the time to write a review it is because their experience left a lasting impression on them, whether good or bad. I hope that you can learn and grow from my experience with you.

I never write reviews but the actions of this company has me so upset i had to "put it out there".

I've lived in a Metro Property for two years and have had little complaints and ALWAYS paid my rent on time.

The Post office lost my rent check (which is sent, as usual, on the 3rd of the month) They claim they didn't recive it untill the 13th... this resulted in a $40 late charge... OK, i can pay that but what they DIDN'T do was tell me about it... whoops, that means that they got to charge me for another month (now $80). When i went to dispute it, they claimed that they sent the letter (with no proof).
I tried repeatedly to discuss a resolution with them but of course, i didn't hear back from the untill i had racked up a THIRD late fee. ($120 now...)
The owner, Braxton Matthews proceeded to talk to me like i was a 3rd grader and would not negotiate a resolution.
They have also been very slow to fix problems, if ever...
I have read several other reviews where they apparently will do and say anything to keep your deposit... so i'm kissing that $800 goodbye...
Oh, one more thing. I am not the first one they have run the "late fee scam" on. I have talked to others this happened to.
