No thank you. These people are exceptionally rude. Never again. I'd rather pay the money that I'd be "saving" to have an enjoyable experience. Not even that inexpensive.

Wilson found us! When Wilson came to us his previous Momm and Dad had not taken very good care of him. we took him to Stage Rd for a check up just to make sure. We found out he had adult and baby heartworms as well as intestinal worms.

I have always used Stage Road for basic yearly shots for my animals b/c of cost. HOWEVER, I do not use them for emergencies or any problems. A few years ago my cat was having problems (weight loss, vomiting) and I was told by Stage road

I was recently referred to this animal hospital by a close friend. After being nickel and dimed for every visit at Banfield, I felt that their wellness plans did not save me any money because they only found other things to charge me for.

Took pet there to have shots done, folks told me it was a good place to save money. What they meant was it was Cheap! Doc did not look at my pet for one minute, staff was rude, hospital was dirty...
Pay more and go to a real vet!

I like the doctors fine and the prices are good but the office staff could sometimes be better organized and I have had on several occasions a very long wait. They need to schedule better.

I really like the Staff & Dr Mendoza.

They were very kind & worked in my normal 3.4lb chihuahua in 15 min before they were scheduled to close - the staff even stayed an hour after they should have been closed - took an xray & gave an anitibiotic shot. I took him home & he just got worse overnight - he could not even walk so I took him back the next morning & dropped him off for day watch & care...they ran some more bloodwork & could not find anything other than elevated white blood cells - I was advised that he probably needed a cat scan & spinal tap - was told NC State vet school did this - the diagnosis was "over their head". NC State Vet school's beginning price to tell us if they could treat him or not started @ $2300.00.

I took my dog to another vet - he was down to 3lbs they
also did xrays & I was told he had a flair up in his spine - kinda like when a person back goes out - he has an enlarged heart & fluid around it. He was put on pain meds, med to reduce the fluid around his heart, & blood pressure meds.

It has taken him a week to start back walking & eating - now under 3lbs - but my furbaby is on the road to recovery.

I do not have anything bad to say - just make sure if you are dealing with a case that is out of the ordinary -----get a second opinion.

I had previously went to a vet who muzzled my dog and was just horrible. I came to these guys on a referral and was very pleased. I explained they usually muzzled my dog. They were wonderful with him (even though he was high fear) and did everything without a muzzle. Also came for a second opinion. My previous vet told me ( while I was 9 month pregnant) that my dog probably had cancer and went on to tell me a story of how another dog died from this cancer. Luckily a friend referred me to these guys and came to find out, it was just a little infection that needed antibiotics. I have been going for 5 years now and won't change. My whole furry family goes (2 dogs and 2 cats) Just wish they would be mobile so my potbellied pig could see them.

I've been taking my animals to this vet for 10 years now and have never had a problem. They've always been nice and great with animals. their prices are also the best around - even with a 45 minute drive to the vet, they are still cheaper. I have to say that they have recently started nickel and diming their customers - or at least me. I have an 11 year old cat and she has a bit of arthritis. Stage Road gave me metacam to give to her 2 times a week in a very small dose. This helped her tremendously; she's old but she was definitely moving around a lot more. They gave me a small bottle to start and when I ran out of the medicine, I decided to go to PetMeds to order to avoid the almost 1.5 hour round trip to the vet, for a $20 bottle of medicne. PetMeds was $19 + 5 for shipping. Of course PetMeds verifys with your vet that it's ok to order it - when Stage Road called me, they informed me that they charge a $5 processing fee for processing prescriptions. This was crazy. I only wanted a small bottle until I could take my cats for their yearly check up in 3 months and they wanted to charge me $5. When I asked what they had to process and she said it was because they had to take the time to pull the Dr to the side and ask if it's ok. This was the wrong answer. If I run out of my meds and call my doctor to ask them to call in a refill, they do not charge me. So in my opinion Stage Rd is starting to nickel and dime. I even asked if Mendoza would wave the $5 knowing I would be back in there in 3 months for the check up and she said no. Needless to say, I will not have my cats seen by Mendoza again - yes I know it's only $5 but it's the principal. I was very close to changing vets however, I have grown to love the other 2 vets who work there, Hachett and Melocha

I have been using this office for several years now with 3 cats and 1 dog. When we lost one cat to advanced cancer, the office staff and doctor who assisted us were incredibly compassionate and accomodating. We have ALWAYS received prompt and courteous service from the office staff and have never had any doubts as to the quality of care our furry family members have received. This office is also top notch when it comes to treatment costs and will always work with us if we need to pay on a more expensive treatment or investigate less expensive treatment options. I highly recommend Stage Rd. Animal Hospital - try them! You will not regret it!!

I've only used Stage Road for boarding, but we've brought our two dogs there 3 times now. We won't be back. The first two times we picked up our dogs, they were soaked in urine. They smelled horrible. The third time I shelled out the $42 to have them bathed before we picked up. However, when I tried to call to check on them, the line was busy. It was busy for hours!! I finally gave up. Then when I went to pick them up, the lobby was packed with people, and it was 4:30. There were 2 women behind the counter, and they were stressed. They were snapping at people left and right. I said I was there to pick up, and she told me I had to sign in and wait. I explained that I didn't have an appointment, and she said it didn't matter why I was there, I had to sign in. And she wasn't very nice about it. So, I signed in. Immediately after I signed in, a woman stood up and looked at the sign in sheet. She then yelled, "EXCUSE ME!! YOU'VE CROSSED MY NAME OUT AND I'VE BEEN HERE FOR OVER AN HOUR!!!" The whole lobby groaned, and the women behind the counter looked defeated. They took care of her, but it made everyone else in there upset. So, I sit there for 26 minutes before I can get my dogs. During that time, I tried calling them on my cell. It was busy the whole time. Then when I was at the counter, I realized that they had the lines on hold, but there wasn't anyone on the line. They had essentially turned off their phone system. I hope no one had an emergency, cause they weren't answering. I'm not saying it's the fault of those poor women behind the counter. It's management. There needs to be at least 2 more people back there. Maybe one just for the phones. Hire a staff!! Everytime I've been there, it's been bad. This time was horrible. Never again. I hope you can fix them problem because I hate to see businesses fail, but you're going to unless the problem is solved.

Pros: Convienient location for us country folk...

Cons: Short staffed and over worked.

Stage Road is the best animal hospital we've found, and we've tried three others before it. Even though it's more travel for us, we now bring our two German Shepards, our Jack Russell/Rat Terrier (JackRat) mix, and our cats here for all their medical needs. Dr. Mendoza, her colleagues and staff, are all great with animals and their owners alike! We've tried three other hospitals nearer to our home, but this is the one that we pick to care for our animals!

We have 2 min pins. They have both been treated there and one even had a hip surgery. He has recovered wonderfully and has no problems. They are great and very knowledgeable. We have also boarded our pets there as well. We know that they are being well looked after. It is busy there, so be prepared to wait in line or on the phone during busy times. It's well worth it though.

p.s. the guy doctor there reminds me of the doctor on HOUSE. Not always compassionate but he knows what he is doing. And that is worth everything.

User Rating: excellent
We have had a wonderful experience with the entire staff of Stage Road. They have shown us and our pets courtesy and respect at every tuirn of the way. They are a group of knowledgable, caring, compassionate, gentle and - yes, humorous -individuals. We. also, like a previous writer, had a beloved pet die at the hospital during an overnight stay for surgery. Though the death wasn't immediately expected, we knew he had cancer and it was just a matter of time. The vet called us late in the night and broke the news as gently as possible. From her words and her manner, we quickly realized that she too shared our grief and sense of loss. I wouldn't think of taking my pets anywhere else than Stage Road Animal Hospital.

My dogs have been going to Stage Road Hospital for the past 4 years. The staff is always friendly, the vet is wonderful, and the facility is clean. If something minor comes up, they are always happy to speak over the phone. Very honest prices as well. As pet owners know, many vets charge outrageous prices for even simple services - that is not the case at Stage Road.

It is with regret i am informing people of this poor animal care. We have lost a nine month old sheltie and we feel the doctor could have prevented it. Our sheltie might have had a pre existing condition, but they should not have operated on her or at least warned us of a deadly outcome. The doctor never informed us that it was not advisable to do a spay operation until we had her fully checked for warning signs. This poor judgement has cost her life, and for that we will never forget.
