LACIE ******
by Nicole E.
She is a wonderful stylist! I have thick, wavy, and frizzy hair. She dyed and styled my hair to perfection. I absolutely love my new hair style. She did such a wonderful job. I have an easy time doing my hair in the morning and the style she gave me looks good with any type of clothing. I have had so many people compliment me on my new hair style. I have even had some man hit on me. LOL! I have recommended Lacie to all my friends and even strangers that compliment me. She gave me business cards to pass out and I need more. Anyone reading this when you call salon blu you will have to ask for her because they do not have her listed on their website. I am not sure why because to me she is the best stylist around. I will never go to anyone else!

Overpriced and Not Worth It
by Cynthia S.
The first time I visited this salon, I noticed that two women who left within a few minutes of each other (so clearly had different stylists)both had exactly the same haircut. That should have been my first clue. I didn't get the haircut I wanted but went back a second time to give them another try. On the second visit, I still didn't get the haircut I asked for and the price had gone up by about 20%. When I asked why the price had gone up so much, the receptionist said she didn't know and walked off. The salon is seriously overpriced and relies heavily on a flat iron to style virtually every haircut they do. So unless you are willing to spend lots of time styling your own hair, the haircuts they seem to specialize in aren't going to work well for you. I also noticed lots of gossiping about other clients while I was there. I wouldn't go back to this salon.

Jessi is a great colorist!!!
by June Q.
I've been to a lot of salons searching for a good colorist and Jessi fits the bill. My friend recommended Jessi (at Brier Creek) and I was very satisfied. You know when you have found someone that has that natural ability -- and Jessi has it. I'll definitely be back.

Love It!
by r g.
I have been going to Salon Blu for about 3 years now. My stylist is Tara at Falls. She is AWESOME! Very personable and always knows how to make me look good! The prices are expensive, but so worth it to me. I have tried going other people when I couldnt get an appt at Salon Blu soon enough... and was absolutely not satisfied... no one measures up to Salon Blu's standards in my opinion! The salon is always clean, very trendy. I dont trust anyone else!!!!

They're not what they claim
by Nancy S.
I found the staff and stylists hard to swallow. They claimed their high prices were for the professional quality stylists they had. I tend to differ. I had my hair colored there for 6 months. Every time I had an issue with either the color or with the color being left below the hairline. The stylist tried to remove it, but never removed all of it. I never had this problem before or never had to request that the stylist do so. Even after requesting a specific color, many times it turned out too dark. When I had my hair cut, it wasn't cut, but simply clipped and lightly trimmed. Approaching the stylist was a waste of time. She was young, and defensive. Her social skills needed work. If I liked the people more, I probably would have put up with it, but they weren't sincere or professional.

I think they have people with experience but the attitude of the stylist is rude and yes, they talk disrespectfully about customers, they should watch their mouths when we are there. I won't come back!!!

Best hairdressers that I had!!! (Specially Joy Richard)
by Manuela R.
I am Brazilian, and my hair is frizzy, I have TONS of hair and thick! But it didn't stop my hairdresser Joy, she is VERY determined, nice and the greatest in my opinion. I had an appointment once a week because I don't like my hair curly, and she straightened it VERY well, perfectly. The haircolor and haircut are always taken care with special attention, it's always awesome and UNIQUE. When Joy wasn't available (it was rare), I had my hair straightened with Rachael and Dana, both are great too, very talented and nice. The girls on the front desk are the best, Melanie is the most sweet person! I moved to another State last week and I missed Salon Blu already....

Overpriced, Bad experience all around.
by Anonymous
I am more than willing to pay more when the quality of service is good. I went here for color and my hair turned into a frizzy mess. Not only did my stylist leave the color on too long while she worked on other customers but my scalp was burned as well. I asked for blonde highlights and got an ashy colored brown with a big spot in the back that was a different color than the rest. The stylist also spilled bleach on my skirt completely ruining it and only offered me some free shampoo. Ridiculous! To say the least, I will not return.

started blue but it got better

As always with salons of this type, the receptionist was very prety but so very snooty. I don't understand why salon owners do they clients and themselves a deservice of having someone be the face of their bussines who seems as if she could care less weather you spend your money there or not. She was unhappy to be greating customers at the front desk.
On the other hand my hairdresser Lisa at Brier Creek was great. I moved from DC to Raleigh two years back and have been on an up hill battle to find a good hair dresser. Lisa was awesome, she was very friendly, and she took her time listening to my direction. She did a great job and finally I got a haircut that was on par with what I used to get in DC.
Overall it was a positive experience, The salon is very nice and if it wasn't for Lisa with her great work and professional attitude, I would have to say that Salon Blu is just like most others, lots of attitude and no substance.

Great experience
by jfhughes
I visited Salon Blu's Brier Creek location today on a whim. I was in the area, and needed a haircut, and had heard some good things about it. I called them, and they were able to give me an appointment with Felicity immediately. Felicity was very sweet, and did a great job on my cut. She gave a wonderful, relaxing shampoo scalp massage, took her time with the cut, and then blew it out, as well as flat ironed it, which was a treat. Cost was $45, and I found that very reasonable.
I will definitely return, and would highly recommend Felicity.
Pros: Walk-in appointment, friendly stylist
Cons: none that I can think of

I adore this place!
by SLW1983
I have been seeing Casey at the Falls location for almost 4 years now and as long as she is there, I will never let anyone else touch my hair! The first time I sat in her chair I had an awful, long, plain hairstyle that some clueless stylist had given me at another salon. Casey has given me exactly what I wanted each time. I usually don't do anything different and she is fine with doing exactly what I want. Stylists at Salon Blu do NOT give everyone the same cut and they don't want everyone to "look like them" - as long as you communicate exactly what you want and don't want then they are happy to give it to you and make you look amazing.
Pros: Friendly desk staff, and my stylist is phenomenal!

Pros: Able to follow directions

Thea does AMAZING highlights
by KS1982
Even though I had to drive almost 30 minutes, I took a friend's suggestion to let Thea highlight and color my hair.
She was great. She asked what I was looking for and we talked about what I could expect (given the terrible color I had gotten from my last stylist).
I love my color and the cut is great too!. If you are looking for someone with just enough 'edge' she's the one to go to!
Pros: Great highlights, not too expensive
Cons: a bit far from my home in Durham

by CSMobileUser2
Tracey at the Brier Creek location is awesome. I attempted to put in a take home haircolor and just about destroyed my hair. When I went to her, she knew exactly how to fix my hair and gave me the best color and haircut ever. She also gave me a treatment that left my hair soft and shiny. I am very happy with the results and I will definetly be back to Salon Blu to see her. Thank you Tracey

The greatest salon in Raleigh
by superawesomefabulous
Salon Blu is seriously the greatest salon in Raleigh, I tried two others when I moved here and Salon Blu is the greatest. I moved here from NYC, so I was used to upscale salons, and Salon Blu is worth the money. Casey and Rachael B. have done my hair and they were amazing. They listened to all of my needs and they used their creative eye to take my hair to a new level. I have never been so pleased. My roommate also gets her hair done at the salon and she went from dark brown to platinum blonde and it looks great. They can give you a classic cut or an edgy punk rock cut. But no matter what, it's great! right on Salon Blu!
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing

Worth every penny!!!
by ehunter4
I have to say I'm a little disappointed to see some of the negative comments on here about Salon Blu in Brier Creek. I have been going to Amanda for almost 2 years and I have NEVER had a bad experience. She is professional, friendly, and does amazing things with color. I get more compliments on my hair than I ever have with any other stylist and I'm always quick to refer people to Amanda. Somehow she manages to make my hair look awesome and color it exactly how I want it done, even when I'm not sure what I want! She is talented, quick, and knows what she's doing. I have never had a bad experience with any of the other staff there either. I have taken my 14 year old Stepson there on 2 occassions and he's been pleased with the outcome as well. He lives in Texas and will only get his hair cut at Salon Blu when he's in Raleigh. It says a lot about a stylist if they can please a picky 14 year old boy! I would highly recommend this salon to everyone. The people who have had bad experiences and negative comments need to realize that not everyone is perfect, there is always some margin for error in everything you do and the staff at Salon Blu would never intentionally give a bad cut or color to anyone! Thank you to the staff at Salon Blu for the great job you do!
Pros: Talented stylists, great location
Cons: None!!

Good hair style, but unprofessional sylist.
by Janedoeraleigh
I am very pleased with my haircut that I recieved by a stylist at the Falls Village location. However I have a problem with her professionalism. She uses foul language when ever i am in her chair and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. Just about every other word out of her mouth is a cuss word. She also shares a great deal of personal information and talks negitively about her co-workers. This is not exactly what I would expect from one of the top salons in the area. I don't want to use the stylists name, but I hope that the owner of the salon can figure out who I am talking about.
Cons: Unprofessional

Fabulous Stylist, Fabulous Owner and Fabulous Staff
by channjakesmom
Good for you Jennifer- I am glad to see a business owner taking up for herself. Dont worry honey, you are doing something right...people who know you and your Salon know that it is top notch. I have gone to Salon Blu for 2 years now. Lauren is my stylist and I love her to pieces. This last trip in, she gave me the trendiest cut I have had in years along with fabulous color. She also did my 4 year old daughters hair. My little girl felt and looked like a princess when we left. If you are looking for personlity, style, and class, Salon Blu is the best place to go!

Got the best hair color and cut!
by lenlen
I am a regular customer at Salon Blu Brier Creek. I recently came back from an overseas trip and have to go to Salon Blu to have my hair done (and fixed). I called Salon Blu and learned that my usual hairstylist is on vacation. So I asked the receptionist to recommend someone who would do good on colors as I am already tired of my highlighted, high-maintenanced hair. He recommended Jessica. I initially just wanted to have my hair re-colored to my natural color but then as I was consulting with her, I asked her if she can also give me a haircut. My recent haircut was a bad one. During my vacation/trip, I decided to get a haircut in my country as it is really cheap to get one there. Yeah, right! It was cheap alright and my hair just looked so cheap and chopped, too! It looked awful! I've always had layered hair and I know when the cut of the layers is good or bad. This one was really bad!! And so, rush to Salon Blu for a hair fix.... When Jessica finished my color and cut, I went out of that salon so happy that Jessica was recommended to me. I even got my first compliment from another customer while I was paying. She told her husband seated beside her that I have a beautiful hair. Thank you, Jessica! I think I will have her do my hair from now on :-)
Pros: Nice, friendly hairstylists; salon ambience; good service

Very disappointed
by Alana21
Went to the Alexander Place branch of Salon Blu after seeing notice of awards, etc. I guess I should have done more homework on a particular stylist to request but for some reason was under the impression that only very good and experienced stylists worked there. What I got was an embarrassment. I am not vain or all into my hair but after coming out looking much worse than going in I am literally embarrassed to be in family photographs over the holidays. What I wanted was a sophisticated, modern look. What I got was hick-town hair-band wannabe circa 1985. Scrunching and pointy "wings," anyone? Upon getting home my husband actually said, "What the hell?!" Not the reaction one would want! I do not enjoy giving such a harsh review, and I will say many of the employees there had cute, updated looks, but it will be daily ponytails for me until I can afford to get it fixed ... somewhere else.

Best salon-unique and stylish
by jenniferckirby
I've lived all of the US and have been to many salons but none compare to Salon Blu. I typically see Rachel B. She is wonderful-great stylist and a great person. Jess straightened my super curly hair and did a great job and Tisch fixed my hair for me after I put a straightener on it myself (yikes). They are the best ever.
Pros: Awesome girls-talented stylists

I was referred to Jesse by one of my best friends, and could not have been happier. She took her time with my cut and color and my hair looks the best that it has ever looked (IT REALLY DOES). I am so glad to find a young, hip stylist that truely understood what I wanted. Jesse...You are awesome girl! Thanks for the time that you put into my hair on Monday! I love it and can't wait to come back next month.
Pros: Jesse is the best! She is adorable and knows what she is doing!

by kahred10
Jessie is the bomb! I am totally one of those people that did the great clips thing for a long time and then realized that one length is not the way to go. Jessie listened and gave me a cut that was EXACTLY what I wanted. She read my kind of adventerous and then conservative side and gave me an awesome cut. I will go back to her for a long time because she is funky and fun but knows exactly how to make you feel comfortable and she plays up your personal style. Salon Blu is trendy and great but they totally make you feel welcome and are excited to give you whatever you want. I would totally suggest Jessie and Salon Blu to anyone.

Casey at Salon Blu!!
by starlite1
I just moved to Raleigh, and I called in to make an appointment at Salon Blu. When I asked to see someone with more experience, they actually gave me an amazing stylist! The girl I had was named Casey, and she was the best. I was nervous because I have been with the same stylist for about 10 years, but the outcome of my hair put me at ease. I feel so relieved because I felt like Casey was listening to what I wanted, and she actually taught me some styling tips. We had a blast on my first visit, and there will be many more. Moving is stressful enough without having to worry about your hair, but I found a great salon and an amazingly talented young woman. I must add that her trainee was extremely sweet and helpful as well.
Pros: helpful front desk staff, great decor inside...very trendy!

"The Hair Doctor"
by BrynR
Jessica at Salon Blu on Falls saved my poor sick hair, which is why I call her the 'Hair Doctor'. I had gone to another stylist at a different salon who did a horrible job and was almost in tears. I drove half a mile down the road to Salon Blu and they were able to squeeze me in that same day with the lovely Jessica. I had about 3 different hair cuts in mind and she was able to translate all three into a wonderful haircut that I get compliments on ALL the time. I can't say enough about how pleased I was with her work. I am moving to Japan and intend on planning my trips back for when I need a trim, she's that good ;-)
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Best Stylist EVER---MATT!
by raleighgrl73
So I've been seeing Matt for over a year now and I just had to brag on him finally. Matt is incredible--always listens to my concerns, then gives a creative answer that totally suits my personality and hairstyle. He's constantly updating my look! He's very easy to talk to and very honest, but not in a way that hurts your feelings. His colors always look beautiful and the haircut does great every time I go home. He doesn't use those thinning scissors, so my hair never gets frizzy or too thin looking. He just has an amazing way with hair. He stays so booked up now I always have to make my appointments before I even leave! Go see Matt, but call way ahead of time!
Pros: MATT!! Service, color, cut.
Cons: Always stays so booked.

Problems
by usedtobeastylist
If you want a hack and slash hair cut, go to this place. There was a large section on my head that hadn't been cut, but I didn't discover it until I tried to style it later. Parts of the hairstyle stood up (where thinning shears were used) and other parts were flat (where the stylist--and I use that word lightly) where she apparently didn't thin as much. I fixed it, since I was a hair stylist years ago and learned that you never go back to a place that screwed it up the first time. They'll just screw it up again.
It's funny that everyone at the salon looks the same and they give the same hair cuts. I waited for a friend outside of the salon one day and I was early so I was able to see five people leave the salon. They all had the same look....short and punked-out/standing straight up in the back and top...short sides...lots of thinning shear butchery. My friend loves the place 'cause she likes a punked-out hot mess on her head that she feels is eclectic. If you're over thirty, I wouldn't recommend this place.
And as a hairstylist years ago, I know a little something about hair styling. These individuals don't have their foundational cutting skills down solid. Call me old fashioned, but some things will never change with hair styling and the foundational cut is one of them. These stylists seem to be focusing on trying to do advanced cutting techniques that are popular today, but they don't have the basic skills practiced enough. And you know what happens when your foundation is weak...the hairstyle collapses.
I will never go back.
Pros: The "mother ship" of punked out, thinning-sheared hair
Cons: they miss swatches of your hair, foundational skills lacking

Bad hair day!
by 2nice
Not Recommended. I had a similar experience to the person whose hair looked black. My hair also looked black. The hairdresser obviously doesn't have enough experience to be using permanent color without a big warning that it will be an extensive process to reverse the color. I had 2 different salons say the color wasn't right for my skin tone. The cut wasn't so great either. She used thinning shears on the ends of my hair. This may work on some hair, not on mine. The good stylists at this salon also tend to charge around $60 or more for a cut.
Pros: There are a few decent stylists there.
Cons: Some stylists have no clue how to color/cut hair

So not good
by lauren00123
So I boxed dyed my hair months ago and went in to have it put back to its
original color, a medium brown. My hair was only had to go a few shades
lighter that its natural color, it wasn?t hard to do. I walked out with
black hair, I have the drivers license picture to prove it. After washing
like 10 times with clarifying shampoo it was still way to dark. So I
attempted to contact the manager, but the rude receptionist wouldn?t let
me talk to one. I ended up going back in to have it fixed, a which point
the stylist told me my hair was not black it was ?dark brown?. My same
stylist was to busy to blowdry it, so when I got home and got it all
dried I realized that I had about 4 different colors in my hair. Some
parts were still black, and others were like a brown/red. Not good, it
took about 3 weeks for it to fade to a similar all over color. Now I have
my roots coming in, which are no where close to the color they turned my
hair. I understand that it is difficult to get hair the exact right color,
but neither time was it even close, she didn?t even use color swatches.
The second time I came in she didn?t even as me to pick out what color my
hair naturally was. She said she knew what to do...obviously not.
Pros: Nice Stylists
Cons: Over prices, low skill level

I would not even give this place 1 star
by cat101
Do NOT get your hair done here!! I had my hair cut there, only $35....the girl has brown hair and her station is to the left when you walk in. Do NOT, and I repeat do not let her do your hair. She has NO clue what she is doing. My hair was long, to the middle of my back and all I wanted was a trim and to thin it out a little. Well she chops it 2 inches, cuts my bangs so they are in the middle of my forehead after I told her dont touch my bangs, and butchered the back of my hair when thinning it out. I have to go back the next day and they ended up having to cut 7 inches off and that didn't even make it look any better. I cried for 3 days straight. I wll take me a year to fix what they have done. Then I said well I'd like my money back and they said no. So I said I would like to get my new few haircuts for free because I'm going to have to keep getting it cut a lot to get this fixed...and they had the nerve to say..."Well when you came back in to get it fixed, that was your free haircut"

Finally a hair stylist that listens
by jenhunter
I have always wanted long, thick hair. I decided to make an appointment with Maggie at Salon Blu in Brier Creek for a hair extension consultation. Maggie was very professional and explained the process well.
I have a friend that has hair extensions by Maggie and they look beautiful all the time. After seeing her look so great in any kind of weather I decided to try this for myself. This was a great decision. My hair looks amazing. Maggie is an artist! She made my hair extensions look so natural and they blend in perfectly with my own hair. It is like having movie star hair. The only problem is that I never want to have them taken out. If you are thinking about hair extensions, you need to visit Maggie! Jennifer

Experience at Salon Blu the Best By Far

I've been to salons all over Raleigh and my experiences at Salon Blu have been the best by far. My stylist keeps up with the latest trends and is always flexible. Some services are very expensive but my stylist has found ways of achieving a similar result with a less pricey technique. I've been with my stylist for 2 years now and she's been great. I also like the customer reward system for buying products. Every so often, I have collected enough rewards to get a free bottle of shampoo or styling product.

Great Stylist - Falls Location
by vans3crown
Lauren has been wonderful. She cuts and colors my hair. Both of my sisters who live out of state loved my hair. One of them has started driving to Raleigh from the D.C. area to have Lauren cut her hair as well. The other has considered doing so as well.
Lauren has a great personality, and she is very flexible -- she often takes me on short notice. I have been very happy with the service she provides.
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff
Cons: None

Loved my experience!
by leapmall
I visited Salon Blu about a week before Christmas and I loved every minute of it!! Jerielle was my color/stylist and she was wonderful. Everyone I came in contact with was very professional, friendly and fun to be around. I had a great cut which has been easy to care for and style. As for my color- I have been told MANY times that it has taken 10 years off my appearance. Jerielle gave me several useful tips for keeping my cut manageable and great looking. I'm looking forward to going back in a few weeks for a color touchup, and maybe a bangs trim. I'm not sure I can afford Jerielle everytime, but I will definately be back for another cut...I loved this one!!
I also got my eyebrows waxed and makeup done. I'm sorry to say I can't remember the name of the young lady who did my makeup, but I really enjoyed it. I was really amazed at how much difference the eyebrow waxing made!! The makeup was great too, and I plan to return to purchase some of their cosmetics.
Pros: Professional atmosphere, relaxed surroundings, lots of services to offer.
Cons: May get expensive in the future, but I love the results!

Amazing!!!
by lecaves
I went to Salon Blu for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I wanted a completely new look. I went in with a couple of pictures and Alan helped me come up with a style. I told him that I wanted new color, but told him to pick the colors based on his experience and what would look best with my skin tones. I could not be happier with the result. They style is amazing and the color is fantastic. I have never had so many compliments on my hair!!! If you are interested in a new look, go see Alan at Briar Creek . You won't be sorry!!!
Pros: The people are great! They do a fantastic job!
Cons: None!

80's mullet
by kellygb
I decided to try a new, recommended hair salon closer to home. Bad idea. While the hairdresser was very friendly, I don't think she listened to anything I said as far as how I wanted my hair colored or cut. I asked for: highlights and lowlights to match what was on most of my hair, 1 inch off with long layers and it must go into a ponytail for work. What I got: an 80's mullette...1 inch off the bottom, not even at that, and random layers so short they didn't fit into a ponytail holder for 4 weeks. To top that off I got chunky hair color with brown roots where she tried to color the sides (to cover early gray) after the initial color. My husband put it best...it looked better before you went and it looks like you haven't colored it in a few months. When I explained my displeasure, she proceeded to tell me what I owed. In shock, I hesitantly payed. I called back the next day and the owner gladly refunded my money....too bad she couldn't fix my hair. If you are looking for a different look or a punk rock look, this is your place. If you want what you ask for, I highly recommend Michelle and Douglas Carroll....she fixed my color beautifully 2 days later!
Pros: cool atmosphere, nice people
Cons: bad service
