I have been with Snappy Lube for years and never had a problem. They have made suggestions of optional repairs as do other places, and of course it is my choice as to fix it or just let my car go. Some of the other reviews sounds hard to believe, like being rude over a misplaced reg. card, when you are fixing to get a new one anyway, or having to replace a motor because of a drain plug. I mean come on, sounds fishy to me. Hats off to any business that has to put up with people like that. Thanks for the years of great service, and thanks for lowering your prices as well.

I took my BMW to Snappy Lube. They used an air tool to take out my drain plug. They then stripped the drain plug when they put it back in. Then after arguing with them they said the plug was stripped when car came in. They had to pay for new engine. At first they tried to give me a salvage yard engine with almost 200,000 miles. My car only had 23,000 miles. They finally put a new one in after my lawyer called.

My daughter attends WCU and needed to get her oil changed and anti freeze checked. The attendant also said she needed to flush her power drive fluid. She was quoted, as was I, $209 for the three jobs. When he was completed the total was $250, a $41 over charge. He lied to both my daughter and myself. There must be an honest mechanic in Sylva these people are not. Buyer beware.

It is actually very funny that this place calls itself "Snappy." After waiting for 2 hours -- only second in line the entire time and not moving at all, I asked how much longer it would be. After a sad story about how difficult it is to change a filter in a car (isn't that their job), and that he had no idea how much longer it would be, I had to leave to get back to work. After I got home, I saw a sheet in my car where they had "worked up" a pile of ridiculous suggestions. For starters, they were planning on doing a $56.99 service, when I had asked for a basic oil change. I'm sure glad I left before they swindled me!!! They had also recommended a ton of things that I did not need. When I stepped inside, the other customers were making the same complaints. The sign clearly stated that their service was under $40, but they were telling an elderly woman that she should have synthetic oil for $90 -- which she didn't want. Then they told her they'd stay with the $56.99 service, and she had no idea how it had gotten that high. This place is SLOW, RUDE, tries to charge for things you don't want, and on top of that, tries to swindle the elderly. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. The funniest part is that I've been there before and knew better. Last time I was there, they accidentally drained my transmission fluid instead of my oil... so they replaced the transmission fuel for free. BUT HOW CAN THEY NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. If you are from Sylva, use a local mechanic or drive to Franklin or Waynesville. Snappy is AWFUL.

What I like about Grease Monkey is that they do not require an appointment. You can stop by anytime to have typical maintance (fluid changes) done on your car. The service is very fast, and I've found that their prices are reasonable. Every now and then they'll put coupons in the newspaper which make the prices even better. The only drawback is that Grease Monkey is always crowded on Friday afternoons, so I'd pick another day of the week to go if your car needs anything!

The mechanics at the Grease Monkey are very helpful and very friendly. And best of all they don't recommend service that isn't needed like some other companies in the area. I even received a free oil change there, because when I got the full service package (changing the transmission fluid, etc) I didn't need my oil changed so they gave me a card to get a free one the next time I came in plus the cost of the oil and filter, but when I went in they didn't charge me for anything. Now that's great service.
