I chose this practice as they had a midwife on staff. I thought that maybe that meant the entire practice had an evidence based philosophy. However, I discovered that the doctors were just as indoctrinated in tradition as any others I've seen. However, that's too be expected in most clinics in most areas. My main concern is they don't allow children over 10 weeks to accompany mother to her doctor's appointment. Considering I was there for more than 3 hours if I had a breastfed infant at the time not only would I have had a miserable, hungry baby at home, but I would have been in excruciating pain. At 10 weeks a baby should be exclusively breastfed (if mother has chosen to breastfeed) and shouldn't be forced to pump and give a bottle for the physician's sake. It's healthier for both parties to remain together and one would expect a doctor's office to not only be aware, but be supportive of the breastfeeding relationship.
