Dr. Wilson/Bayleaf Highly Recommended

by Shonna F.

We started taking our two Labs to Bayleaf on a recommendation from a few co-workers. One of our dogs was having problems with her knee and the vet we were using kept telling us that it was just a sprain. After a week we decided to get a second opinion. This was the first time we met Dr. Wilson. He came into the exam room, made all the introductions, and started to examine our dog. Immediately he found the problem - a Patella Luxation. Dr. Wilson was very straight forward with us on what exactly happened to her knee, what needed to be done to correct the problem, how much it was going to cost, and what we could expect after surgery was completed. It has been a year and a half since the surgery and our little girl is doing wonderfully. My husband and I were very surprised at the amount of time Dr. Wilson took with us to answer all of our questions and go over all the nuts and bolts. This is way out of the norm with other vets we have been to. The staff at Bayleaf is very professional, their costs are competitive, and they know their stuff. I would highly recommend Dr. Wilson, Bayleaf Vet Hospital and their staff.

Great!

by Laura A.

We have a timid dog and I have been thrilled at how she has been treated. At another vet in Raleigh, she was dragged around the exam room and wrestled with. I just love that they give her time and respect her. She always gets lots of petting and treats. They have been really wonderful with her and fitting us in as needed. We have moved to Knightdale, but continue to use Bayleaf. With the experiences that we have had, I would NEVER go anywhere else.

Wouldn't Go Anywhere Else...

by Pam W.

I can only say great things about Bayleaf Veterinary Hospital. Every Doctor that I have seen, every Tech, and the front office staff have all been wonderful. I have been going there for years....and I have been there a lot with my two dogs and two cats. Dr. Wilson has been more than generous with his time and patience with me. Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Ferguson have also been very kind and patient. The great thing about them is that not only are they knowledgeable but they really do care. I started going to them years ago because I was going to a large practice nearby and I felt that every time I took a pet in they wanted to do more and more "routine" services and the bills got higher and higher to the point of ridiculous. Bayleaf does not do that. With Bayleaf I feel that they do what should be done and no sneaky extras. My sister in law and my father in law take their pets there now as well and they have been extremely satisfied. I can't imagine going anywhere else. They are the best.

STAY AWAY!!!

by Dog L.

I can describe these people in one word..HORRIBLE! No personality, the only time they perk up is when they collect your money. I am utterly speechless about the non stop rudeness that every employee shines in. You definatley do not get what you pay for here. They do not even deserve a star. Horrible service, horrible facility, horrible people.

We've been to many vets in this area and Bayleaf overall is the best

by Spiro A.

We have had long stays with Park Vet (Durham), Bowman (N. Raleigh), and Magnolia (N. Raleigh) in the past. Those three weren't completely horrible, but they were very deficient in at least one of what I deem to be key areas: vet/staff competency, pricing, and vet/staff professionalism, and cleanliness.. Contrary to the few negative reviews posted, our experience at Bayleaf has been very good. The vets care and are competent, the staff is - if not overly friendly - competent, the prices are reasonable, and the office is clean. We have had no scams or misdiagnoses. One of our dogs has many medical issues and Bayleaf has corrected past misdiagnoses from other vets and has provided great care. We have had to go there late in the evening and have gotten great care and accurate diagnosis. Overall, we highly recommend Bayleaf.

Scammed!!!

by Vivian H.

I went to Bayleaf by recommedation from a listing I posted on Craigslist.I took my pet in for a first visit,he needed a rabies shot and his next distemper shot as well. The doc I saw told me she didn't want to give him both shots because she was worried about how he would react,so I was charged $87 for a rabies shot a toenail clipping,a fecal exam, overall exam and an rx for Heartgard. She told me I could bring him back in a few days and she would give him the distemper shot.I not knowing the business said ok.A few days later I called back to make an appt. for the distemper shot thinking it would be $18-25,Oh NO. $48.Because he had to be re-examined.It had been 5 days.I told them I would not be back and I'm gladly posting this BAD review for everyone to see, so maybe someone else won't be scammed like I was.My daughter has the same type of puppy and took her dog to the vet and he actually had 3 shots in 1 visit. So the doc that saw my puppy knew when she suggested the broken up visits, was so she could make more money off of me.Well she didn't,and she lost a customer at the same time. And hopefully because of this posting they will lose more business!

Misdiagnosis of cancer

by Eric C.

Bayleaf has been a complete disappointment. Beyond a lack of professionalism, they have shown no care for my 6 month old choc. lab. puppy. My dog was misdiagnosed for 4 months as what they called a "common wart" in his mouth, which ended up being a highly cancerous cyst and resulted in him loosing 4 adult teeth including his bottom canine. The doctors repeatedly told me that it was nothing to worry about. After the surgery, I've left various messages for Dr. Sullivan who performed the surgery, and he refuses to call me back. Do not take your pet to these people.

I trust them with my pets

by Claudia d.

I have been going to Bayleaf Veterinary Hospital for probably 20 years now. When I moved to Raleigh from Durham, I went to 3 other practices before I found Dr. Craig Wilson. After I met Dr. Wilson, I was sold on moving my pets to Bayleaf Veterinary. There were many things about him - his professionalism, knowledge, ability to explain things in layman's terms, willingness to take the time to address my issues, and his calm and friendly demeanor to name a few. And his staff deliver their services with the same professionalism.

I've called the emergency number a couple of times over the years and got a quick and helpful response.

If I had a complaint with Bayleaf, it would be that I don't get to see Dr. Wilson often enough! But I am satisfied with all of his staff.

Excellent staff

by Deborah D.

I moved to the area and checked out the reviews on this website. I decided to take my 3 dogs there in February for their checkups. The staff were wonderful and the doctor was great. Everyone really seemed to care.
Just this week, my aging Golden Retriever gave me a fright because I could not get her to stand up. She also had a swelling on her ear.
I panicked and called the answer service. The doctor called me back within 5-10 minutes and was so helpful. He told me how to handle things and what I could give her from my own medicine cabinet.
She is doing better now and it was so nice to have a professional at the end of the line who didn't seem to want to get off the phone quickly. Good job.!

Fabulous!!!

by anne h.

We recently took our beloved Golden Retriever of 14 years to be put to sleep due to a recent paralysis. Bayleaf handled it beautifully and even sent us a sympathy card the next day. They are truly in business because they love animals. The prices are very competitive and the staff are all professional!!!

Bayleaf is fantastic

by Tracie F.

We recently had a dog losing weight and lacking appetite so we called on Friday to schedule an exam for Monday. Instead, they got us in that day and worked past closing time to take care of her immediately. She needed surgery so they shuffled their surgery schedule around to get her in first thing.

I have been taking my cats and dogs to Bayleaf for several years in addition to rescue dogs we take there. I've had 2 dogs need surgery as well as emergency needs for 1 dog. Dr. Wilson, Dr. Ferguson and Dr. Kolstad have always been absolutely wonderful. They make recommendations that ensure quality care for my pets while keeping the costs affordable. The front office staff always manage to get us in when we call.

Their building isn't brand new so I didn't give it the 5th star (noted as World Class) but it is clean, comfortable, and completely functional. There are a couple of clinics in the area that have very modern buildings (and you can tell from their prices) but I don't want to pay for someone's cathedral ceiling when I go to the vet. I want to pay for quality care from conscientious vets and you get that from Bayleaf, without question.

It's also worth noting that I manage a specialty veterinary clinic that doesn't cover a lot of general needs so I have a different expectation than most pet owners. I know how hard it is to find great vets and clinic staff but Dr. Wilson has done it.

Best Practice Around

by Anonymous

I have taken my animals to Bayleaf for over 15 years. They are not close to my home but they are worth every trip. I can not say enough good things about the staff, the doctors care or the cost. I am always pleased with both. I trust each and every one of them with my beloved dog (now gone) and 6 cats. A wonderful atmosphere, reasonable prices and great doctors!

Would strongly recommend over any other vet in the area

by Dave K.

My family has also been taking our 4 pets to Bayleaf and Dr. Wilson for over 15 years... Dr. Wilson is a man of high integrity and I would recommend them over ANY of the other Vet's in the area hands down. One example was when we had to put down our first cat, they did it with care and actually sent a flower to our house the next day. To me, the care and treatment of the animals from their staff echos the words of the first reviewer but from a different perspective... yes, you do get what you pay for at Bayleaf... high quality veterinary care, caring support employees and a place that you can trust has the best in mind for your pets and family.

Frequent Visitor

by Kristen B.

I completely disagree with the first posting. We have been a loyal customer of Dr. Wilson and Bayleaf for over a decade. They treat all 5 of our pets and have always been extremely kind and professional. As a frequent customer I can advise that our vet bills are always very competitive and they have been flexible with the payment plans, if needed. Additionally, it is probably worth mentioning that we now reside over 30 minutes away from this vet and have tried our local vets closer to home...but are not nearly as satisfied...so we continue to drive back for the professional and courteous care that Dr. Wilson and his staff provide.

Is the first review correct?

by Craig W.

Bayleaf Veterinary Hospital has very competitive prices on all services and we strive for great service. The web entry has a URL link to another vet hospital. This may be creating some confusion. The host has been contacted, but has not corrected the error. The website for Bayleaf is www.Bayleaf.vetsuite.com

pretty good

by Chrissy F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 556

They are pretty, not the best, but ok, Frist thier prices are Very high for boarding animals, and they are a little pushy, they also seem run down as far as taking care of animals go, Put the doctors are really sweet, and the animals there are very sweet as well, good location just need to be a little more happy and the prices as far as gettting things done are also high but with the location and all the doct experince there, i guess you get what you pay for ,
