Love it!

by Carrie H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,682

I tend to jump around when it comes to stylists and since moving here 3 years ago I have prob seen at least 5... I will be staying with Savvy from now on, not only is their service top notch without high prices but I love the fact that they are a teaching salon so they never stop their education. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I don't feel as if I am being "watched" by everyone there, everyone is very friendly.

Different Approach

by Anna S. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,113

This salon has a different approach. The salon's owner lets you know when she cuts your hair that her stylists don't mind if you switch stylists each time you come. You don't have to stay the same stylist.

Consistently awesome

by BonnieBew

I've been a client of Savvy Salon and Day Spa for 8 years and regularly use their color, cut and facial care services as well as the spa for "treat" nail and massage services. Over time I've moved to South Charlotte, making Savvy a bit of a drive, but it's worth it. I have complete confidence that I will look better and feel better after a day being pampered at Savvy.

Pros: Services, Professionalism, Knowledge and Talent

First Rate Stylists

by barbarag54

After moving to the Lake from the NYC area, one of my biggest fears was finding the right stylist and colorist. I happened to get a coupon in a Welcome Wagon basket and decided to go for a free styling with a master stylist. I was really pleased, however I found out that the price for the stylingwould have been $60, which is way too high. I then decided to go with an understudy ($20) and that's including a cut and have been extremely happy with the results. I usually alternate between 2 understudies and occasionally try a higher level stylist when I need a cut or can't get an understudy. I can honestly say that 100% of the time, my hair looks great and I've been going about every 4th day. (My hair is kind of coarse and I always need the flatiron)The understudies are fine with my color (one process, no highlights or lowlights) and are extremely concerned about my happiness. As stated before, the staff is very curteous and friendly and if I'm kept waiting for more than 10 minutes, another stylist does the wash with sincere apologies for the wait.

Top Lake Norman Salon and Spa--The Best

by SW1963

I have been a satisfied client of Savvy Salon for over 10 years during which time I've experience nothing but top notch service. The staff is well-trained, friendly and accommodating. The front desk employees often refer to me by name as I enter, which is always a nice personal touch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and upscale without being ?stuffy? and overly pretentious. I have nothing but the highest praise for the nail technician and hair stylist I see on a regular basis. Both are professional, highly skilled, and very personable and I am always satisfied with the results. Although I've had less interaction with the spa staff, my experiences there have been very positive and a recent visit to the aesthetician left me wanting to come back again. She was delightful. The owner has developed Savvy from a small hair salon with two nail technicians when I first became a client, to the very successful spa it is today. She provides her staff with on-going professional training and other benefits and incentives that has allowed her to retain the most highly skilled staff. I recommend Savvy without reservation to new residents or anyone looking for a salon or spa in the LKN area. I feel certain you won't be disappointed.

FIRST TIME/FOREVER CUSTOMER

by suzzq

Moving from New York to North Carolina in June 2008 was a BIG change. I was terriffied to have anyone touch my hair. Having the same person cut/style/color my hair for the past 20 years - I was quite nervous. So, going 5 months with bad hair, North Carolina sun damage and plenty of pony tail days, my daughter and I decided it was time - not to fly back to New York for an emergency hair overhaul, but to try a recommended salon. We arrived and EVERYONE was so friendly and sincere. They made us feel like we have been going to Savvy for years. The stylist looked over my hair, asked what I was wanting to achieve and discussed everything she was going to do. Gave an amazing hair wash and scalp massage. She explained simple solutions to make my hair look healthier, explained every detail along the way, even down to how to properly blowdry it. I was totally impressed. The BEST part of all: My fabulous new hair style. My hair NEVER looked so shiny, healthy and felt this soft! I LOVE IT. Since having my hair cut, I haven't worn a ponytail since. Anyone that I have seen, and saw my old hair, can't get over how great it looks. I left Savvy feeling wonderful. Like a new person. The first day, I couldn't stop brushing it and checking myself out in the mirror. After getting up from the stylists chair, my 12 year old daughter was like WOW. Now she wanted her hair cut too. She loves her hair just as much. The big test was the next day when WE had to wash and style it. We are happy to report - there haven't been any bad hair days yet. I even bought some hair products that were used on my hair that day. The girls up at the check-out counter explained all, in detail - Loving them....Not missing the New York salon anymore. They gave us a wonderful tour and explained every detail of the salon. I was so impressed. I am returning for other services and I can't wait. I found what I was looking for and I'm NEVER leaving. Thank you, Savvy.

Pros: friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, not rushed, great service

Cons: NONE

First Time - Come On In

by Shenley55

I am definately not your average spa goer and by far had no expectations to look foward to. However, after being in Savvy's atmosphere for 5 minutes or less, I knew it was a wonderful place to be! It was my first experience and will always be my spa of choice! The young lady completing my facial took care of me and explained the process beforehand to comfort me. Going the extra mile must be a common thing for this spa.

Pros: Staff , Atmosphere

Cons: Location

Best Salon/Day Spa in Lake Norman

by tw1442

I've been to a variety of different salons and day spas and Savvy is by far the best I've experienced. The staff is always very friendly and professional. I've had several different spa treatments-facials, body wraps and massages, manicures, pedicures-and I always come back for more! I've also had my hair cut and colored and have been very pleased with the results. The stylists always listen very carefully and do their utmost to accomplish my every goal. As many salon/day spas as there are in Lake Norman, Savvy really stands out for it's excellence.

Pros: professionalism, courtesy, skilled staff

Cons: can't always get in for a last minute service

Best Salon in Lake Norman!

by sp13

I have been a Savvy customer for over 5 years and I am very particular. I have always been overly pleased with the friendliness of the employess as well as the professionalism shown each and every time I go in to get one of the many services they provide. Their facials are the fantastic, very relaxing and make me want to continue going in for more! The knowledge of the staff goes beyond what I expected and I am highly confident in what they do. The massages are the best and when I go in for my bi-weekly nail fill-ins, I can always expect to leave with a job beautifully done. Let's not forget the pedicures - whether it's for a full spa pedicure or express pedicure, the choice is yours - I always leave with gorgeous looking feet!! We all want to feel like we have gotten our money's worth when we leave a salon and I can assure you that when you go to Savvy you will be very pleased with the outcome. I'm a very happy customer and I know you will be too if you go here. They are definitely the best salon!

Pros: fantastic service

5 Star Staff & Services

by NCBizWoman

I've been a happy Savvy client for over twelve years. Believe me, I'm picky and not a creature of habit. I wouldn't still be going there after all this time if I wasn't entirely satisfied with the high level of service and innovative body treatments. There is always something new to pamper yourself with at Savvy. Because I travel frequently and have opportunities to visit other spas when I'm on the road, I can compare Savvy's services with those found at in Arizona, LA or NYC, and Savvy definitely measures up and often exceeds in the level of service they deliver to their patrons. You won't find a more talented or better trained staff anywhere!

Pros: Continued Staff Training & Super Clean

Great Spa and Salon

by JudyBW

I have found Savvy to be a place I want to continue using. It seems to be professionally managed with that "customer first" feeling. I like that. My hairdresser is experienced with great skills to please. That is why I travel from out-of-town to have my hair cut, colored, and styled. I use some of their other services and products and am always pleased. Call for appts early or go by and talk to them about what it is you need and expect in order to be pleased. I bet you will find satisfaction plus!

Great Services!

by sacity

I have been a very staisfied Savvy customer for 4 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the facilities are very plush. My stylist does a great job with my cut and color....only wish I could take her home to style my hair every day. I recently had a facial with Liz and it was WONDERFUL. This is now my newest favorite treat. If you have a favorite, I recommend making appointments in advance however when I do call with short notice, the receptionist staff always tries to accomodate my needs.

Pros: Ambience, Qualified Staff, Product offerings

Cons: Schedule ahead

Savvy's Staff Exemplifies Professionalism

by Yalie92

I have been relying on Savvy Salon's expertise for years to keep me looking my best. I have my waxing, mani/pedis, massage, microdermabrasion, color, and cuts done there, and I feel 100% confident in their superior abilities. My colorist, Michelle, is board certified, which is evidently a major accolade within this industry, and I don't know if PJ, who cuts my hair, is in possession of such an accolade, but I do know one thing for certain-she is psychic!!! I'm always changing my hair style, and regardless of my latest whim, I can sit in her chair, give her a vague description of what I desire, and she produces exactly the results I am seeking. It's as if she can read my mind!

Their spa is very nice, too. It boasts much more of an inviting zen-like atmosphere than any of the med-spas, chiropractic offices, or even resort spas I have visited, which were much more cold and clinical. Don't let me forget the mani/pedis! Pure heaven! The girls in the nail spa go out of their way to create a pleasing environment. They lower the lights and make sure noise is at a minimum, and deliver a first-rate service! There have been nail spas I have visited in the past that not only are boisterous and smell strongly of nail chemicals, but I always had this underlying fear of infected utensils, etc. Not so at Savvy! Their nail room is run professionally and the girl even walked me through their sanitation steps when I asked her about them.

This place stays pretty busy, and its almost impossible to get a Saturday appointment without calling months ahead, but there is a reason for their popularity. In the salon industry, the staff of Savvy is truly a team of professionals!

Pros: Well trained, Superior Skills

Cons: I can't take them home with me!

Outstanding! BEST SALON IN THE SOUTH!

by KaraRossetti

I have experienced almost every service Savvy has to offer and I have yet to be disappointed. All of the staff work together to provide the best experience possible on each visit. Though the receptionists try their best to fit you in with the stylist you want to see, I suggest scheduling appointments a few weeks in advanced if you're picky. Some of the hair stylists have been there for 10+ years and have pretty tight schedules. The massage and facial packages are a great value (buy 6, get the 7th free). Also, I like to take advantage of their other monthly promotions. You can't go wrong with Savvy gift certificates! (Plus, you get discounts on services for recommending new people!) If you value a professional atmosphere and skilled service-providers, Savvy is the salon and spa for you!

Pros: Location, Service, Great value

long time client

by ecumom

I've been a client of Savvy Salon for nearly 11 years, and I couldn't be happier with their services. Unlike other salons, the staff doesn't compete for business because everyone is paid hourly. In fact, the owner was recognized by her industry for this unique approach a few years ago. So if you can't get an appointment with your favorite stylist, there are plenty of others available. There's no resentment because you "gave your business to someone else". Also, there are different levels of stylists. My mom uses a Level1 stylist because she's on a fixed income, while I prefer Level 3 because I'm picky about my hair! In both cases, the services are and always have been outstanding. Likewise, Savvy is staffed by many long time employees and they feel like family to me. I wouldn't considered going anywhere else for my salon services. In fact, I've heard about clients drving from South Carolina every 2 weeks. For me, I think that says a lot about the quality of services provided by Savvy.

professional attitude and elegant ambiance in the lobby is not enough...

by WFUCAL

i scheduled an appt as a result of a recommendation after my current hairdresser went out on maternity leave. they employ stylists on a step or understudy program wherin they are supposed to master skillsets before moving up to the next pay and price level. this is fine but i was never told after seeing a hairdresser for several months that her new rate was $10 higher when i scheduled my next appt and then , two months later, and additional $15 higher. i have always paid for a good stylist but i feel that it is unprofessional not to let a customer know something like this. there is an air of discontent in the salon itself. several of the stylists seem unhappy, with their payrate (they are paid hourly and pay depends on whether they are an understudy, at the intermediate level or at the top level) , with management and with the long hours and number of days that they work. the last time i visited, my stylist had a fit in front of me, another stylist and customer because i was scheduled for a block of time that wass too large, even though, unbeknownst to me until i went to pay, my cut had just jumped in price by $15 dollars. i was uncomfortable and so was everyone else. when she took me up to check out, she berated the woman at the front desk. the whole experience was negative and unprofessional. i felt bad about being angry for having to pay $15 more and felt that the receptionist treated me in a very cavalier and unfriendly fashion after my stylist berated her. i had always felt very negative vibes in this salon and now i will not return. i have had my hair cut in other more high profile salons that charged more but i was treated as a valued customer. i will not return.

Pros: very easy to schedule an appt, friendly staff at the reception desk on most days

Cons: unprofessional attitude of stylists and other staff, negative vibe

Disappointed

by Jonesy73

They carry top of the line hair products and the staff is very friendly, but that's where my satisfaction ended. It took over four visits to get the color right and I'm still not 100% satisfied. I wanted the same cut and style I had when I walked in the door and I've now lost over 4" in length and my layers are a mess. If I hadn't paid up-front for their annual discount package I would've moved on months ago. I have been to four different stylists there at all different levels. It seems like there is a lack of training and knowledge in up-to-date hair trends and basic hair cutting and color skills. I'm very surprised they are a Kerastase approved salon

Pros: friendly and helpful staff, location, ambience

Cons: skill sets of stylists
