We visited so many schools in the area, and truly, none compared! This is our first year at Peace. Both of our children attend (3 and 6). The teachers are amazing! They have also been very accommodating and understanding to a list of food allergies. We are so thankful to have found Peace!

We toured the entire Triangle area looking for schools that were truly focused on the children as individuals and "got" the original Montessori approach. At the very end of our search, having not have much success, we stumbled across Peace Montessori in Cary/Apex, NC and couldn't believe what we found - the answer to our prayers. :) We took them up on their offer to tour the facility and meet with the teachers. Our child took to them quite quickly and also had great interactions with the other kids immediately. The environment is very loving, nurturing, and supportive of the learning needs and pace of the kids. In this world where some many schools want to force a learning agenda on all kids at the same time and same pace - whether they learn the material or not - it is nice to know that places like Peace Montessori exist that celebrate the uniqueness of each child and provide the space for them to develop as fully rounded and respected individuals. We absolutely refer Peace Montessori to our friends who are looking for a place for their kids to get a well rounded education.

While looking for a preschool for our 3 year old, we wanted to see something different then fixed schedule of 30 min reading time, 30 min lunch. We were impressed with our first visit to the school when I saw the current students very polite and even though they were 3-4 years old, they came and took our 3 year old along with them to play/eat without being asked by the teacher. I always believe that we need to give space to our kids to learn by themselves what is right and good. Also we need to nurture their creativity by letting them follow their instincts. Peace montessory supports this very well and their way of teaching is unique and outstanding. Since my daughter started going to the peace montessori, we can see a huge improvement in her knowledge, nature, creativity and behavior. Within 2-3 days of school our daughter was looking forward to the next day of school even though she was very shy person! She is sad when she has a day off even though we try to spent a good amount of time with her at home. We are very thankful to Ms Susan and Ms Karen for their great effort on development of our daughter. As we are not that creative, we were worried about our daughters but the addition of art camp is like a gift, Louise is a very great teacher. Now our daughter knows a lot more about art and she is a lot more creative. Our second daughter who is 1 year old, will join her sister once she is old enough. I would recommend them to every parent.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Peace! My brother and sister went there and they have continued to excel in higher grades! My 1st son just completed his first year as a two year old and he loves it! He is attending the 3-5 year old class in the fall and has already started talking about it. The two year old class teachers are amazing, patient, interactive, and I cannot wait for my youngest son to attend their class. My two year old's communication skills are infinitely better than when he started which cuts down on the temper tantrums. He sings, dances, uses his imagination, and most importantly has learned how to interact with others, respecting, playing, and treating people well. I believe the school curriculum and teachers are to thank for that. I highly recommend this school to anyone!

Allow us to share our family's journey at Peace Montessori in Apex, NC ..... a journey worth every moment.

Peace Montessori was a discovery my wife made making phone calls looking for a suitable pre-school for our 2&1/2 year old son. We would like to congratulate ourselves as parents that our selection of Peace Montessori was a carefully thought out process. But it was actually a remarkably happy accident. Almost 9 years later and now graduating from the school's Upper Elementary class, he is heading to Durham Academy's 6th grade middle school class.

Our son's path from initial developmental concerns to eventual academic excellence in all subjects, honed social interaction and peer friendships, and now acceptance into a widely respected middle school of his own choice is not only a testament to his own diligence and hard work, but undoubtedly is also due to the remarkable, caring faculty and staff at Peace Montessori. At Peace, we've had the good fortune to entrust his journey to superb teachers - skilled guides every step of the way ("They're gems" to quote another parent's recent comment, and she's spot on). Regular communication, honest and clear appraisal of progress and challenges, and caring, thoughtful visions of each student's potential is the daily recipe at this school.

There is no stifling 'teaching to a test' here - there is a wealth of discoveries driven by each child's initiative - often going beyond the classroom with field trips, physical education opportunities, and additional teachers for enhanced studies (spanish, yoga, music, you name it).

We had no idea how fruitful and rewarding our experience would be at this place when we started. We easily got more than our money's worth by paying the monthly tuition for our kid to go to this school. We now have a son who is well prepared for life's next steps and challenges in so many ways. The experience has been worth every penny and every moment .... and then some.

We absolutely love Peace Montessori. My children have been at Peace for 6 years and couldn't be happier. Over the years we have watched the school grow and offer activities such as yoga, Spanish, rock climbing and even more unique opportunities you won't find in the public schools. The teachers are wonderful and have been at the school for many years and you can easily see that they love what they do and treat the children like their own. The environment at Peace is truly one of a community and is very family oriented. Our children are excited on a daily basis to go to school and look forward to the new experiences Peace offers each day.

My youngest child has been at Peace Montessori for 6 years. We started there as my oldest child was struggling in public school and both of my children are dyslexic. Next to homeschooling, the International Dyslexic Association highly recommended Montessori as the next best thing. I started researching Montessori and how it is different from public school. I then searched out many Montessori schools in the area. What brought me to Peace is the smaller class size as well as the fact they I feel they are the most true to Montessori than the others.
I love that Montessori supports the child in all ways. Allows the child to be where they are and not forced into a group. If my 3rd grade child is reading at a 6th grade level, it??s supported. If my 4th grade child is doing math on a 6th grade level, it??s supported.
Due to the small class sizes, the teachers know where a child is in their development, what they are currently working on and what??s coming up next. Unlike public school where the child is evaluated on 1 day out of the quarter, the teacher can tell you on any given day what and how your child is doing. My children love Peace Montessori. It??s the only school that they get upset to be away on break. They love their friends and their teachers.

Peace Montessori is simply an amazing school! We've been a part of the school for over 3 years and plan to stay as long as we can. This was our first preschool experience and the teachers were nothing but supportive and reassuring. Their patience is endless and their expertise in the Montessori method is exceptional. Our son has completely blossomed during his time there. Every staff member is kind and readily available to help out and answer questions. Each classroom has excellent quality materials for the children to learn everything from math, geography, science, language and so much more. Our son just loves his school and his teachers! The staff have created a very warm, welcoming environment for all of the students and families. We recommend Peace at every chance we get. My husband and I really cannot say enough good things about Peace Montessori!

Peace Montessori in Apex, NC is an exceptional school!! We have already put our older son through the 3-5-year old preschool program at Peace Montessori, he was there for 2 & a half years, & he is flourishing in 1st grade now! When he entered Kindergarten last year, not only was he reading at 2 grade levels above his peers, but his understanding of math & science concepts also far surpassed his public school classmates. And not only did he start public elementary school w/ a leg up in academics, he also displayed fantastic self-control & the consistent ability to follow directions & be a positive role model for others - characteristics that his Kindergarten teacher reported were incredibly rare in a child that age. He is now a 1st grader, having a terrific year, & already being recommended for AG services. Our younger son is currently in his 2nd year at Peace in the 3-5-year old program, also having an absolutely wonderful experience! He is drastically different in personality from our first son, which makes my recommendation of Peace Montessori's preschool environment even more powerful in my opinion. I say this because I handed these amazingly talented teachers 2 completely different children w/ varying strengths & weaknesses, & they used their nurturing instincts, kind hearts, & deep understanding of Montessori education to help guide each child toward developing his own individual intrinsic motivation for learning, & have thus fostered within each child a real sense of personal responsibility & a confidence to be self-sufficient that we were absolutely flabbergasted to watch evolve, particularly w/ our younger, more spirited child. It seems to us that the kind of child-centered education our boys have received at Peace has taught them how to be life-long learners, & more importantly, taught them the joy of learning! It takes a certain kind of commitment & faith in a child's natural drive to learn to be a Montessori teacher, & that is something that these teachers have even taught us, as parents. We do a better job allowing our kids to develop their own interests at home now, & to share w/ us anything they are curious about, & we know better how to help them explore any concept or subject that they are intrigued by. Discovering this important part of child development & understanding the importance of having respect for our children as autonomous human beings has deepened our relationship w/ our kids, for which we will be forever grateful to our sons' teachers, Ms. Susan & Ms. Karen, & to the Peace Montessori community as a whole. I'd just like to add that I knew some things about the Montessori system when we were originally researching preschools, & we knew that a Montessori education was our first choice for our children's preschool years, & just from the little bit I understood about how Montessori worked, it was evident from the moment I 1st visited Peace that it was an authentic Montessori school, not a typical play-based preschool program or even a hybrid of the 2. It was of course multi-age, a family-like grouping, as a true Montessori program ought to be, with 3-6-year olds together in 1 class. The younger ones benefit from observing the older children, & the older children act as mentors & leaders, & the kids can really develop at their own pace because the classroom has materials appropriate for 3-year olds all the way up to 7-year olds. There's a very deliberate selection of Montessori activities in our son's classroom; not the typical Legos-blocks-trucks toys we have at home, & it's clear the kids love to engage w/ them over & over again. By working w/ these materials, our boys have learned certain skills we can't imagine having found a way to ever explicitly teach them, at home or anywhere else - such as careful observation, hand strength, the ability to distinguish musical tones, the shapes of letters, counting, etc. All the materials build sequentially, enabling the children to progress from one to the next as their abilities evolve; & they're self-correcting, so the kids can work independently of the teachers & learn to problem-solve on their own. This has been a huge plus for our 2nd son specifically! He tends to get super frustrated very easily w/ even the simplest things, but the frequency & intensity of his impatient outbursts has decreased dramatically & incrementally over the last year & that he's been at Peace. The angelic patience his teachers have shown him, along w/ the problem-solving skills he's picked up through his exploration during free work time, have undoubtedly given him the tools he needs to function more calmly & confidently throughout his daily life. All in all, putting our children in Peace Montessori for preschool was the best decision we ever made!!

Peace, the name says it all: peaceful learning, peaceful kids, peaceful teachers, peace of mind. We moved to this area from CA two and a half years ago. After looking at nearly all of the preschools in Apex (not an exaggeration) we found out about Peace from a neighbor. When I visited I was struck by the calm and quiet atmosphere of Peace. The children, even two year olds were quietly moving about their classrooms and working and learning. This was such a stark contrast to traditional preschool programs. The teachers were calmly guiding the students and the toddlers (!) were listening intently and asking questions in a calm way. The school is really geared towards providing children with a breadth of knowledge and with developing good social skills After two plus years at Peace, my four year old has learned so much and has grown into an inquisitive, empathetic and polite child in addition to learning math, reading, science, spanish, and even yoga. The teachers reach out to parents to share their knowledge and culture with the class. They have had special lessons on Chinese New Year and Diwali. The school even has a "nature lady" who comes in some Fridays to show the children some of the wildlife of North Carolina. This school is a real gem! We are so happy to be part of it!

We went to an Open House at Peace Montessori before my daughter started 2nd grade, but ultimately decided to put her in the local public school. By the middle of 4th grade that was not working out for her, and I remembered how much we liked the Montessori program, and Peace Montessori in particular. We brought her to the school for a day to try it out ?? and we were all immediately ready to switch! She started right after winter break that year (two years ago) and we have been happy with that decision every day since then. I only wish we had moved her sooner. We have been impressed with the quality of the teachers, the overall education she is getting, the numerous field trips (which enhance their learning tremendously!), and the warm, friendly atmosphere at Peace Montessori.

Specifically, I like the small class size and teacher/student ratio, the weekly class meetings where students are able to talk about interpersonal and social issues in a calm, clear way, and the time management, personal responsibility, and life skills they learn everyday. It??s been great getting to know the other students in her class and their parents, and I feel that we have all made lifelong friends. Also, it is a real comfort and advantage having the same teacher for 3-year periods, as well as a curriculum which spans that time period. Each child is able to move at his/her individual pace and learn in the best way for them.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that enrolling our daughter at Peace was the single best decision we have made for her education ?? both in the classroom and in life.

We love Peace. It is calm yet structured, self-directed yet organized. It is small and highly structured as far as drop-off and pick-up and the like are concerned--if you want more flexibility for that you'll need to look at a more typical daycare. We have 2 kids at Peace and both love it. I cannot speak highly enough of it.

My son went to Peace for 2 years and loved it! Montessori takes a bit getting used to when you first start, but I can tell you that it was a wonderful experience for my son. He was reading by Kindergarten and was very socialized. My daughter is about to begin her second year at Peace and she also loves it. The teachers are very personable and approachable. It is very diverse as well! We recommend Peace Montessori!

My son is a student at Peace and really likes going there every morning. When he started he couldn't understand or speak any english at all since our home language is portuguese. The teachers were really nice, understanding and patient with him. One year has passed and my son loves going there and his english is much better :-). I'm glad I have chosen Peace Montessori to be his first school.

too had a previous experience with this school where our child was left outside unsupervised. The school is well aware of this and I have many documented emails from the school confirming this. Additionally, we did not find this school to welcome diversity. Very disappointed.

Pros: Some teachers are excellent

Cons: Few teachers not qualified; unsupervised care

I have had at least one kid at Peace Montessori since it opened in 2003. That should say it all... why would anyone stay at a preschool they were unhappy with? It was a wonderful start for 4 of my 5 children.. and the only reason the fifth one didn't go there is because it wasn't open when he was a preschooler. My kids were (and are) always safe and happy there.

The well-trained staff are caring individuals, and they can meet the needs of all sort of students, from the totally typical to highly gifted to kids with mild physical or developmental disabilities.

Peace students learn to become organized, responsible courteous, self-regulating and independent. It is truly a place for a child whose parents value these qualities.

Hi, I'd like to leave a review about Peace Montessori in Apex. Montessori and Peace in Apex with all the teachers and humanity is an outstanding combination !! We moved to NC from Germany in March 2008 and our son joined this school in August 2008. We were and we are still very very happy about our neighbor's recommendation!! Our son's teacher was and still is able to speak German very well which ensured our son a lot in the beginning since he could neither speak English nor understand it. He loves his school and is very proud to be a Montessori child in Peace and so are we! In addition our daughter joined the Toddler's Class last year and she loves it and is looking forward to switch over to her brother's class and already loves his teachers as much as her own. Safety is a veryvery important topic for this school and they're doing everything possible to keep the kids safe! And in addition I experience every day, that every mom and every dad I see keeps an eye on their own and on the other kids at drop off and pick up to keep them safe! We love the school and so we decided to re-enroll our son for Kindergarten instead of sending him to a public school.
Take care and please apologize for my imperfect English. I guess my kids are doing already better than I do. ;o)

Peace Montessori is highly recommended
My wife and I have had our twin boys at Peace for 3 years now. The learning and growth we have seen in them has been a truly positive experience.

Peace is a school committed to the self-directed learning philosophy of Montessori. As a result our children have grown into very confident 5 year-olds, and much of that credit goes to the social skills and love of learning that they have developed during their time at Peace.

Peace offers a diversity that we feel will serve our children well, as they are exposed to other children with different ethnic backgrounds, different family makeups, and different ages -- differences that they will come in contact with as older children and adults.

When our boys leave for public school at the end of the year, we will be enrolling our daughter so she can begin her own experience as a two year-old.

I highly recommend you visit Peace as you are checking out educational opportunities for your children.

PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS. Peace has been in business for 7 years and has always had school policies in place to ensure the safety of the children at all times. 9 out of 10 of the staff members are AMS Certified (American Montessori Society). We were named Best Preschool in Apex for 2008 and 2009. NEVER has a child run around unsupervised as stated in a previous review stemming from one family on a hate campaign against the owner that has continued for months under different names. It is a shame that the internet is such that you cannot truly protect yourself or business from hateful, untrue attacks nor can you always have them removed from the site. Please set up an appointment to visit the school for an observation (363-2461). Observing and speaking with our parents and seeing the facility are the best ways to judge for yourself what an amazing program we have at Peace Montessori.

We changed schools this past summer after experiencing many problematic issues. We were with the school for two years. The first year was very good but we changed teachers the second year and things really took a downward spiral. I hope things improve but at the time we left a few months ago, we were extremely disappointed.

I have been an early childhood educator and teacher mentor for 18 years and have an MS degree in Child Development. When it came to finding the right preschool for my own daughter, I was sure we would never find what we were looking for. When my husband and I discovered Peace, we instantly fell in love with the the program's philosophy, the teachers and the immediate sense of "family community" we found. Now in her third year, our 5-year-old daughter has enjoyed the same loving, skilled and brilliant teachers she has had since her first day of school. Our child has thrived both academically and socially in the Peace environment, which is true to authentic Montessori teaching principles and practices. The program's curriculum and teaching practices are founded in research-based methodology that consistently link to later academic success. As an early childhood professional and parent, I am sure that Peace Montessori was the right choice for our child during her most important years of learning and development.

This is my son's third year at Peace Montessori and we couldn't be happier. As the mother to a child who is very shy, reserved and slow to warm up having him in a preschool where he can thrive is especially important. My husband and I have been AMAZED with the progress and positive change we have seen in our son over the past three years. We cannot say enough positive things about his teachers including the owner/director who has also been one of his teachers for the last two years. They are all incredibly dedicated, patient, calm and enthusiastic about what they do.
My husband and I both agree that if our son was in another school where the teachers were not so conscientious, caring and in tune with our sons needs that he would likely get lost in the shuffle. Instead he is doing incerdibly well both academically and socially. We are amazed at the things that he is learning and cannot believe what a great experience he is having.
The teachers and general philosophy and guidelines at Peace are great. The school has strict policies in place that are designed for the childrens safety and well being and as parents we respect, understand and appreciate these guidelines.
I cannot say enough good things about this school. I volunteer a great deal at the school and I have witnesses the inner workings of the school on many occasions.
We will without a doubt be renrolling our son back at Peace next fall along with our youngest son. We are just so grateful that we found such a wonderful school.
My review is hands down 5stars++++

We have been a part of the Peace family for 4 years, beginning in the toddler class and now in Preschool and the extended day program. Peace Montessori has been such a blessing to our family. My children have been welcomed, accepted, nurtured and guided in an inclusive loving environment.
I wasn't sure when I began my search for a half day preschool that I would find everything I felt important in nurturing my children's growth in one school, but miraculously, I did in Peace. The teachers are well trained, I believe all parents themselves, but most importantly truly believe that what they do makes a difference, and it does! They encourage all the key principles of Montessori, Children's work, feelings, and words are respected. The children are intrinsically motivated and valued for who they are where they are.
I highly recommend this school and the teachers. Peace Montessori has taught me so much, and my children so much more!

My grandchildren have attended Peace Montessori for several years and have thrived in that environment. Altho' I am not the parent, I have spent considerable time at the school, attended many programs, delivered and picked up at the end of the day, etc. and know each of the teachers. The children and parents I've seen there are engaged in the programs and are happy in their lives - it's such a shame when someone unhappy in his own life blames others for his own shortcomings rather than be thankful for the positive influences his child can receive in such a lovely atmosphere. Children, teachers and parents work well together at Peace, in a loving and caring approach to learning. The children are challenged every day and learn, by the Montessori methods, to have a collaborative experience in their lessons. They help each other and learn, from what my husband and I have seen, far more than children in any other school setting, because there are no upper limits placed on them. I heartily recommend Peace Montessori and continue to be thrilled that we are part of the "family" there.

Our son attended Peace for one year. It was a very challenging year filled with great negativity and criticism. We were constantly blamed for petty incidents or ones for which we weren't responsible, and also generally harassed, leaving us with no option but to leave the school. For several months, we attempted to remedy the situation, but our many requests to meet with the School Director/Owner were denied. She refused to meet with us especially when it involved the extreme neglect and safety of an incident involving our toddler son. This involved our 3 year old son who was left outside the school at the parking lot when I arrived at the school to pick him up and he was all by himself. The school, which never admitted that this was a safety issue that they were responsible for, given the fact my child was in their care, instead blamed his parents for not being being with him. This was confirmed by the school sending us a violation email stating that we weren't in compliance with the school guidelines! How could we have been with him since we were driving to pick him up? Who knows what would have happened to him had I not arrived and found him? Between safety issues and combative personnel at the school, our time at Peace was anything but "Peaceful." In reflection, the School really focused much more on negativity, criticism, and unhappiness than actually providing our son a proper education in a nurturing environment. An alarming and very miserable experience, one in which we were extremely dissatisfied with and, overall, our son's treatment. As a parent who has experienced this school, I would strongly advise to research all other available options.

I have just reviewed a horrible review, that couldn't be further from the truth. My children have attended Peace Montessori for the last five years. The experience I have had is nothing short of amazing. All the teachers are completely professional and embrace and teach a multicultural curriculum. My children have learned about the world around them without ever having to step outside of the classroom.
Each teacher is Montessori certified and each classroom has vast diversity. The comment made by the person named Dharmish was apparently way off base and it is clear and evident that his facts are misunderstood, from hearing something from afar is not justified in giving a top notch school a bad review. Had he gone and asked the person that he overheard what they meant, perhaps he would know that she would never ever say anything regarding someone's language as she speaks two languages, herself.
Please dismiss this gentleman's review as it is evident he has no idea what he is speaking about.
