Not sure what happened with the other person who had a bad experience, but I have been seeing Dr. Burkard for 8 years and have nothing but positive comments. I feel very comfortable trusting him with the care of my health. He use to be with another, much larger practice across from REX where the admin staff was rude and the facility was dirty. (maybe 6 years ago??) The current staff and site have been nothing but great. (The billing person is a little gruff, but not enough to sour my experience)

My daughter and I have been patients here for around 3 years and Dr. Bommareddi is fantastic with both of us. She takes her time and talks to you about what is going on. I've never been disappointed. I don't know what happened to the previous poster, but her male nurse has always been very professional and courteous. (Of course, most people know that you don't get a physical done when you have a UTI symptoms going on because the bloodwork will be wonky and not right, not to mention the fact that you let them know when you get there that you have to go to the bathroom because guess what they have to test for a UTI? URINE!)

In any case, I do not want this practice to suffer because of one reviewer who is obviously upset and giving a very heated view of her experience. Somehow, I find it difficult to believe that the male nurse was that way when he has always been really great with both me and my daughter. The whole practice seems to go out of their way to help.

A huge high five to Dr. Burkard. Though our non-smoking son had no known risk factors to develop an unusual cancer for someone his age, and only one symptom, Dr. Burkard, out of caution, sent him in for additional tests. The cancer was found, removed surgically, and our son has now been cancer free for almost a year. The specialists have all commented on how lucky we are to have such an observant family physician. I had the mis-fortunate of having Dr. Griffith as my doctor. She treats her minority patients in a very condescending manner - very unprofessional behavior indeed!

I went in as a new patient, having a physical done, and needed to be checked for a UTI. I had to go to the bathroom when I got there, 30 minutes early! So I checked-in and they started gathering the paper work as I relieved myself. I cameback and started on my paperwork, and then had the urge to go again. UTI remember! So I left my boyfriend filling out the paperwork and went again to the bathroom. So in the 5 minutes I was gone they called me. My boyfriend said she is going to the bathroom, she is having unirnary problems to the nurse. who ROLLED HIS EYES!!!!!!!!!! And turned around and started to act extremely aggitated. I returned from the bathroom and the nurse refused to see me!!! So I showed up to be treated and cured for a UTI and get my freakin PAP and because I had to pee, I was told they would not see me. Not only that, the cowardley yet incredibley rude male nurse, didn't even have the guts to tell me himself, like he was too good to refuse service to me! On top of that when the receptionist herself said it was that particular nurse who made the decission to cancel the appointment!!!!! We had to have the receptionist go and get the male nurse so my boyfriend could let him know the gravity of the situation b/c by this time I was doubled over in pain crying against the wall, b/c my bladder hurt!!!!! UTI remember!! So as my boyfriend calmly questioned the male nurse who was rudely rolling his eyes the entire time, and I was crying against the wall in pain, HE (the male nurse) started to raise his voice at my boyfriend!! Did I mention there were other clients in the office while all this is going on. One lady asked me if I was ok b/c I was clenching my abdomen and crying! This is the worst clinic I have ever been to, and thats saying a lot given my and my families involvement in the UNC healthcare system for the past 26 years!!!!! Never once have I been treated with such distain!!!!!

PROS: The ofice and building are very spacious!!!!!!!!
CONS: EXTREMELY RUDE, AND CRASS!!!! NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have been with this practice since it moved from it's orignal building (across from Rex Hospital). The staff is busy, but helpful and pleasant. Schedule your appointments well in advance because it's hard to get in (unless you are REALLY sick). Corrine Griffith is my doctor, in this practice, and I really recommend her.
