We started going to Carolina Kids 5 years ago. They have been WONDERFUL! They have hours 7 days a week, and when I've called with a sick child, they have ALWAYS made a same day appointment. Once I called on a Sunday, and they scheduled me for two hours AFTER THEY CLOSE. When I said I thought they closed earlier, she responded, "We close after we see all our patients." I was impressed. My children have seen every doctor there, and I would recommend any of them. Dr. Nechyba was the chief resident at John Hopkins, so he was the number 1 resident at the number 1 med school for pediatrics. My ob/gyn was really pleased when I said Dr. Tanaka is our children's ped. My ob/gyn at Atrium (which I also LOVE) said his wife is a ped. at another practice and believes that Dr. Tanaka is the best ped. in the Triangle. Dr. Wiley (who was also a chief resident) and Dr. Foor both took a great deal of time with our children and answered all our questions even drawing charts to explain things to us and often quoting recent research they've read regarding our concerns. I've even left articles asking Dr. Tanaka to read them and advise me on their credibility, which he did and called me back in a few days time. I highly recommend this Pediatric Office.

Their business office is a tragedy. Their doctors are top notch, but their business office is rude, disrespectful and unethical. I would not recommend them at all!

As for the doctors at this practice, they are phenomenal. As for the practice manager, Lori Pote she is extremely rude, unprofessional and shows no respect when speaking to patients. She comes across as if she is a person of power and nothing can be said or done therefore she speaks and treats patients as she pleases. I was extremely upset with her disrespectful tone of voice and when asked if there was someone else I could speak with or talk to about her actions she stated NO there is not and that is too bad and quickly hung the phone up on me. I am not sure what is able to be done but I feel if this issue is not addressed she will continue to treat others in this manner?? I am very happy with the doctors at this practice and that is why I continue to go here but I am very disappointed and upset with their practice manager; something needs to be done so she does not continue to treat patients disrespectfully.

My children have been patients at Carolina Kids for the past 11 years and I could not ask for a better pediatric group. Tammy and Marilyn (part of the office staff) have always been friendly and helpful whether my call has been for a routine check-up or a sick visit. During my childrens' medical crisis the doctors have been truly wonderful. My 2nd child had to be hospitalized when she was 4 days old. Our pediatrician (who has since left the practice b/c he moved to VA) was very supportive and caring during that time. When my 3rd child had an asthma flare up that we couldn't control with his nebulizer the Dr-on-call went out of his way to meet us in the office after hours so we wouldn't have to make a trip to the emergency room. Dr. Tanaka is our regular physician and he has an good rapport with our children and always leaves time to address all of our concerns. I frequently recommend this practice to my friends and colleagues.

Cons: Can't think of any.

We have been patients there since 2006. They acted like they were doing us a favor by taking us since we had Medicaid then. There was always a long wait. I like Dr, Foor, but couldn't easily get appointments with him. Dr. Tanaka made several rude remarks to me at a few visits, such as "Oh, you're back again???" in a sarcastic tone. With three kids, I spend a fair amount of time at the doctor's office. Even when I had "real insurance", I was still treated poorly!!! As a healthcare professional myself, I feel that their attitude and customer service deficits should be addressed! After two missed appointments in 4 years (11/2007 and 4/2010) , they have refused to see us. If you miss an appointment, THEY WILL DROP YOU!!!!!

Completely disagree with poster on not accepting medicaid. Doctors can only accept a certain number of patients due to billing issues. My children have been going here for six years and have been medicaid recipients. I have never felt uncomfortable or unaccepted in this practice. Dr. Nechyba is great!! We have seen all of the others on rare occasions and I have never had any issues with them. GREAT PLACE FOR KIDS!!! You can leave feeling that your questions have been answered and any anxiety is resolved with a solution or two.

Altough I loved the doctor at my sons first appointment i have changed my tune. Their was a mis understanding on "THERE PART" about an appointment my son had. Well, we didnt go to the appointment because we were not aware of the appointmet THEY MADE!! So we were kicked out for being a no show. I called and tryed to explain what had happend and the mistake they made but is was left up to the dr (Dr neyba) and he said that it was best if we found another dr. They dont have the kids best intreast at heart. They dont mind just throwing the kids out!! Please do not take your kids here!!

Best practice ever - period! All of the doctors there take their time with you and I totally disagree with the other poster that it is hard to get an appointment. I have never, ever had a problem seeing a doctor there that day - no matter what. We have been going to Carolina Kids for over 7 years and recommend it to everyone we know!

I had a bad experience with prior pediatric practice and was very careful selecting a new one. I found Dr. Nechyba and fell in love with him right away. He is a VERY caring doctor, he must read chart before entering the office, because he seems to know everything about my son, he is loving and compasionate. He examines him in my lap to lessen the stress on him and he is so gentle with him. Slow moving not to scare him etc. I am just so pleased with Dr. Nechyba. During emergencies we don't get to chose who we see though. We saw the female doctor couple times and she was just ok. The other male doctor is our friends' primary pediatrician and they love him. We have never seen him personally. They say he takes time off after work to talk to their son who got himself in trouble at school. The nurses are great for the most part. Only the last one grabbed my son out of my arms to place him on a scale while he was screaming. That made me VERY uncomfortable. Other nurses were very patient with him on this and I appreciate that. They have no problem with me holding him during shots either. I like that. One nurse (older lady) is especialy nice, she seems to feel the pain with the kids when she gives them shots. I like that compassion. Remaining office stuff is very friendly. You will go into exam room quickly, but sometimes it can be a wait there in a small room with a kid with just handful of books can be challenging though.

I have a 12 year old and a 2 year old that go to Dr. Foor's office. He is terrific. The staff always has time for them (even on short notice). Dr. Foor is very personable and highly qualified. Definitely recommend to anyone with kids.

We have been going to this practice for 9 years. We see Dr. Foor. My children look forward to going. Always can get an appointment if it is an emergency. I recommended a friend and she loves it too. She sees Dr. Nycheba. I really like him too.

Found out there is no certified lactation consultant on staff even though was told by office manager- the person was not listed on ibclc website. Why would you say on website that those services were provided if personell was not qualified to do that job.
Do not accept Medicaid- not everyone has job supplied insurancwe- felt like I was not good enough for practice.

Its clean and spacious, but we always wait a long time and spend very little time with the same doctor its always someone different. I enjoy more personal attention. It is difficult to get an appointment if its and emergency.

We take our 14 month-old daughter there since she was born. We usually book check-ups with Dr. Willey but all the physicians are great. Nurses are very friendly when I call with questions and they will always squeeze me in!

As a new mom, I've found them consistent, encouraging, and non-judgemental. The docs are kind and gentle, but direct. The nurses are very sweet. Can always see my child very quickly.

PROS: Very quick response, can always get a call back and/or get my child in.
CONS: No well-child waiting room; difficult to see lactation nurse
